It measures 54 inches tall by 7.5 inches square at the base and 6 square at the shaft. Overall it is in very good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It is a two piece unit. It includes two keys. One for the doors and one for the drawers. Each key is embossed with a devil’s face. Lots of nice carvings feature an Indian Princess with fruit and vegetable embellishments. The drawers are dovetailed and completely of oak as are all secondary woods. The glass is all original and wavy. The inlaid top of veneer looks like squares one way and triangles from another perspective, which changes as you walk around the table. The draw leaves are straight tiger-sawn oak and measure 20 inches wide. When they are pulled out, the table top grows from 54 inches wide to 94 inches wide. The depth is 37 inches and the height is 31 inches. It is finished in a dark oak finish, and the overall condition is really nice and has only minor nicks and dings. One lovely feature is a solid oak cabriole leg carved base with shell carving right in the center of the extra deep skirt. Here is the best SOLID OAK antique American roll top desk I have seen in many years. It was recently purchased from a local estate of a woman who had been in the antique business since the 1960's. I remember visiting her shop which was super interesting with lots of nooks and crannies filled with beautiful and out of the ordinary mostly American antiques. This desk was purchased in 1969 by a man who ended up as her husband and it remained in their family until now. Apparently. As the story goes, he was a student then and could not afford to buy the desk so he worked it off by doing odd jobs and helping around the shop. Everything is original from the finish to the locking system for the drawers and lock set and sliding locking mechanism for the top to the castors to the drawer slides to the fabric on the tambour door to the hardware and ... moredrawer pulls. There are four drawers with the shell carved handles on one side and three drawers and four handles on the other side as the bottom drawer is the double door. There is also a"secret" drawer under the side with the four drawers. If interested in a photo of this. Then just let me know. Looks as if it was added after.but a hiding place. It has all of the striking features of a top of the line roll top desk or curtain desks as they were called back in the day. This desk is top quality solid quartersawn oak with beautiful woodgrain patterns and patina and may possibly be a Stickley Brandt based on photos of their desks which were being produced in the late 1800's from the book"Furniture Made in America by E& R Dubrow" It is very similar to their top of the line model with the shell carved handles and quartersawn oak paneled sides and rear. The fitted interior is fabulous with lots of drawers with the original small wooden knobs. A few of knobs are are chipped but all drawers and pulls are present and original which is very difficult to find! Neat Carved Front 2 Tier Oak Tea Cart Tea Trolley Rolling Bar From England
This auction is for a neat vintage Two(2) Tier Tea Cart or Tea Trolley from England. These can also be used as a printer stand. Rolling bar and even a TV stand. This one has pretty"turned post legs" with pretty carving on the front side of the top shelf. The sides& back of the top shelf are"fluted" One side has been left open on the top shelf so it's easy to slide things on and off. The bottom shelf is bordered all the way around. It's made out of oak& oak venner. The cart has a medium dark oak patina to it. The cart is 25 3/8" X 17" and 28 1/2" tall. The bottom shelf is about 9 1/2" off the floor and it's about 16" between the shelves. It has some blemishes to the finish(light or dark spots or marks) as well as some nicks. The oak retains a rich, lustrous complexion and a pronounced grain that are sure to complement any setting. The carvings are remarkably detailed, with a central, coat-of-arms style carving flanked by a pair of roses. Each drawer is adorned ... morewith elegant brass swan neck pulls and features dovetailed joints. Each of the sides also features lovely inset paneling, making this bureau a beautiful sight to behold from any angle. The interior features six small drawers, six open compartments and a single small cabinet in the center with a carved rose on the door. The desk is inlaid with rich green leather bordered by gold tooling, which makes an excellent writing surface. This beautiful antique American quartersawn oak dresser has lovely carving across the top above the mirror and serpentine front two over two drawers below. It stands 81 inches tall and measures 44 inches wide by 22 inches front to back. The dresser travels easily in two pieces as the mirror top section is 48 inches tall and the base top surface is 33 inches tall. There are two smaller drawers across the top with two larger drawers below. I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design. Antique carved oak Green man panel footstool Traditional furniture wood carving
An old footstool. With a carved Gothic panel top depicting the"Green Man" of English folklore. The panel looks quite a bit older than the legs. I suspect that the panel originally came from some other piece of furniture. And was converted into a footstool, perhaps some time in the 20th century? The top is three-quarters of an inch thick. And measures 14 1/2 inches x 6 1/2 inches Altogether a nice decorative piece. With a good traditional country theme. The edges of the top panel have clearly been scuffed and knocked quite a lot. Particularly along the edge which is the"bottom" of the picture- the long edge beneath the Green Man's chin. Condition: Good condition. With no major damage, but plenty of marks, scuffs and scrapes from normal use. The panel that forms the top of the stool appears to be considerably older than ... morethe base and legs. It stands well. With just a little play if you wiggle the legs. It is a perfectly adequate footstool. But I don't think it is quite solid enough to sit on.
