1 Set Antique Vintage New Home Treadle Sewing Machine DRAWERS w/FRAME,drop pulls
For sale is a set of the Wooden Drawers with the holder from the left hand side of a New Home brand of Antique Treadle Sewing Machine. This holder mesures 18" from front to back. 5.5" across the widest part and is a total of 9.5 tall. Piece weighs 7 lbs. This set has lots of added details. There is the added metal across the front of the bottom of each drawer and the added carving on the outside left side of the drawers and the holder. I do not know the model number of this machine, but it is old enough that it has the long bullet style of thread holder. Drawers and holder are actually in very good condition, especially considering the machine is probably over 120 years old. I am not sure of the purchase price. The age, or the wood type. The stain is a chestnut color. The desk are two parts. The approximate dimensions of the lower secretary desk part are 36 inches tall, 34.5 inches wide, 19 inches deep. The approximate dimensions of the upper bookshelf part are 33 inches tall. 32 inches wide at the bottom(where it rest on the secretary desk) and 36.5 inches tall(from the top moulding trim) 11.5 inches deep. The drawers have dovetail construction and all four drawers open and close fully. The handles. Hinges, and hardware appear to be brass(not positive of the material) One of the eight handles came out of the hinge socket. I have the handle ... moreloose so it can be reattached and repaired. The bookshelf unit has a glass front. The glass is in good shape with some sticker residue which needs to be cleaned. The very top of the bookshelf has a circular mark which appears to be where the previous owner(s) kept a plant. On the fold down writing desk there is a small chip in the wood on the left hand corner. There are four holes on top of the secretary desk where the bookcase is attached also there are scratches and wear from the bookcase rests(these are not visible when the desk is attached) The back has rough unfinished wood showing. Fine English Chippendale Mahogany Kneehole Desk c. 1740-60 Originality preserved throughout in the hardware and feet- Only the desk is being offered in this listing. The chair shown is offered elsewhere in our collection Item# 110105PII25 This is a remarkably preserved English Chippendale Period Kneehole Desk. Circa 1740-50. It is crafted of well figured solid single boards of Mahogany on the top and sides- there is no veneer on this desk, just solid boards of full grain mahogany. A simply molded edge runs the perimeter of the top, each corner scalloped. Each drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, with thin oak frame construction and thin oak drawer bottoms- all drawers are fully original and lack any adjustments and restorations to the secondary construction. Glowing hand forged brass hardware ... moreadorns each drawer. Appearing to have never been removed from the piece. Inside each drawer, as well as the tiny door in the kneehole area, silver metal locks are secured and functional. Each lock appears to be original, each uniquely cut on the right hand corner for all small drawers- it would appear the craftsman was presented with the challenge of making the lock of his choice fit the small space in conjunction with the pull hardware, and overcame this but cutting the corners of each lock. Hand made screws are visible throughout the lock hardware. While we cannot say for certain if the key is original, it is of the period, hand made and very similar in metal color to that of the locks. Each drawer is lip-molded and slides flawlessly in and out of the desk. Just below the top drawer is a secret drawer compartment. Appearing to be part of the frame design, but actually pulls outward smoothly as an extra hand dovetailed drawer. This is a unique addition for the craftsman to make, as many of these knee hole desks are without such innovations. The wide top drawer pulls out to reveal a full dust shelf. Antique 16" Empire Miniature Chest of Drawers Empire Dresser with 7 Drawers
Offered for sale is a miniature child's toy sized empire dresser. This piece was most likely made in the early part of the 1900s. The drawer bottoms appear to be stained. They are not oxidized. The inside of each drawer is also painted, so it is hard to tell the exact age, since there is no raw exposed wood. Though, the finish on the outside has been on long enough, say 75 years to have crackled. The only way for this to happen is over time, so, we can date this piece to at least 75 years. Large high back splat. With a deck of two drawers on the top. The large top drawer underneath that has two drawers as well and then three long drawers on the bottom of the piece. The style of this is Empire. And has all the elements one would associate with that design, the overhanging large top drawer and the curved elements running down to the front ... morefeet. In as found condition. The edges have bumps and chips, and this needs a good going over with a dark polish to hide the exposed wood under the original finish. An antique or vintage machinist or specialty wooden case with 5 d rawers in original finish with Ea gle Lock Co lock. The case. 14 1/2" wide by 12 1/2" high and 12" deep, is in nice, original, mahogany-color finish.I'm not sure of t he wood but I would guess birch veneer. it is in excellent condition with two small veneer repairs on the bottom corners and a tape mark on the top running down about 2" And weighs just over 13 lbs. It is dovetailed on the outside with nickel plated corner mounts. A drop front that can slide back into the bottom with 5 interior drawers(2 large and 3 smaller) measuring 1 1/2" and 1 3/4" deep.there is an open space on the left of the case that may have had a small microscope or instrument. I haven't done a lot of research on the case and I'm sure that there is someone out ... morethere that would venture an opinion. The handle has some leather missing with metal exposed and I toyed with the idea of taking the leather completely off but will leave it to the buyer. The corner mounts all have good plating with the exception of the upper right that has part of the plating deteriorated. There is a round. Nickel plated handle on the side that recedes back into the receiver.don't know the use for it. I don't have the key and you can assume that I won't be able to find it, although I will be looking.the number on the lock is A9W09, The Eagle Lock Co Terryville, Conn.
