The cabinet doors open up and has two wood slides that come out to hold your items while getting dressed and while shaving. I have not seen a piece like this but I believe this is how it was made. It is in excellent condition with normal wear from use. The back of the chest is completly wood also. Numbered and marked in the drawer. The drawers have dividers in them which is nice and they are super clean. No nasty smells or signs of pet hair. It looks like a small burnt mark on the chest but I think it is part of the wood grain. It has four drawers and a molded top, canted corners with fluting, and straight bracket feet. It is 45" high by 43" wide by 21" deep. It does have some problems, please view all pictures carefully as we are selling this"as is" There is a chunk missing out of the second drawer and both sides/ends have splits. The top also has a split. It has an old refinish. The brasses are gorgeous and ARE 18th century, though may not original to this piece. There is evidence that there has been another type of hardware on the chest in the past. The back-plates on the brasses all match but three of the bails are different from the rest. Here we have a beautiful piece of Americana that has now sadly become obsolete from it's original purpose of housing card catalogs for libraries. It has 25 drawers and two slide out writing boards It would be very suitable for office or decorative purposes. It is a nice medium size cabinet that could be used in an entry way. As it has an attached writing pen. The bottom has an open bookcase for storage of additional books or manuals. If being used for decorative purposes, a basket or two would look nice in that open area. The cabinet appears to be hardly used. All of it's hardware is intact. Interior drawers are heavy duty molded plastic. The cabinet is solid wood and very heavy. There are some scuff marks at the bottom and dings along the top. ANTIQUE FANCY CARVED SOLID WOOD NEW IDEAL TREADLE SEWING MACHINE DRAWERS
These drawers are off of a vintage New Ideal Treadle Machine Table I bought for the cast iron parts. The fronts are beautifully decorated and the drawers seem to be in pretty good condition with the following flaws(please look at pictures as well for condition) One drawer frame is missing the key hole cover and the lock mechanism for it is loose resulting in the lower drawer getting stuck and having to use a key to open it. The drawer frames themselves are loose and nails are coming loose as well(could be fixed with larger nails or wood glue. I'm leaving that up to you) One of the rails for the drawers has a chip off of it in the front but still works and has not really affected the performance of the drawers. One of the back bottom edges of a drawer has broken off. And although not a flaw, one of the sides of the drawers where a cast ... moreiron table support went are 4 holes where the support used to be. MEASUREMENTS: front large drawer is 21.5 inches in length, rails go back 11 inches. Holding space in that drawer is 16.25" x 3.25" and 2" in depth with a divider in between. Extraordinary chest of drawers done by a young apprentice to demonstrate their furniture making skills. England circa 1880-1890 Perfectly proportioned with four hand dovetailed draw ers lined with lambs wool and a gorgeous wood veneered surface. Very nice cabinet that can be hung on the wall or displayed on a table. Nice original paint that has crackled with time. Nice dark and medium browns as you can see from the photos with mustard yellow undertones in certain lights. This unique and one of a kind piece was made not for sale but for for home. I'm guessing a husband made it for his wife. Possibly for sewing since there are nails that come through the back and could possibly be used for spindles of thread. I purchased this a while back at auction. It was from the estate of a collector of Canadian East Coast folk art and this was described as a Nova Scotia Folk Art Cabinet. I would assume it is around 80 to 100 years old based on the materials ... moreused. There are two open shelves. One over the nails and one over the two bottom drawers. The pulls may not be original as they are only screws with open loops at the end. The corners of the open shelf on top of the drawers has bevelled corners which is a nice detail. There is also the same paint on the bottom of the shelf which is why I think it would have been made for the wall. Please see the pictures. The dimensions are: 15 1/2" tall x 11 1/4" wide x 5" deep. Purchased this item at an estate sale so I don't know the origin of this piece. Measures 32" W x 19" D x 44 1/2" H(49" in back) I do know that the craftsmanship is phenomenal and the fit and finish is beautiful. The piece is in average condition with some scratches and wood chipped off in places. I'm guessing the extra compartment on top was a jewelry box. The wheels are made of wood suggesting it is very old indeed. The handcarved overlays are awesome. Two drawer handles are missing. When we recieved this cupboard 12 years ago it had at least 5 layers of white paint- we sanded most of it to leave a rustic heritage piece. Hand carved doors and drawers with original handles still attached. One of the handles has broken off. But we still have the handle if you wanted to fix it. Top of the cupboard has a split in the wood- we covered it with photos and a cane runner. One leg at the back is missing- but this has not taken away from its functionality. Up for auction is a medical tool storage case. It is made with leather and Red oak wood. The drawers are all made from Red oak. This is an AWESOME case. All drawers work nicely and are intact. When I purchased this case. It was stacked full of dental/ Oral surgeon instruments. I have sold the extra stuff that was in it. I do have some extra dental drill burrs and finishing strips.I can send pictures of them if interested. The knobs/ handles are missing(can be replaced) There are some scratches from use over the years but overall they look really nice! BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WALNUT WRITING BOX– Circa. 1890 This is a beautiful Victorian writing slope dating back to the reign of Queen Victoria. The wood has a lovely grain and the slope is a fantastic size. Perfect for using as intended or out on display. The box is of fine quality has brass inlay and corners. The slope has a secret compartment on the inside which hides 3 small drawers. The box is generally in good condition but does have some age related wear as can be expected. This includes light surface marks on the exterior and some descrete loss to the veneer in places(in teh maid at the rear corners) The brass is in good order with only light tarnish- this will polish up if required. Internally the slope covering has split and one of the compartments is missing its lid. WOW! What a desk. This is a two piece secretary desk that has everything going on for it. The top section one has to take out all the drawers and cubby wholes when moving this particular item. When you take these out. Of the top section it is all that one can do to move the top off. With out the drawers the top is still very. Very heavy. This is 86" tall, 42" wide, 22 1/4" front to back, the doors in the top are 18 1/2" wide, and 30 1/2" tall. Please take notice in the top section there are two drawers ... morethat look like books. This is a secret hiding area. Two small drawers in the base are 16" wide, 18 1/2" front to back and 3 3/4" deep. Remaining three drawers are 37" wide, and 18 1/2" front to back, and 4 1/2" deep. As you can see the interior where the writing surface is all the drawers do come out so one can easily move the heavy base. This is a very well made item.
