Antique Miniature / Childs Sheraton Period Walnut Chest
This is a walnut Sheraton period miniature or child's chest. It is handmade exhibiting early nailed construction drawers. It has pine drawer bottoms and back. The primary wood is walnut and the secondary wood is pine. Very nice inlaid false key holes that appear to be maple. It is likely from the Sheraton or Empire period. It measures 16" by 16" by 7" It is an absolute knockout when you see it in person. Pictures in no way do it justice. It is missing both end pieces for the top. They could easily be replaced but its not at all necessary. Truly a gem of a piece and sure to be one of the favorites of any collection. This auction is for a vintage Lane Miniature Cedar Chest. This is one of the ones that were presented to graduating High School seniors. The inscription inside the lid says it was presented by Wolf Furniture Co of Clearfield. PENNA. The ends have a few marks where it looks like something was spilled and damaged the finish. The overall finish has some surface marks and signs of use and wear. Hinges are solid and well attached. The lock still works, but it does not have a key. I was able to lock and unlock it with a paper clip fashioned in the shape of a key. See pictures for more detail, they are a part of the description. Items are sold AS-IS. Miniature Antique 19thC English 3 Drawer Elm Valuables Chest with 2 Doors
Antique 19th Century Valuables Chest From the estate of a Vermont antique collector. This is a lovely little miniature chest. The wood is Elm and it has a dark finish. There are two doors on the front that have a lock- I do not have the key. Inside are three drawers with nice brass colored drawer pulls that fold flat into the drawer. The drawers have tiny hand cut dovetails front and back. Beveled edge on the top and the chest sits on a beveled edge base. Original finish. There is some light wear to the finish from years of use, but it is still in very nice antique condition. Ready to display. Miniature Chest measures 9.5" wide and 13" tall. Antique Pennsylvania PA Painted Miniature Blanket Chest Signed American Folk Art
WOW! I mean W.O.W. FRESH from an incredible estate this past weekend. This OLD(avid collectors) estate was packed with EARLY AMERICAN items-furniture. Boxes, chests, maps, ect. I snatched this baby up! This early Pennsylvania chest is gorgeous-all hand made-dovetailed construction with square nails. BEAUTIFUL original paint! Signed several times in several places on the bottom-I can only make one out for sure-Amanda Batz. If you google her, you will find right away an Amanda Batz who was born in Pennsylvania on May 1st, 1836. I don't know if this was passed down to her or painted by her? There are other names and possibly dates which, with a little more time and effort, could probably be made out and someone could probably figure out when and for whom and possibly by whom this was made. Offered here without reserve is this fantastic Child's or Miniature ca 1840 chest of drawers that has no repairs or restorations aside from the replaced knobs on the drawers(most likely a replaced glass to the mirror as well) It stands but 41 5/8" tall to the finials on the mirror. Whereas the chest alone stands 25 3/8" x 17" wide x 12 1/4" deep. So she's made to 1/2 scale. With fully dovetailed drawers, she's also a menagerie of woods, including cherry, poplar and mahogany(I'm sure there's maple in there somewhere as well) But clearly she's American. What more can I add? Again, there is no reserve, but USPS shipping will run $35 since she's sure to hit the balloon rate charge on shipping.

Awesome piece! I know the trim is NOT plastic; it could be abalone.Maybe even ivory but I am not sure.The lines and the roses are so perfect and looks like scrimshaw but again, I am not sure. What I am sure of is the craftsmanship, which is the epitome of art. The tiny pieces are mitered as are all corners. The dark brown wood trim is finely mitred and fits perfectly. Then the is a inner lining that extends above the ledge. That is not only mitred but is on a 45 degree angle. Where the hinges are attached in the lid. The dark brown wood is neatly cut out on the top and also the bottom, making a perfect piece. The four feet are carved and each"toe" is detailed. If that isn't ivory it could be bone as it isn't as shiny as the trim. This is Panda Standing black chest by Maxine Renaker(co-founder of the company) It is item 952 and stands 1 3/8" tall. It was in the line only in 1978 and 1979. This piece is free from chips. Breaks or repairs unless I have specified above. Any small specs or bright lines that look like scratches are just light reflections. Hagen is the only manufacturer of miniature ceramic animals left in the U.S. The company was founded in 1946 by Maxine and John Renaker. Maxine passed away a few years ago at the age of 89. The first factory was in Monrovia. CA but in 1962 it moved to San Dimas. The company continues under the leadership of their daughter to produce these lovely animals. One of the characteristics of ceramics is that as they age they develop small hairline cracks in the finish called crazing. This is normal and is not considered a ... moreflaw. If you see some residue around the bottom it is just the paper from the sticker. It comes off with warm soapy water. Now speaking of the sticker or the card. Hagen Renaker offers their miniatures either with or without a card. Cards were added later for the benefit of some retailers so they could price the items and to reduce breakage on the shelf. They were never intended to be displayed. Once purchased, with the card; this would be as tacky as Minnie Pearl leaving the price tags on her hats. Many. Many pieces are shipped at the customer’s request without a card. Cards add nothing to the value of a piece except to prove to untrained collectors that they are authentic. Some of my pieces have cards others do not. If they have a card chances are it will not be pristine. Antique wooden miniature chest/ writing desk. Made well over 100 years ago. But exact date not known. 11.5 inches long; 8 inches tall; 5.5 inches front to back. May have been a salesman's sample and may have been a child's toy. Would make a wonderful jewellery box today. Beautifully constructed a long time ago. Long. Deep drawfront divided into two compartments, at the bottom, right accross the front. Above it is a much narrower/shallower drawer with no division. A desk/ writing surface above that and recessed behind is a set of 6 smaller draws, all but one divided into two sections. The draw pulls are made of natural material, we are not sure exactly what, and some have a little bite missing here and there(as shown in'photos) The draws are beautifully constructed with fine dovetails. A lovely 1800's small chest of drawers standing 17 inches tall. It is handmade and unsigned. It has all the original porcelain drawer pulls which are usually broken or missing some. Bellport Jewelers& Rarities 631-286-7700 Description. From an estate we are liquidating according to the heirs this was purchased from Christie's in the 1950s. Beautifully crafted I believe the wood is mahogany and it is finished in a medium brown red tone. Somewhat cherry in color. Appears to have all original brass pulls and hardware including the tiny key that works. Three same sized drawers are 10 1/2 x 6 inches in depth by 3 inches in height. Overall size of chest is 15 inches tall by 15 inches wide by 9 inches in depth. As to condition I note a few minor dings and dents but all edges are smooth. The sky blue velvet inserts obviously were added later and this was used as a jewelry box present day. I note the wood cracked back panel as photos show but piece is structurely sound. could have been a salesman sample piece. The chaulk ... moremarkings are on all the drawer bottoms and the bottom of the piece- B1986/A but don't know who that refers to. Note the color of the wood is what you see in the redder images- with the camera flash on the hue appears more honey brown but that is not correct.
