An early “English Sterling” sugar basket, Ball, Black & Co., New York 1860-1868
I am not exactly sure when Ball. Black& Co began using the higher British standard of sterling, in line with many of the more prestigious firms in a move to adopt a national sterling standard, which finally occurred in 1868. The firm was established in 1851. Though they can trace their history back to Marquand& Co in 1810 in Savannah, Georgia. It is in very good condition. There is no damage or repairs. No monogram. Marked at both ends of the foot. As pictured. Dimensions: 7” long. 7.5” high to top of handle. Weight: 9.5 Troy oz.

For Sale is a 3 1/4" W by 4 1/2" Long Painted Tin English Box. Inside are adorable hand painted numbers from 1-8. The tin box is painted black with a lovely painting of three red/ pink roses with long greens and leaves. The tole numbers are painted black with pinks and blues making up the daisy- like flowers with green vines and leaves. Thereare tiny holes in the numbers for you to actually nail them and use them if you would like. They are absolutely adorable! I purchased these myself in an antique store about fifteen years ago. NICE ENGLISH MARTINI HENRY ARTILLERY SWORD BAYONET P1879 MARK I
This is a nice example of an English Artillery Sword Bayonet P1879. Mark I which was designed to fit the Martini Henry rifle. It is well marked on both sides of the ricasso as well as on the pommel. It is mounted with a sawback blade that measures 25 3/4 inches in length which remains in nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The hard leather grips are checkered in design and are fastened by rivets and although reflect wear do remain in healthy condition. The leather scabbard is brass fitted and is missing the bottom third portion including the base fitting. Pieter(or Petrus or Pierre) van der Borcht was born in the city of Malines(Mechelen) Southwest of Antwerp in the Netherlands, around 1540(some say 1545) He died around 1608. He is thought to have been the son of Jacques van der Borcht, also an artist, who in 1562 became the doyen of the painter's guild in Malines.
