Just purchased on Friday. From the estate of the NY artist/ watercolorist Margret Martin, an absolutely beautiful pair of early twentieth century hand carved& painted wooden angel sculptures, Italian, I believe. They are about 8" tall, 6 1/2" wide. The carvings are not marked, but they are comparable in quality to the very finest ARNI sculptures. The condition is very good, one small chip visible on the hairline of the trumpeter, otherwise very minor wear only.

I purchased this angel along with another one from an Ebay listing about 8 years ago. I was told at the time that the angels were from a church in Oklahoma that had been demolished. This little angel is made from a solid block of Honduran mahogany. The block is machine turned to get the shape then the detail is hand carved. The small base is hollow so that it could be attached to the statue. The wood is the finest mahogany in the world and the carving is masterfully done. This is not a mass produced item. Estimated retail value is between $300- $500. This angel came from Honduras 20 years ago. She is 15" tall and 12" from wing tip to opposite side. I would guess her weight to be about 5 lbs.

Large 1920s SUPERBLY Hand-Carved Right-Facing Angel Skin Coral Cameo Brooch
This is one of the most beautifully hand-crafted and finely detailed angel skin coral cameo brooches I have ever seen! The brooch is not signed. But I have been assured that the frame is made of gold-fill. The cameo itself is hand-set into a gold bezel and then mounted upon the gold twisted rope frame. The brooch dates back to the early 1920s or earlier, judging by the overall fine carving and the older"C" clasp on the underside, so indicative of much fine and costume jewelry from the early part of the 20th Century(see last photo below) The brooch is relatively large- 1⅞" down by 1⅝" across. And it's carved from just one piece of coral! Featured is the right-facing profile of a young girl with elaborately styled hair and wearing a close-fitting(cloche? hat containing many rosebuds and petaled flowers.
