When I found this I thought that it was paper mache. Looking at it closer. It appears to be made out of whittled balsa wood and painted. It is Charlie Brown and Snoopy glued onto a piece of board. The fire hydrant is an old plastic pill container. The board is 7"x3-1/2" Charlie stands 4-3/4" tall. I believe that it was a pencil holder for a desk. Whoever made it did a pretty good job. It looks like Charlie& Snoopy have been re-glued at one time. Very unique and cute! US bids& shipping only.

This auction is for an older Oaxacan Wood Carving handpainted Ram. He stands 9 inches tall. Has removable ears and tail, which must have been seperately carved. He is not signed but came with a set of other ones I have on ebay right now. These hand carved colored figures are made in the State if Oaxaca, home of the Indians in Southern Mexico. The figures are handmade from Copal wood from the hills surrounding the Oxacan Valley using machetes and pocket knives. They first carve the basic shape of a figure in a few days, then hand sand and meticulouly paint each piece in great detail. It can take up to a week to finish one figure. I found this wonderful old wood carving from a dear gentleman that was downsizing. He told me his daughter brought it back to him from New Guinea years ago when she was in the Peace Corp. The wooden carving is about 8 3/4" tall. The face. Carved into the center of the solid wood has been brushed black. The base and the top remained natural wood in texture and shape; except the inside of the top of the carving has been hollowed out, crudely painted black. Offered is a very nice collection of mid century Iowa folk carvings. These were found in an old shoe box with an accompanying photograph of the carver Mr. H Nye Josleyn. Also included in the collection is a small ceramic work by Joselyn which has a chipped corner and his small custom made steel signature stamp. The carvings include a nice large prize pig. An Iowa farmer, and two geese. The Iowa Farmer carving is quiet exceptional and appears to be the oldest of the group. Encased behind glass in hand made eight sided octagon frame. As indicated on the back of the frame. The iemt was purchased in the Phillipines in the 1980s, and a later hand made frame was made for it. This wood carving although unsigned. Was made by a master wood carver. Actual wood carvings. Together with carved wood shaving techniques to obtain bird"feather" work like I have ... morenever seen before. The overall sculpture seems to be an amalgam of Free Masonry and Odd Fellows symbols. At one end we have the full bodied carved turkey with full expanded feathers. Its head down on the wooden central handle. In Philadelphia, we were believe this was originally found, the main Masonic Temple has a turkey above the portico entrance. Please remeber, at one time our National bird symbol was to be the turkey, but was changed to the stronger image of the American eagle. Beneath the turkey. We have the Odd Fellows three ring chain link symbol, carved out of the same piece of wood. The chain is carved next to the two hearts facing opposite directions as shown. If you think about it for a moment, if this is a folk art fan, your own hand will hold the staff of the fan over the hearts, so here again, the heart and hand symbol is genius! The top of the sculpture is an elaboarte"open fan" of open eagle bird feathers. As can be seen. The last feather was mounted askew. Now, this is a fault after framing, or it was purposely mounted this way to show the skill of the feather carving. Which was intended, I do not know. Note the last feather on the right side is tuck

Encased behind glass in hand made eight sided octagon frame. As indicated on the back of the frame. The item was purchased in the Phillipines in the 1980s, and a later hand made frame was made for it. This wood carving although unsigned. Was made by a master wood carver. Actual wood carvings. Together with carved wood shaving techniques to obtain bird"feather" work ... morelike I have never seen before. The overall sculpture seems to be an amalgam of Free Masonry and Odd Fellows symbols. At one end we have the full bodied carved turkey with full expanded feathers. Its head down on the wooden central handle. In Philadelphia, we were believe this was originally found, the main Masonic Temple has a turkey above the portico entrance. Please remeber, at one time our National bird symbol was to be the turkey, but was changed to the stronger image of the American eagle. Beneath the turkey. We have the Odd Fellows three ring chain link symbol, carved out of the same piece of wood. The chain is carved next to the two hearts facing opposite directions as shown. If you think about it for a moment, if this is a folk art fan, your own hand will hold the staff of the fan over the hearts, so here again, the heart and hand symbol is genius! The top of the sculpture is an elaboarte"open fan" of open eagle bird feathers. As can be seen. The last feather was mounted askew. But I rather doubt this attribution and believe the piece to be a find example of Oaxacan wood carving-regardless of provenance, the piece is sure to delight. The belly of the pig is carved with initials-what appears to be JTT-and then signed in silver with what appears to read JB. The piece measures about 6" long, standing around 3" tall. It comes to you in excellent displayed condition, with a few areas of light surface wear, but no significant damage. Beautiful Antique Arabia or India Folk Art Carving -- Rearing Horse & Man
This is one of six listings of carvings of this type. In all of our years of collecting we have never seen anything like these six panels that we offer here under separate listings. They certainly were not done by an artist frivolously. They are very old and have withstood time with minor upkeep. The inner panels have been re-glued to strengthen their unity and it is obvious their hanging apparatus was changed. But everything resonates with caution to keep them in good form and free of the possibility of damage occurring to the works. They are in great condition. This a vintage African Tree of Life/ Family Unity carving made from one piece of wood. The folk art ebony sculpture is the work of tribal craftsmen in Africa. Alebrije Rooster Oaxacan Wood Carving by Esteban San Martin Mexican Folk Art
Here is a nice piece of Mexican Folk Art. A wood carved, beautifully hand painted, Alebrije rooster. It was made in the village of San Martin. Tilcajete, Oaxaca City. It is signed on bottom by the artist. It reads: Esteban, then some hard to read letters. Then S. Martin, Tilcajete, Oaxaca. Then Oax Mexico. There is also an emblem marking on bottom of left foot. See photos. Rooster measures 4½ inches in height and is in very good condition. I find no damage, but it could use a very gentle cleaning. This is from my private collection(I’m in the process of downsizing) I don’t know when it was made. I purchased it at a high-end estate sale and have had it in my possession for some years now. Waters Igloo SD" Aside from being a rare piece of folk art it has historical value. Igloo was a town in the Black Hills where the military had a munitions storage ordnance depot. This is one of the most incredible pieces we have seen of its kind. The detail is outstanding. Cowboy has a hat, spurs, flask, scarf, tall boots, etc. Horse is so full of character. It is whimsical but a very skillfully carved piece of art. Stands about 8 3/4" tall. The front of the base is a nice size for a candle, in very faded lettering you can see it says" Lets Park Here At. Have never seen another piece quite like this one! Good condition, one of the horse's legs has ... morebeen cracked and glued but not too noticeable. I WAS HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THE CORRECT COLOR OF THE WOOD. THE HEADPIECE IS GREEN WITH BLACK HIGHLIGHTS, BUT IS FADED. PAINTED BLACK ON THE FACE. TEETH AND MOUTH HAVE RED PAINT ON THEM.
