Wonderful old wood carving of a Russian Squirrel. It looks like it could be a candle holder. It measures 5 1/4 inches tall and the base measures 4 1/2 inches x 3 5/8. It's signed and dated on the bottom by the artist. Robert Patscheider. It was given as a gift to Dick Kohrt in 1934. Kewaunee, Wisconsin. The carving consists of several pieces of wood. One of the squirrel's ears is broken off. It's a lightweight wood.

Large antique American folk art trade sign whimsy depicting a blue whale ca 1900-20. The work is beautifully carved and pained and has a glass marble for an eye. The work was originally found on cape cod MA in the 1960s and has been in a private collection before I purchased it. It was probably part of a trade sign for a restaurant. Antique Wood Butter Press Primative Dovetail Tongue Groove Folk Art Cow Carving
The butter press is in really nice condition. Just some wonderful craftsmanship in the construction of this one. Now when you look at the craving in the press it might explain why this press looks to have seen little if any use. This is just a guess. But I think this is a father son project for mom. All the details of this press are exact. The corner work, the way the handle is turned to fit perfectly flush with the top(looks like a button on top) the carved blades of grass. Then you get to the cow. It had to have been a child that carved it. Looks like dad tried to dress it up a bit with his work on the horns ears and tail. Here is a great find! An Oaxaca Mexican Folk Art Hand Painted Wood Carving of a gecco or dragon lizard. These handcrafted pieces are one-of-a-kind and are wonderful sculptures with ingenious shapes and amazing patterns and colors. This is an older piece. And has some signs of age- a mark here or there, a white spot on its belly, and looks like it may have had a string around its belly to hang up at one time, but doesn't detract from its beauty. Measures approx 11" from the end of its mouth to where the tail starts to bend and then the tail is another 11" long. Antique African wood Carving sculptures Tribal folk art
More pictures below in the listing description. Solid Wood Sculptures depicting Tribal African Man and Woman. This set is in very good condition. Nice quality weighty wooden sculptures. The man is in mint condition upon close inspection of the female figure you can see the underside base has a crack and a small separation on the side where the pony tail comes down. But this is not very noticeable and adds character to the piece. As you can see by the pictures you can not tell there is any damage. Also her nose has a rub where the wood shows lighter then the rest of the piece. You can see that in the pictures but the finish is smooth. When you turn the Sculptures over you can see the whittle marks on the base of the wood. I have many pictures to show the detail. Each Stands: 9" Tall x 4" Deep x 3" Wide.

Oaxaca Figures. Giraffe Set I purchased these figures myself in Mexico about a decade ago. They are signed by the artist. Rafael Mendoza. The larger of the figures measures approx 16.3" tall and the smaller of the figures measures approx 8" tall. I have had these on display since I purchased them. The two smaller ones(7” and 8” would make good tackle box or decoy box handles and screw holes are already drilled. This is a bamboo figurine depicting dancers with the Japanese folk song called the Sado Okesa from Niigata Prefecture of Japan as it is inscribed on their hat. It is one of the most famous and well-known folk songs of Japan. Though it was originally just simply called the Okesa or the Aikawa Okesa where this particular song was often sung. The recording ... morecompany had changed the name to Sado Okesa for marketing purpose during the 1920's. The song has always been performed with dancing with women wearing a characteristic straw hat like this piece. The lyrics of the song were newly composed with rhythmical 7.7,7 and 5 syllables that add energy and a sense of an up beat tempo automatically. These new lyrics were selected among the submitted texts for the open prize contest in order to promote the Sado tourism around the same time when the name of the folk song was changed.
