A Salesman's Sample of Miniature dimensions c. 1810-20. It is crafted of solid mahogany(top, sides, drawer fronts, drawer secondaries, columns) mahogany veneers(stile facings on right and left of drawers and drawer blades) white pine secondaries(back, bottom, interior blocking) rosewood(knobs) and unidentified stringer inlays(appear to be holly or satinwood) The top is rectangular in form. Projecting over the front and sides with tight turrets at the corners over spiral-turned columns- these complex formations transition from a series of tight ring turnings into the spiral balusters over tiny urns and completed with a series of complex ring turnings over cork feet. The columns define the chest, greatly elevating the form with tasteful embellishment that does not distract from the overall composition. The graduated two over three drawers retain their original rosewood knobs, these flanking the inverted tear-drop escutcheons and framed as a whole in the rectangular stringer inlays. Dovetail construction dominates the chest. Through dovetails securing the sides of the case to the bottom and presumably to the interior framing upon which the top is set(unable to verify without removing the top) The back board is deeply chamfered to slide into rabbets in the sides and is secured with glued blocks inside the case and tacks along the lower edge. The drawers are likewise dovetailed front and back, the bottom board on four of the five with mitered edges to slide into rabbeted drawer sides: one of the tiny drawers varies in construction from the other four. The bottom board is chamfered along the edges, sliding into rabbets in the drawer sides. This fabulous dollhouse miniature measures about 1" tall. I'm not exactly sure what it is meant to be. My first guess was that it was that it was a hand painted lunchbox. But now I am thinking it was meant to be a trunk or some other kind of box. In other words, I don't really know, and I am not a dollhouse collector or person with most kinds of knowledge in general. I do know that this is a nice detailed piece, and it is signed on the bottom with what looks like MC 83. Selling as is. The fine print: Most all of my items are vintage and I get them from a variety of places. Therefore. I never say that items are mint or brand new or perfect. I basically just use my common sense and good judgement when describing things, and show lots of pictures. Antique Faience Bough Bulb Pot Hand Painted Miniature Bombe Chest Commode
This listing is for an antique faience pottery bough pot in the shape of a miniature bombe chest or commode. The piece is hand painted and measures 9" across the back. 7 3/4" across the front, 4 1/2" front to back, and 5" tall. There are many openings on the top to make a lovely display for bouquets or for forcing bulbs, 13 openings for smaller bulbs(crocus) and 1 larger opening for hyacinths, daffodils, etc. It also displays well on its own. I have photographed the areas on the piece where there is missing paint and glaze from use, particularly on the corners and a chip on the underside of the top edge. A reproduction set of miniature drawers in the 18th century Georgian/Regency style. The drawers look like 12 small ones but actualy open as 4.Each drawer is lined with red velveteen and has lion mask handles(3 of the rings are missing) Each side of the drawers is flanked by gilded corinthian columns the drawers are mahogany"coloured" with areas of panelling and carving etc.and stand on four carved style feet.The condition is reasonable with various knocks and wear etc but still look very impressive and although they do not have much age to them are quite a solid heavy item. Antique 1930s Art Deco Cedar Lane Hope Chest Miniature.
One of the oldest Cedar Lane miniature hope chests I have ever seen. Art Deco design from the 1930s. This box was fully restored. Outside of the box was cleaned and finished with several coats of MinWax Satin Varnish and hand-polished to a soft lustre with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. The wood has beautiful straight line graining and coloring. The box is 9" long x 4" tall x 4 1/8" deep. These miniture chests were given to the purchasers of a full-sized one to use as jewelry boxes. This one came from the Rice-Pappenheimer Furniture Company. The Lane Furniture Company was established in 1912 in Altavista. Virginia. It still has a functioning lock, but no key. Wonderful Antique Salesmans Sample Miniature BLANKET CHEST WOODEN 1800's
This is a wonderful antique primitive miniature wooden blanket chest with bun feet. It is in lovely condition with appropriate patina. It measures 8 1/2' long 5 1/4' wide and stands 5 1/2' tall. The maker created a wooden locking mechanism so that the drawer can stay secure with only the lid opening. You can see the peg in the photos. In the up position the drawer opens an closes, in the down position it stays secure. There is a lock though I don't have the key. This is a vintage Japanese chest of drawers. Recently purchased at an estate sale. I am unsure of it's age. A tag on the bottom reads Made In Japan. The chest is constructed of lacquered plastic and it measures 4 1/2" X 3 3/4" X 3 3/4" It is in good used and vintage condition with a chip in the lacquer finish on the top drawer. We are selling an Outstanding Tiger Maple Miniature Blanket Chest that is Gorgeous! This wonderful chest measures 17 1/2" wide. 8 1/2 deep, and 11" tall. Beautiful Dovetail case with two drawers that have hand chamfered bottoms. The apron and side feet cutouts are fantastic. It was made sometime in the 1900's but it is not period. I purchased this great miniature chest about 15 years ago and now I am downsizing and don't have room for everything. I am hoping this wonderful little Tiger Maple chest finds a good home. 19th C ANTIQUE MINIATURE CHEST DOCUMENT BOX FOLKSY PAINT DECORATED SQUARE NAILS
Up for your consideration is a folksy early paint decorated miniature blanket chest or document box. The paint is old within 20 years of chest being made. It's thin layer that has adhered to the chest very well and is very strong. There is some paint droplets on top, that are not original as shown in photo#2. It is constructed from solid black walnut with square nails. Its very heavy weighing about 12 lbs. It measures 17 1/4" Long By 10 1/4 deep( top) 10 1/2" deep(bottom) and stands 11 1/2" tall. It has age related stress wear by hinges. See photos, but it has no hairlines that run the entire lenght of top bottom or sides. this is a set of 1980's hardwood bachelor chest dresser for dollhouse furniture. this is my dollhouse furniture from my childhood and is for 1" scale at least I think it is. Definitely larger than 3/4" I am more than happy to combine shipping on any doll house items. this set is in great shape and you get the box. Since I am not an expert on furniture styles) It is an older piece of unknown age with dove tail joints that are hand made. This piece might have been a salesman. Tradesman or apprentice sample and it might have also been a sample of a future wedding furniture gift. In older times it was a custom to give to the newly weds a miniature of a piece of furniture that was being ordered as a present. Or it might be a jewelry box or a doll chest of drawers furniture. The wood in the piece is a combination of solid and veneered mahogany depending on ... morewhere it is. The backing is plywood and it seems it was added later. The top and the bottom are serpentine shaped as well as the hidden drawer. There are 3 drawers of decreasing size + 2 smaller drawers above which there is a hidden drawer. The hidden drawer has a book matched front. Beneath the hidden drawer and the two small drawers and the next drawer there are three dust boards. There isn't a dust board between the two last drawers. Although the rails are there. The bottoms of the drawers are carved in order to make them better fitting and sliding. The key holes are brass and at one time there must have been a lock on the bottom drawer since there are the remnants of the carvings to fit the lock. The eight tiny pulls are 3/8" in diameter x 1/2" deep. It has 4 bun feet. The total height of this chest is 12 3/4" tall x 12 7/8" wide and 6 1/4" deep. The drawers from top to bottom are(dimensions are as close as possible) Hidden drawer 10 1/4" x 5 3/8" x 1 1/8" 2 Small drawers 5 1/8" x 5 3/8" x 1 5/8" 4th drawer 10 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 1 3/4" 5th drawer 10 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 2" 6th drawer 10 1/4 x 5

2 Antique Miniature Salesman Sample Dresser Chest Drawers Vanity Doll Furniture?
Up for auction are 2 Antique Miniature Dresser. With pull out drawers and mirrors. Very solidly made! I am not quite sure as to the exact origin of these piece as if it was manufactured as a piece of doll furniture or if it was to be presented as a salesman sample. I think that they where saleman samplers, because the estate sale I purchased them at there was no kids toys or kids item sold at the sale. The larger dresser measures approximately 9 3/4" tall x 6 3/4" wide x 4 3/8" deep. It is solidly constructed of a fine hardwood( looks like oak wood to me) It features a mirror, but over many years, it lossing most of it refecting material around its edges(see pictures) it features 2 pull out drawers, but the one drawer is missing 2 of it wooden knob drawer pulls( see picture) The smaller dresser measures approximately 7" ... moretall x 6 3/4" wide x 3 1/2" deep. It is also solidly constructed of a fine hardwood( that also looks like oak wood to me) It features asmaller mirror, but over many years, it lost some of it refecting material in the bottom middle area(see pictures) it features 2 pull out drawers and has all of its drawers pulles. Both are in nice condition for its age. It does exhibit some loss/ wear to their mirrors and mising 2 drawers pulls, plus a few very small specks of white paint, that are not real noticeable. A couple very neat old pieces, these dresser would look amazing in any collection or doll house.
