Inlaid trim surrounds each of the drawer fronts, and the classic brass toned pulls add to the look. The doors swing open to reveal an antiqued green interior with three generous shelves. This piece sits atop a ladies writing desk, with a lightly slanted lid that pulls back and rests on two pulls to form the writing surface. Inside, six pull out drawers and arched cubby holes provide generous storage. Underneath, the desk features three additional drawers, all with finished interiors and dovetail construction. Old Wood Hinged Marquetry Box Intricate Inlaid Design Mother of Pearl Accents
Description HINGED MARQUETRY BOX Offered for bids is a beautiful old. Possibly antique, hinged wood box with an intricate inlaid design. Crafted with skill, there are highly detailed geometric star shapes and lines on lid with geometric shapes/lines on all sides. There are triangular shaped mother of pearl accents along with some gold painted decoration. Bottom of box is undecorated finished wood. Unsure of wood type, but it may be walnut. Interior base and lid are lined with paper backed red velvet. Dovetailed joints are visible and hinge hardware looks like brass. Part of an estate purchase. Unsure of exact age, but I think this dates prior to 1950 and was made in the Middle East. Box is not marked. A Lovely. Intricately Designed Box CONDITION: No chips or cracks. There is varying slight to light wear on some edges and a few very small ... moreshallow nicks/dings. All the inlaid design appears to be intact. There are two or three tiny open spots. But I think this is just the way the pieces fit together. Some sections have very small pieces as part of the intricate pattern. Top of lid has a circular transparent stain- looks as if a glass was set on top of this at one time. I have not tried to clean or polish this for fear of damaging the inlay. Not sure of the proper product to use. This stain is not colored, and looks like it might be residue from moisture. It is visible, particularly when looking at the surface with box at eye level, but does not adversely affect the overall appearance of the piece. The bottom interior lining has two dark marks, and the velvet lined paper is partially lifted from the sides. This could easily be re-glued or removed to reveal the wood beneath. Interior has a light, slightly sweet musty smell- not offensive or unpleasant. Though slightly flawed, this remains a lovely little box. Please note: Apologies for the variance in color of the images. I was not able to reproduce the true color. Actual box has warm shades of brown. Externally walnut with a nice grain to it, inlaid to corner details as seen with crossbanded tulipwood edging, inlaid and brass mounted lock escutcheon and lid cartouche, and inlaid in two ... morewide bands to top and front of the box in a compendium of exotic woods of the period. It has its key working in the lock. Internally again walnut, with a tooled leather scribe surface, various compartments pen tray etc to the forward area. Under the forward scribe surface flap. lift it up, and within the base section is the flap concealing three secret drawers, spring operated that is released by pulling up vertically the left hand side inkwell partition/ divider. I have marked the box down slightly as internally there are some small niks to the wood, commensurate for a box that has seen some use, and there has been some 1980's restoration(bought like this by me) mainly to the scribe surfaces. But overall this is a very attractive, decorative box, with all the inlay present and nothing missing, no major damage, is strong, so it could be used today. Featuring stunning mahogany selections throughout the entire case, glowing with a fine finish and polish, it is very striking visually. The square top projects over a large top drawer which drops smoothly on brass elbow hinges to reveal a green felt lined writing surface. Over the writing surface is a tiny door with an ovular inlaid motif central framed in a thin rectangle of satinwood, notched at each corner. A tiny original key is still in the door, operating the working lock smoothly. The door opens to reveal a stack of three drawers with tiny original brass ... moreknobs. Flanking the door on either side are stacks of three drawers on either side; all nine of the drawers inside of the desk are hand dovetailed front and back with solid pine secondary woods and gorgeous mahogany veneer fronts. Beneath the desk surface are three graduated drawers, again featuring polished brass oval pulls- these are all replaced, but are period antique pulls. These drawers flow smoothly in and out of the piece. The apron of the case features an upside-down fan inlay beneath toothed and checkered inlay, the fan following the waving flow of the apron into splayed bracket feet. This is a beautiful work of Federal design- being a composed piece. This is not a collector piece. It is a stunning decorative piece that is fully functional in every way, while being incredibly beautiful in the total design. vintage late 1800's tiger oak top for treadle sewing machine. top measures 34 1/2 L x 17 1/2 W. closed. opened is 49 1/2 L x 17 1/2 W. machine opening is 14 5/8 x 17 1/4.dust collector is 19 L x 12 7/8 W x 7 7/8 D. it has an inlaid tape measure of 18 in. long.Very readable to the 1/8 inch!have never seen inlaid tape,anybody help?came off a Singer treadle machine. dust collector is quarter sawn on sides,with walnut veneer. center drawer is 21 inches outside-outside,inside rails,19 inches inside-inside,looks like swans or duck detail on ends.width is 1 3/4 on inside,outside is 2 1/4 in middle,4 1/2 in.on corners.hand-carved!

Unusual Quality Pair of Japanese Vases from the Meiji period circa 1900. Finely Decorated with overlaid copper birds and finely detailed flowers. SIZE: Approx 15cm or 6 inches in height CONDITION REPORT: Excellent condition apart from ware to rims shown in the last photo. Probably would clean away and still display beautifully. Old Vintage Cobalt Blue Glass Wall Pocket with inlaid peacock - Beautiful!!
This is an old cobalt blue glass wall pocket with a metal applied design of a peacock. This is really a unique glass wall pocket and measures about 7 1/2" high by 4" wide. It is in very good condition for it's age with light wear on the design. There is a tiny(1/4" max) flea bite' on the inside of the back rim. And the glass around the back hanging hole is not smooth, but looks to have been made that way. I've tried to show the back rim'flea bite' and hanging hole in the 3rd picture Overall, this piece is in very nice shape and displays beautifully. Keep an eye on my auctions.the prices have been dropping steadily. I need to clean out the old to make room for the new.

SAILOR MADE ANTIQUE MARTHA'S VINEYARD CANDLESTAND WITH INLAID TOP,
This unique antique candlestand was found in Martha's Vineyard. It is believed to be sailor made and its nautical heritage can be seen in the use of whale bone. Baleen and ebony in the inlay framed with curly maple, and in the acorn drop of the elegantly turned stem. It is crafted from walnut with a soft rich patina and is crowned with a crenulated gallery top. It measures 18"wide, 13"deep and 26.5" inches high and weighs 5 lbs. There is an old repair to the stem as shown in one of the photographs, but this does not affect the stability of the stand. There is a crack in the inlay and 3 small cracks in the gallery top, but they have been repaired and do not affect the stand's appearance.
