Vintage Carved Wood Figure "Pot Belly Man" German ? Black Forest
Offered for eBay is a vintage wood carved figure of an older pot belly man standing with his hands in his pockets. There are no marks as to maker or artist. I do not know exact age. But it is not new or recently made. The figure stands 8.25" high including base. Base measures approx. 2" X 3" There is one area on the man's right side under his hand that appears to be a natural crack/separation in the wood, along the carved lines(please see included photo of area) I can see no damage other than dust in the crevices. The wood is lighter in color than some of these figures that I have seen. All items are from a clean non smoking home. But. We do have a dog. T hose with allergies should be aware. Items are not new. This is a very nice black forest carved clock.Its in working condition as the man whistles and moves his head, the clock works, pendulum swings as it should, but will need adjustment to keep the right time, move the pendulum up or down) it looks as if the back has been replaced, i don,t think its the original back. the windup key for the whistler and the clock key are not original, i picked up both keys from a black forest clock store.other than that everything else appears to be original. i don,t know how old it is, it belonged to my son who passed away in 2000 and i know he had it for many years. its been well taken cared of and remains in very good condition.

All the animations include 2 figures sawing a log. One figure using an axe to chop wood, a water wheel that spins, a music box and of course the traditional cuckoo bird. The weights and pendulum are included. The clock is in great physical condition as well as working condition. NICE ANTIQUE WORKING GERMAN BLACK FOREST CARVED WOOD HUNTER CUCKOO CLOCK ca 1935

This is a wonderful find of an old. Hand carved, working, wood cuckoo clock that was created in the Black Forest of"Germany" about 70 years ago. The clock is carved from cured and aged Linden wood which has been the preferred wood of carvers in the Black Forest since the 1870's. The case is a blended mix of color, walnut tones, and mahogany too; just stunning! It is adorned with four hand carved oak leaves and another carved oak leaf is found on the wooden pendulum. The carvings are exceptional, deep, intricate, and wavy, and the finish is gorgeous! There is a carved wooden rabbit mounted to the left of the dial and an equally impressive ... morecarved wooden game bird to the right side. The case has a carved wooden game bag at the very bottom and the top is equally magnificent featuring a large carved wooden deer head complete with antlers and two wooden criss-crossed shotguns mounted underneath. I don't think the antlers are made of wood but they sure look real. The dial is made of wood too and has a black backdrop featuring raised white Roman numerals to mark the hours and fancy matching hands to point out the time. There is a hinged wooden door on the right side of the case that opens to allow access to the front of the movement in case any adjustments need to be made. The clock has a fitted wood back and latches securely. It easily removes to allow access to the old rack style, weight driven mechanical movement inside the case produced by"G Mangem, the early name for what are now, Regula movements. A weight driven movement simply means that the chains need to be pulled occasionally to wind the clock and cuckoo activity. The clock is made entirely of wood and has a beautifully-detailed graphic on the front.has to be young love since he's carrying her books and she holds his heart; charming! The dial is wood as well ... morewith a natural wood backdrop featuring large, easy to read, brown arabic numerals to mark the hours and fancy black matching hands to point out the time. The back has a wooden cover over the movement and a sliding wood door to access the mechanical, weight driven movement marked, West Germany. A weight driven movement simply means the chain needs to be pulled occasionally to wind the clock. I've looked the clock over fairly well and can't find any issues. It is as nice today as it was the day it left the clock factory! The clock works perfectly here and keeps good time too though it is an old clock and we don't know the service history. I did find a penciled in service date of 2-11-13 on the inside of the wooden door. Nonetheless, some adjustments or service may be necessary once the clock arrives at its new home.but I doubt it. It's been working all week in my office and hasn't missed a beat! Have it serviced once every three years or so and keep it that way. It is a most impressive and the perfect size too measuring about 8” high(not counting the weight or pendulum) about 2" at its deepest point, and about 4 3/4” at its widest point. The clock comes

It works! There are a few small nibbles on the carved tips which are almost unnoticeable. However. I should point out there is damage to the"lips" of the slider on one side. The lips are half missing and the other half is almost detached. This cannot be seen either when shut or extended and it still operates. Hand Carved Wood Rearing Horse - Black Forest Heinzeller
This is a fine figure of a horse- Literally. It measures 6" in height and 5" in length and shows a horse rearing up on it's hind legs. It is Rough carved out of wood and was made by W. u. M. Heinzeller in Oberammergau Germany. It is in excellent condition. But there are several areas on the body that stick out more than others and show rubbing on the finish. A little oil(or a Walnut) should fix this since there is no wood damage.

Antique Black Forest Carved Wood Sculpture German Oak Leaf Berry Dish bowl NR!
This is a really great old German carving. I'm not sure when it was brought back. But it was given as a gift to an uncle in 1963. written on back. It has beautiful detail, leaves, branches and berries. I have no idea who the artist is, there's no signature or any marks. It's a nice size, 12 inches X 8 inches oval and sits approx. 1 inch deep. all carved from one piece of wood! Feel free to email any questions or request additional photos. GOOD LUCK!

BLACK FOREST WOOD CARVING WAR OF 1859 TRENCH ART EDELWEISS FLOWER FRENCH SOLDIER
For sale is an antique Black Forest Wood Carving. From around 1859 to the early 1960's. The carving is of 2 men hugging or dancing. And obviously drinking.One has a stein. What makes this a very rare is the man on the right. Has military clothing. He is wearing A French Zouave. Hat and leather chap's or Gaiter's. These were uniform. Parts worn during the Franco Austrian War of 1859. Zuave's were French soldier's sent to Austria. After the war the Zouave Soldier's were stationed at Versallies. They are standing over an Edelweiss flower. Austria's national flower.This makes me think that it's a carving. Representing a Peace Treaty Celebration. You can see a spot of white where the flowers were painted. The entire West side of the Black Forest Region is the. French boarder. Some extra homework told me the leather ... morechap's. Or gaiters were only made of leather in the early years. This could be seen as Trench Art or a celebration of. Armistice or treaty. I do not know if it was mounted to. Some thing.It is a flat back with no mounting holes or screws. I know this is lot of information but it dates this carving. To circa 1859.And the subject is a Zouave Soldier. Has a crack at the bottom center through the chap. To the center. It is not on top or above the arms. A chip on the swirl on the left bottom. There are no makers marks. Any carving marked. Is not a true vintage Black Forest piece.

Antique Black Forest(?) Hand Carved Wood Inkwell in form of Pug or Bulldog
Possibly English or German. Can't be sure, mid to late 19th century. Condition is excellent with minor loss of the dogs collar. Hinges are tight, original inkwell still inside. The grimmacing face with teeth showing seem to be exceptionally rare. Dimensions: 3 1/2" tall, 2 1/2" wide.
