Restored, antique fireplace mantels salvaged from an old plantation home in Central Georgia. Each mantel is made entirely of red oak(no veneer) and dates back to the 1880's. The lower half of each mantel has a fairly straightforward design with a few accents including a turned. Tapered column on each leg; a carved starburst motif above each column; and chamfered edges on both sides of each leg. The upper half of each ... moremantel has 4 shelves(2 long and 2 short) a recessed panel in the center contoured with egg and dart molding and an oval opening for a mirror; 2 turned. Tapered columns with a carved plinth block in the middle; and a lovely crown with curved ends. Glass: One of the mirrors was missing. And the other had very little silvering left. They will need new mirrors(flat or beveled) which we could order and install for you. If you would like a bigger mirror, we could remove the whole panel(the area in between the ornate molding) and install a rectangular mirror. Email and let us know what you would like, and we'll get you a quote. Restoration: At the point of salvage. The mantel was covered under many layers of paint, and some parts were broken or missing(mostly decorative appliqués) We acquired the mantels in pieces. This facilitated the stripping process. But made putting them back together very difficult. Since we didn't have all of the appliqués, and we are not the best wood carvers; we only put back the appliqués that we had enough to evenly distribute between both mantels. There were a couple of structural pieces that we had to fabricate, and we made them using

Beautifully Carved Antique English Oak Coffer Blanket Box Chest
Beautifully Carved Antique English Oak Coffer Three front raised panels are elegantly carved with fine acanthus leaf motif. The 7/8" solid top is made with breadboard ends. The 1" thick sides are panelled and beaded. The back consists of two reverse-raised panels in a 1" thick frame. The skirted bottom conceals a set of four small metal casters. The inside is all open. This piece shows beautiful rich dark brown patina throughout. This coffer took some considerable skill to build and. Although it is an antique with the usual slight bumps, it's excellent condition reflects the care with which this piece was crafted and treated through the years. The hinges and locking mechanism(no key) are solid brass. The top shows a couple of age cracks that are normal for a piece of this vintage. Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia. PA Victorian Home. It was originally in the Master Bedroom as a his and hers closet front. It is made of oak and is currently painted. There are nice pediments along the top with carved flowers. Carved corbels and carved brackets. The legs have fluted pilasters. Each door has a raised panel at the top. There is a mirror in the middle and a flat panel with fluting at the bottom. The openings at the bottom were originally for drawers. It measures 69.25 inches wide by 90 inches tall. It would make a great entertainment cabinet. Linen cabinet or butlers pantry. Overall. It is in rough condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. This needs TLC. Both mirrors need replaced. The drawers and some moldings around the drawers are ... moremissing. Up for bid is a spectacular antique 19th century hand carved bog oak box from Killarney. Ireland. This is a stunning piece and available just in time for that special gift for St. Patrick's Day. This rare box has a deep rich patina and has ornate carvings throughout. The box has carved images of clovers on all sides and with the inside doors. The lid with a leaf scalloped edge surrounds a celtic cottage with tall trees flanking both sides. The doors have roses on all corners and a celtic castle on the right door and a cathedral/ church on the left door. There are three draws, top draw has carved grapes and leaves, middle draw has acorns and oak leaves and the bottom draw has clovers. From the Netherlands comes this carved oak barometer and thermometer combination measuring 17 3/4" by 7" The ground glass is set in a brass ring. The dial reads in Dutch. Antique oak Hand Carved TRAMP ART folding wood frame
TRAMP ART FOLDING FRAME This is a beautiful wood frame with side panels that fold in. The carving has a flower at the top of each panel with scroll work and leaves on the sides and a banner at the bottom. The back of each opening of the frame has carved wooden pieces that turn and open to insert pictures. One side of the frames does not have glass. The other side has a broken piece of glass and the center glass is in tact without any breaks. The workmanship is incredible, surely a prized piece for a collector. Stands 17" tall base is 15" x 5 1/2" width of frame with doors open is 25" side frame 8 x 11 1/4" window opening is 6 1/2 x 4 1/2" center fram is 17" tall x 11" window opening is 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" The wood appears to be oak.

Hand Carved 1700's Norfolk Va Oak Boot Jack

This is a home on the water with 2 old forts that housed troops from Alabama and Virgina in the early civil war.

1700's Maritime Carved Oak Ship's Mermaid
This is a 1700's maritime icon of good fortune. This mermaid is honey smooth oak. And likely was mounted in the captain's birth, as there is not pitting from salt water. These icons are exceptionaly rare. Because the seas usually reclaimed these pieces in lieu of them being stored in a long forgotten sea chest in the family's attic. The carving on this piece appears English in origin. And the mermaid measures; 14" x(3.5" x(1.5" Thank you for your consideration to this rare icon of good fortune over the high seas.

Antique Carved Oak Server Made in England Circa 1880.
This is an amazing Server with superb carvings to the top and base. There are 3 drawers to the base. Which have no handles, but you put your finger under the drawer to pull it out, maybe it was made so children could not pull the drawer out. There are two carved fish either side. And carved faces to the back, which may be the family. The condition is very good. And l would say it was made in England or possibly Wales circa 1870, l purchased it from a house in South Wales UK. The top comes of the base so it is easy to transport. Measurements are 74 long 80 high 24 deep. The base has what we call a dog kennel to the center were the dog would have slept.with two heavily carved doors to either side.
