Very Rare English Georgian Silver Enamel Compass 1795! Very good condition. No dents and fully functional. Enamel dial with 90 degrees numerical angles as can be seen in the provided images. The hallmarks identify that this piece is made of sterling silver from the city of London in the year of our lord 1795 by the silver smith William Jasper. The approximate diameter of the circular portion 4.7 cm(1 15.5/16 inches) And the approximate vertical length fully extended is 7 cm(2 12/16 inches) It retains its original crystal glass cover which only has a couple tiny scratches a few mm in length but as seen in the provided photos barely visible extremely rare for its age. A true rarity so do not let this fine piece of history fall out of your grip. Hi I have this boxed cutlery set for sale. This set is boxed in some kind of leather. I think it may be snake. Not sure, it looks like it though. The box closes with two metal press downs which are intact and rust free. The box opens and closes freely. The set comprises of six fish knives and seven forks. All are with cream handles. I'm not sure what the handles are made of though. Wow. These are some gorgeous English bookends. These are from my personal collection. I'm sad to see them go but I need to make some room and would love to pass these on to someone else who will enjoy them as much as I have. The griffin. Griffon, or gryphon is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. The lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle was the king of the birds. The griffin was thought to be a powerful and majestic creature. Griffins are known for guarding treasure and possessions. Most statues have bird-like talons. Although in some older illustrations griffins have a lion's forelimbs, hindquarters and eagle's head. These bookends are English and are marked" ENGLAND" on the back of the leg and base. Now comes the question of the metal? The ... moreEnglish love their brass and could be of that metal or could be bronze. I lean somewhat towards bronze because brass turns black extremely quick and these don't have a lacquered finish and I would think they would not be this bright. Golden color. They have not been polished either. The backs and underneath the base are painted gold over the bronze which was a common practice in the early 20th century and is still done today. You can see underneath on the edge of the base the bright gold. Also, if you look at the wings they have that darkened patina that just screams bronze. I will let you make that decision but either way brass or bronze this is an old and beautiful pair! The bookends measure 7 1/2" tall by 6 1/2" round and weigh 5 pounds for the pair unpacked. They are in excellent condition with a couple of paint spatters on the base and on the wings of one. It should come off with some polish remover and have just not got around to doing so myself. This i s a great 19th cent ury Majolica Begonia lea f pattern bread plate or plat ter with original finish and very little signs of use. The dimensions are about 11 1/2 in ches long; 8 1/2 inches wide and about 1 1/2 inches d eep. There are no c hips or glaze wear noted. However; there is one very tight crack about 1 7/8 in ches long that does not detract from the quality of this piece(see picture 6 and 7) This piece displays well but is being started at a lower price be c ause of the m inor damage. Massive Antique British / English M1796 Cavalry Sword / Saber with Scabbard
British light cavalry saber. 1796 pattern, with steel scabbard. Curved steel blade marked“Osborn” This well-known pattern of cavalry sword replaced the 1788 Light Dragoon sword and was used throughout the Napoleonic wars by British light cavalry. The same pattern was carried by both officers and troopers, although the officers often had blue and gilt decoration. The sword was designed by Major-General John Le Marchant, the famous cavalry leader, innovator and founder of the Royal Military Academy now based at Sandhurst. Henry Osborn of Bordesley in Birmingham was commissioned to make the sword according to Le Marchant’s design and it was approved by the Duke of York. The sword is 37.5 inches overall in length and the blade is 32.5 inches. This is a two page document dated 9 March 1694. In the reign of English King William III. The document is written in Latin and is in quite good condition considering its age of almost 320 years. I'm not sure if this is a deed or some other legal piece but the decoration around both pages is solid and very unusual. In addition is the picture of the king in the top left hand corner of the second page. It would be a beautiful piece framed. Here is a beautiful golf trophy/loving cup. It measures about 3 in from the base to the rim plus an additional 1/2 in to the top of the handles. It is about 3 1/2 in from end of handle to handle. It has English hallmarks denoting London showing it is at least.925 Sterling and I can not quite make out the maker's mark. It is either CE. GE or OE. The front of the cup says, S.G.C. Men's 18 Holes Medal Play 9-4-1933. Aside from the slightest indentation, and I do mean Slightest, it is in beautiful condition. I only cleaned it up enough so one can read it. Being offered for sale is this superb English Victorian Pollard Oak Fancy Carved Side Cabinet/ Nightstand circa 1880. This splendid 19th century cabinet is an excellent size allowing it to be used in most any room of your home. This cabinet is executed in the rare and highly sought after Pollard oak. Pollard oak is a cultivated variety of oak grown in sections of Europe for its particular figure of grain. The small limbs of this tree are cut into rounded heads close to the tree and as the tree grows larger the stunted heads are included in the wood growth. Then when the tree is harvested for lumber these heads produce burl or knots which form very unusual grain figures in the wood which are highly sought after by high end furniture makers. This process is a slow one in which it takes many. Many generations for a tree to develop the the beautiful ... moregrain as seen in this cabinet in the pictures. This beautiful cabinet measures 30 inches in height.18 inches wide and 14 1/2 inches deep and weighs approximately 40 lbs. Civil War, Indian Wars Cavalry English Style Riding Boots
Up for your bidding pleasure is an awesome pair of boots for reenactment or display. These boots are in very good condition and have been used on a Civil War display figure. They are a smaller size that I could not see inside the boot but they measure 10 1/2 inches long and 15 1/2 inches tall. They are completely leather lined and I would suspect them to be quite old. The leather is soft and supple with no cracking. This is an English style riding boot as many of the Officer's and soldiers preferred. This fine pair of boots will be a great addition to your historical display or if you chose( and they fit you) just to wear as your reenactment or western fast draw competition. The walnut wood is smooth and worn with a rich aged patina. The tray has three sections. One long and two smaller on the opposite side divided by a center board incorporating the cut out handle. The wooden tray. A utilitarian staple of the 18th and 19th Century is in very good condition. It has survived it's often damaging purpose with only minor scratches and losses to the finish. The underside of the tray is unfinished walnut which would polish beautifully. The tray measures 15 5/8" wide x 9 7/8" deep x 4 3/8" to the top of the handle.
