This pair of pedestals is each 43 inches tall. They are not an identical match. They are inlaid with urns on the front and near the top. They have borders made of an exotic wood. These are English from the Edwardian period. They date to the late 19 th or early 20 th century. Each pedestal has a little bit of veneer missing on a bottom corner. C.1900 This is a beautiful piece of antique Meiji period Japanese furniture– a small Tansu chest(of a type known as a Haribako. Used for storing small objects, and ideal for use as a jewellery cabinet or desk tidy) The front door is of marquetry work. And opens to reveal three drawers with similar marquetry to the front of each. It was likely used as a desk tidy for a scholar or official, and was made around 1900. The interior is nicely fitted with a lift out tray with individual compartments with lids/tops with turned bone knobs. One of the larger compartments in the tray in missing the lid. Or perhaps it did not have one to have an open compartment. The piece measures 12 inches wide, 8 inches deep and 5 1/2 inches high. Unfortunately. A portion of the box suffered from some water damage and that area has come loose and lifted a bit with some of the small pieces coming out. Please see the pictures for the details. IT DOES NOT GET MUCH BETTER.a Victorian chess gaming table with two drawers.the top drawer has closed and open compartments. The middle front serpentine shaped compartment unfolds to show a sewing pin cushion. As well as two sliding compartments, one on each side. A second drawer holds the chess pieces but this would also be. And appears to have been used as a nice sewing cabinet. Great well done marquetry and clean cut design show work by a superior cabinet maker. Probably a custom request. The chess pawns are all hand carved and have different expressions. My favorite detail, but all are fabulous. They came with the table when I bought it but I think they are early 1900s additions. Wood Inlay Tea Tray, Round With Gilt Handles ~ This beautiful vintage tea tray is of a heavy hard wood elaborately inlaid with Italian marquetry to create a wonderful floral design of contrasting colours and grain textures. The romantic style of the piece is emphasised by elegant scroll borders and the fluidity of the free flowing walnut grain. The wood is finished in a high shine polish which has protected the craftsmanship and colours of the tray. The tray is edged in a gilt gold rim with two secure handles to either side. French Louis XVI Antique Satin Wood Marquetry Writing Secretary Desk Chest Table This is a magnificent Louis XVI style antique Secretary Desk leather top writing desk with satin wood burl wood insets and superb marquetry and parquetry bordering on satin wood grained fronts and sides with finely engraved brass mounts. Dolphin feet, and drawer pulls. It measures about 32 inches(81.28 cm) tall by 25.2 inches(64 cm) wide by 16 inches(40.64 cm) deep. It weighs over 41 pounds(18.6 Kg) by itself. Without any packing materials. It features two pull out drawers with wavy. Curved fronts, plus a slide out pull out leather topped writing desk platform that also can be taken completely out. The drawers are all dove tailed joined indicating earlier era construction and show aged wood inside. There is magnificent marquetry pinstripe bordering very finely ... moreinset wood pieces that are only found on the more exceptionally crafted pieces. Here's what I stated about this gorgeous cabinet's condition: One wood split crack and chip of inlaid veneer marquetry on front middle of bottom drawer. The drawers have some resistance when pulling out. But the can be pulled out completely and fairly easily, but just have some snug fit little tug drag to them, as does the slide out writing desk platform, but not at all a problem and just not real easy and loose pulling out. Some minor surfaces scratches, but other than these remarkably well preserved and beautiful condition dovetail joined antique writing desk cabinet. French Louis XVI Style Marquetry Inlaid Demilune Marble Topped Commode Early 20th Century Item# 130008LWP26 Simply gorgeous and perfectly preserved in every way. This fine French Louis XVI Style Commode is simply above reproach. At least a century after being crafted entirely by hand, the commode remains in nearly identical condition to when it left the shop. Clearly maintained in a home that cared for it and kept humidity at a stable level throughout it's life, the piece does not display the typical issues commonly associated with these heavily inlaid works of art. The mixed stone brèche d'Alep top is a wonderful variated surface. Full of color and activity, completed with a thin molded channel around the edge of the demilune form. The facade is a mix of five drawers and two cabinet doors; the top drawer is broad with crossbanded ... moreveneers framed in olivewood stringer inlay. It rests over a pair of drawers with a continuous inlaid image of a vase overflowing with flowers and foliage, hanging from a bow-tied ribbon draped on the keyhole escutcheon over a cross banded ground and framed in the same stepped rectangular olivewood stringer inlay that completes each drawer and door. The inlay is incredible intricate. And remarkably there is no peeling or lifting along the edges of this veneer, as typically happens when the piece is stored in an environment with poorly controlled temperature and humidity. On either side of the cabinet, small drawers swing outwards over the cabinet doors, these hand dovetailed at the back of each. The cabinet space is divided with a single shelf. The entire commode rests over turned and tapered legs that are topped and terminated in brass mounts. This is an outstanding find for any collector of French Louis XV and XVI antique furniture. Specifically if you seek out utmost quality in your furnishings. This state of preservation is difficult to find and is highly desirable by collectors and decorators alike.
