This is one of the most impressive mantle's I've had. At first I thought it was primitive but it's definitely Victorian and called Stick& Ball. It was for a drafting firm or school house as the little drawers have pencil trays. Which I've photographed for you. It's actually 2 pieces. The bottom is a standard mantle front which we added a little interior lip to b/c our fireplace was a bit smaller. So you can fashion this around various sized fireplaces. The top section is a topper that sits on top and will need to be bolted/ affixed to the wall and rests on the mantle-top. The entire piece you are seeing here is 66" wide and 68" tall from the ground to the top ball on either corner. I see no detrimental damage to it whatsoever. It's clean and lovely. The machine itself had a patent date of 1881(see picture- sewing machine not included) Te drawers have the original handles and ornate details on the side of the drawer(one side only) and on the front of the drawers. These drawers are very old and have some wear. The bottom drawer frame does no have the center guide still in tact. They come in as-is vintage condition. Lovely to look at and very functional! A similar one can be seen on Downton Abbey! PBS Closets. Storage space, in a beautiful package that is this Armoir. It comes apart for easy moving. She travels well. And goes back together very easily. She has two hanging sections on either side. A laundry box in the bottom of the right side, I have always used it for shoes! The middle section behind the mirror has a chest of drawers with 3 drawers with a"linen press" above(pull out shelves) I have all the shelves. But I have more recently used it as a TV place in my bedroom. She is in great Antique condition. The only missing parts are the door knobs! that have always been missing since I bought her, I never found knobs I liked and got used to her without the knobs. I also had the mirror door hinges changed, the wieght of the mirror had put ... moretoo much strain on the original, so they were replaced with a piano hinge, to spread out the stress! Otherwise she has all her original hardware, hooks, drawer pulls etc. The Measurements: 90" wide at the widest crown top. 85" wide at the base. 82" tall. 20" deep for the two side hanging sections. Offered for bids is an early 19th century Sheraton chest of drawers measuring 42 ½” high& 40” wide. Top measures 40 ½” wide& is 19 ¾“ deep with an appropriate rear over hang. Four graduated drawers with matching flame veneered fronts. I suspect this might be walnut but may also be a brown mahogany. Bought out of Reading PA. All drawers are dovetailed& beaded. The drawers runners are worn but run smoothly. There is some small chipping to the beading. One of the balls of the right front foot has a chip. Retains its locks. Brasses are replacements. Evidence of other pulls. The chest has been refinished at least once. There are some cross grain scratches on the sides from previous stripping. Beautiful French antique pyramid mahogany miniature chest of drawers
This is such a beautiful miniature chest of drawers. I bought it from France so it is likely to be french. Made in pyramid mahogany with a dark black/greyish marble top. The knobs are made of metal. I believe this to made second half 1800´s.1860-1880. Beside being beautiful it has no less than Two! hidden compartments.one at top and one at bottom. To open the one at the top. You have to open the first drawer. To be able to open the one att the bottom you have to pull out the second drawer and use a little pull mechanism hidden on the inside of the chest. Now this could be an ideal jewelry box. And to keep secret love letters in the hidden compartments. BUT. It could also be a lovely display with you french fashion dolls or french bebe´s. Constructed of solid oak and of good quality construction. Dovetail joined with metal fixings to the corners of the case. There are catches which are in full working order which hold the front leaf in place when closed. The front leaf removes to reveal five graduating drawers each with it's original bakerlite drawer knob. The drawers are with the original baize lining excluding the bottom drawer as has been phtotographed. Also the original baize is missing from the fall front leaf- it has been later replaced but could do with re-lining. Antique vintage armoire wardrobe waterfall--closet cedar lined--5 drawers
A pre-owned armoire wardrobe with original casters- in the waterfall design from the art deco period. A metallic gold seal inside the top drawer reads Hooker Bassett Seal of Quality. Stenciled on the back is XO 30 ROBE. It is 36" wide x 60" tall x 20" deep. With inside closet measurements of 20" deep x 16-1/2" wide x 56" high. The drawers are dovetailed and four drawers are 15-1/4" x 14-3/4" x 8" deep. The fifth(top) drawer measures the same accept it is 6" deep. The mirrored top adds 6" to that side height measurement. Overall, the original casters add 2" to the height. They also make it easy to move. The knobs and pulls are of a white metal with marbleized pink thermoplastic decoration-celluloid or Catalin. Etc. It is a quality wardrobe in very good solid condition. There are very ... moresmall pieces of veneer missing mostly on the bottom. There is a tiny piece missing on the top edge of the third drawer down and a crease in the front of the second drawer from the top. The mirror has some small issues. This piece was purchased by my mother as a place to keep her many crochet projects and to store her completed afghans. It served her well over the years. All her things are being sold off.
