This beautiful old m ahogany plant stand features curved wood sides with inlaid striping and a spun solid brass jardinier insert. It measures 39" high and is 16" across at its widest dimension. I h ave NO idea as to what style to properly attribute this plant stand to. I have seen somewhat similar plant stands described as being Neoclassical. Edwardian, Louis XIV, Louis XVI, Empire or Louis Philippe. I am truly out of my element here! English? French? I simply do not know. I do not find any makers marks on it and I don't know when or where it was made. Based on some of its construction details thou gh, I think it likely it dat es from the early part of the 20th c entury. The stand is tight and sturdy an d t here are no repairs on it. I can find only one s pot on the corner edge of a leg where there is a small area w here the ... morewood is chippe d. Personally I wouldn't touch it- I' d just turn the stand so it was on the least visible side. The big gest condition issue I see is that the original finish has some whit ish areas from age deterio rat ion. I believe that the finish is lacqu er. And simply respraying it with a fresh coat of lacquer would soft en and meld into t he original finish to restore it. As such, I have avoided putting any thing on it that would reduce the effectiveness of a simple lacquer recoat. They have solid brass loop handles. The inlay is a neo-classical geometric pattern and has kept it colour far better than much Edwardian furniture. This item will have been made and probably retailed. In London. I have had them for half a dozen years. It came from a provincial auction in North Derbyshire. This is a mid century Federal style two over two drawer chest. The maker of this piece is unknown. It appears to be a good quality piece that is well made. This is made from mahogany and has a banded. Inlaid design framing the faces of the drawers and on the top of the chest. There is string inlay down the front legs. The drawers are jointed and tight. The handles on this have been replaced. The original handles were an oval brass design and there are signs on the drawers where they sat originally. The piece measures 32.5" in height. 42" in length and 20 3/8" in depth. This has the original porcelain casters with brass caps. The top two drawers have an inside depth of 3.25" The middle is 4.25" deep and the bottom drawer is 5.25" deep. Antique Chinese Bead gilded necklace carved inlaid stone glass lavalier rondelle
Bellport Jewelers& Rarities 631-286-7700 Description. I have never seen anything like this and feel free to share if you are one of those vintage jewelry specialists and recognize it. I believe it is of Chinese origin(basing that on the carved cinnabar and the carved brown bead) There are 10 beads ornately constructed with gilded rondelles and end pieces each hanging from a 15 1/2" gilded necklace that is stamped with the same pattern and is 10mm in width. The beads range from about 10mm to 20mm in width and on average hang about 1 1/2" down. There appears to be one missing since there is the black hanging bead as the photo shows. The 1st looks like a beautiful marble- next is an inlaid turqoise with an inlaid star pattern- then a orange peel like black bead that feels like celluloid to me- an olive brown carved with Chinese ... morecharacters and pictures- a orange and pale sky blue circular double bead that may be bakelite- a carved cinnabar with a lotus flower- a green/black/gold round bead that reminds me of a fountain pen material- a sapphire blue very odd shaped bead of glass(sort of looks like a head to me of an animal) a dark green ball of jade that has a cap of black celluloid and finally the last bead is a bright red bead with inlaid swirls of raised copper enamel and has a four petal topper. A most rare and unusual necklace. There are no markings. The clasp has an antique easy lock type spring ring that is a bit tight and needs some lubrication. Heavy it weighs 84 grams. Antique Inlaid Wood Sterling Thimble Holder & Sewing Thread Case
Sweet little antique thimble/threadholder wooden case. Beautifully crafted wood case(possible cherry. Rosewood, mahogany? with inlaid star design on the top. Complete with sterling thimble and wooden thread winder spool. Thimble has an ornate design around the bottom rim. Inside is marked STERLING with a star and 6 Case is complete and items stack together nicely. Top has a good fit to it and works well. Very good condition with no cracks. Chips, or breaks. Case measures 3" high and 7/8" in diameter.
