I have had this saddle for 25 years. It hasn't been used the last 20 years. but has been oiled regularly. it shows some wear on the suede. It is for a child or small adult I stand 5 foot and used it a couple of times This saddle is a 14 inch cortina saddle made in Argentina that is in great condition. Emblem books are a category of illustrated book printed in Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries. Typically containing a number of emblematic images with explanatory text. Scholars differ on the key question of whether the actual emblems in question are the visual images. The accompanying texts, or the combination of the two. This is understandable, given that the first emblem book, the Emblemata of Andrea Alciato, was first issued in an unauthorized edition ... morein which the woodcuts were chosen by the printer without any input from the author, who had circulated the texts in unillustrated manuscript form. T.B. Hardy (English 1842 - 1849) Antique Signed & Dated 1889 Maritime Watercolor
Up for auction is an original watercolor framed and dated 1889 seascape/nautical painting attributed to well listed artist Thomas Bush Hardy(English 1842- 1849) The painting is of a Dutch Seascape with what looks like an old wooden Dutch Lighthouse overlooking a fleet of masted ships sailing out of a harbor into sea. It is quite unique under a framed oval matte with a period gold over gesso painted frame. The frame is in fair condition and can be displayed however. Would really do the painting justice to reframe as its quite a masterful piece. The painting is in very good shape with what looks like a minor area of wear on the left side as shown in the fourth picture(small streak, possibly from running moisture at one time) otherwise in excellent condition. It is signed on the lower left what looks like T.B. Harvy(it also appears that moisture ... morecondensing on the inside may have caused the Hardy name to fade and run on the D letter making it look like a straight line or a V) On the back it is written T.B. Hardy- 1889- RBA, therefore we are attributing it to TB HARDY as it is the subject matter and style of Hardy as well as is signed and dated on the back. It is very hard to notice the imperfections and would look fabulous in a new high end frame. Hardy's paintings have recently been bringing thousands at auction and are highly collectible for thier unique maritime subject matter and themes. This is one great example which could be displayed as is or reframed for a striking piece. Hardy's paintings are very difficult to find in the USA as they are highly d esired by Dut ch and UK collectors alike making this a rare opportunity for vict oria n maritime collectors. Here we offer a great large Blue and White Venables& Baines which also traded under name Venables& Mann Co. And subsequently John Venables& Co. This is a Staffordshire pottery, that produced wares mid 19th to mid 20th century. This platter is maker marked in blue underneath. The pattern name is UNION, which you will see on the top of the mark. The center design has a pastoral scene with horses pulling a plow, peasant worker with his family, amongst them a woman with a basket on her head. In the background is featured a Chateau/ Castle on the edge of a lake, with a town of the other side of the water. Main subject is encircled with a continuous wheat design band. The rim of the plate has 8 scenes with farm buildings and a man driving cattle. These are separated with sheaths of grain. The instrument itself only has a serial number engraved on it of 2101. The case also has ... morestenciled"Knox H.S. Band" on the side. 2) We believe that this instrument is of European manufacturing based on the key style and details. Most likely German, possibly Theo Markardt of Erlebach. The keys are solid Silver and have two special features, range to low Bb and automatic octave mechanism. 3) Since we cannot find records of this maker. We are estimating the age of the instrument based on the key style to be somewhere either just before or after World War II(1930's to 1950's era) or possibly even earlier. Also noted is that several of the keys on this instrument are ringed with open holes where the finger must cover, where today's English Horns are covered keys(conservatory) which also was taken into consideration of age. This English Horn has been professionally overhauled by Sue Shockey. A well renowned Woodwind instrument repair specialist. She once worked many years at the Woodwind& Brasswind as a senior woodwind repair specialist. Now she has her own repair business, Two Sparrows, in Mishawaka, Indiana. At one time it contained a gold wash on the inside. But the wash is completely removed. It meausres 3 3/4" in height& 5 1/8" in diameter. Other than the gold wash no t being present. The Bowl also features a nice pedestal foot and is in very fine all original condition being very clean throughout with no bad wear to the Silver Plate. Even the inside is bright and clean, I am sure the new owner will be most pleased. The Rose Bowl is a very nice size for use measuring approx 7-1/4" wide across the top and standing 6" tall. The Bowl is marked in the bottom Sheffield Reproduction, it is a Repro of an original from the 1820's but was made in the 1920's or 30's and is now a desirable Antique itself. Adams Staffordshire "English Scenic" Red Sugar Bowl and Creamer
Antique set that measures appr. 4" tall by 5" from handle to spout on the creamer the sugar measures appr. 7" handle to handle and is 4 1/4" tall. The creamer has no chips cracks or crazing and no repairs. The sugar bowl has crazing. An inside rim chip and the handle has been repaired as shown in the last 2 pictures.
