RARE AND UNUSUAL BLACK FOREST 8 DAY WALL CLOCK
RARE AND UNUSUAL BLACK FOREST 8 DAY WALL CLOCK RARE AND UNUSUAL BLACK FOREST 8 DAY WALL CLOCK I do not know how rare this item is but I know I have never owned one before. It certainly is unusual because it combines a Black Forest movement with a fusee style case. From the construction it is obvious that this movement. Dial and case are all original to each other. I guarantee that this clock is correct just as you see it and is not made up or assembled from odd parts. There are no markings anywhere to indicate that any other movement or dial was associated with this case. The case is constructed with burl walnut veneers. Carved walnut side pieces and brass inlay along with a cast brass bezel. The pendulum window is also framed with heavy brass trim. There is one piece of brass string inlay missing from the dial surround and three pieces missing ... moreon the rest of the case. In two spots on the case frame it is stamped“IIII” and there is a pencil notation“Oct. 1888” along with what appear to be two initials. I believe the small access door on the left side is a replacement. You would expect to find a fusee movement in this case but rather it has a Black Forest movement with brass gears and wooden plates. This is a well-made movement with mainspring barrels and heavy gearing. It is of eight day duration with an hourly strike on a bell which is mounted to the top of the case. Both mainsprings are intact. The strike train starts and stops correctly but it is very sluggish. The time train does tick with some finger pressure on the train but it certainly will need cleaning before it will be in running order. The dial has the original paint and is in very good condition with almost no paint loss. The diameter to the edge of the time track is 9 inches. The clock comes with the original hands and brass pendulum. This clock is 24 inches tall and 13 inches wide. We have a large number of vintage and antique clocks currently listed along with a fascinating variety of music boxes and other very nice vintage/antique collectibles. Be sure to have a look at our other items! This is a beautifully designed. Very lightly used, working, animated wall clock that was produced in the Black Forest of“Germany” about 35 years ago by“Josef Engstler, one of the finest clock producers in this region of the world! The Engstler Family has been creating some of the best animated clocks at the same location in Villingen Germany since 1897. The clock case is made entirely of wood and is lavished in front with two large colorful Edelweiss. Red flowers, and a white and blue one too! There is a wooden balcony in front above the dial and a large wooden platform just under the dial featuring a colorful faux Fir Tree on the ... moreleft side with colorful accents. A charming Bavarian boy holding balloons right next to it, and a St Bernard Dog complete with keg to the far right side with more colorful accents; very nice! There is a colorful Bavarian woman figurine sitting in a swing at the end of a coiled spring attached to the movement inside the clock. She is the actual pendulum for the clock and bounces up and down as time ticks away; fascinating! The dial is wooden too and features easy to read. White Arabic numerals to mark each hour and fancy matching hands to point out the time. The clock is fitted with a key wind. Mechanical movement that winds through an arbor hole on the dial; lasts for about two days on a single wind. The back is fitted with a wooden door that easily slides open to allow access to the clock movement. The clock works just fine here and keeps good time too. It's an old clock and as such we recommend that it be serviced at least every three years to keep it running strong for years to come. It’s an impressive clock. Antique/primitive black forest type wall clock
Unusual beautiful antique wall clock.A wooden box with a glass front which can open. All parts are working. Includes the weights. Chains and pendulum. Face is a type of metal(tin? painted, as are the raised figures. Human figure is holding some herbs/leaves and is reclining on what appears to be a large dog but could be a lion. A long snake is coming toward him. Woodsy scene. Painted dark green with golden highlighted figures. Mechanism in back of clock within a box contains a spring, strikers and cogs. May be of European origin: Austria, Germany or Switzerland? There are no markings. Family owned and handed down to me. Needs to be hung high on a wall. As is, has not been cleaned. This listing is for a 30 hour musical clock. Yes it looks like a regular cuckoo clock but it is not and never was. It DOES NOT CUCKOO. It will play two tunes on the hour and the 1/2 hour as the little dancers turn on the platform and that is all it does. Well…it does show you what time it is. This is the only one of these clocks I have ever seen and I have see a zillion clocks. It is quite old. You can see it has a count wheel movement. Inspection doors and the very old style hooks to hold the top. The back door is solid wood. I do not see any plywood in the clock. My best guess is that the clock is late 1800s. I have just cleaned it by ultrasonic, oiled(with the best synthetic oil) and adjusted the clock. The clock runs great and sounds very good. The clock is a good size at 19 and 1/2 inches high, 13 inches wide and 7 inches deep. This enchanting gothic style clock made by Johann Baptiste Beha. Has a twin fusee, 8-day movement in beech-wood plates it chimes& cuckoos the requisite number of times on the hour and once on the half, comes with its original key and features the original matching wall bracket; and it is extraordinarily rare indeed to see a matched set both clock and bracket making this an exceptional example. Beha was the first to make Black Forest wall and shelf cuckoo clocks with spring-wound movements. And between 1845 and 1850 the first 8-day cuckoos with fusee movements were built, this almost certainly is one of these early clocks and consequently one for the collectors. Antique Black Forest Wood Wall Alarm Clock Ready for Restoration
You are bidding on a genuine antique Black Forest Alarm wall clock. This clock is in original condition but is not assembled and needs to be restored. It appears to be complete. Except for the glass crystal. It has a nice, turned wooden bezel made up of four sections. The dial is painted on wood and is in very good condition. It has nicely painted Roman Numerals. The beautifully patterned hands are steel. The back of the clock has the original importer/retailer label on it giving set up instructions for the'alarum' It also gives instructions for hanging the clock, to quote: Drive a 3 inch iron nail 2 inches into the wall, and hang the Clock on it" The label does not give the name of the importer, but I believe it is F. Booker& Co. London Clockmaker. It is nice to see on the wood all of the original hand scribed assembly and ... moredrilling lines that were done by the person making the clock. The chains are original, as are the two 7 inch cast iron weights and the cast brass bell. The 14 1/2" long pendulum is brass with a bob on one end. The wooden bezel outside diameter is approximately 11" This one is a restorers dream- it is so original and complete!

This is a wonderful Antique Black Forest Cuckoo Clock by Hupert Herr with all the original pipes and bellows. And all natural Bone Or Ivory hands and numerals. It has been in my family for decades and was packed away. I have just put it up for the photos and there is one antler that is missing it's very tip, otherwise no breaks, and the top stag will need to be re-adjusted as it is loose. The carving on this piece is great and it is one of the earliest ones, marked Germany on the back. Approximately 16+ inches from top to bottom and 9 1/2 inches wide at the top. ANTIQUE CARVED LARGE CUCKOO CLOCK! Nice estate collection find.large Black Forest cuckoo clock with a rooster or pheasant at the top of the eave.the bird carving is beautiful.it does have a glass eye. We also have two quail at the mid-section and there is a nest with a small bird at the base as well as the traditional leaves and branches throughout. Overall case measures in at about 29" tall with the eave in place.we do have old damages with repairs here and there throughout. At the eave. We have attachment issues.one eye is in place for attachment to the roof eave clasp.one is missing. There are two small prongs, one on either side, that can be used to assist with the eave attachment currently.it does hold, but is fragile and an additional eye should be added for stability and safety. We also see that there has been repair to the top ... morepiece, most particularly at the center branches. For the main case, we note hands are more than likely hand made replacements, and that there is a crack with an old repair at the center base below the dial, as well as a glue residue at the base of the small bird in the nest. There also seems to be a possibility that there was another bird, or perhaps a small egg, in the nest at one time evidenced by a small hole that would have accepted a peg next to the bird. Balance of the case is in good vintage condition with expected age and storage wear.minor dust and dander from storage. The cuckoo bird is in fine condition, as is the door.opens and closes properly. We did not test working order as it is too long to hang for our walls.all appears to be complete. Weight chains appear to be newer. Pendulum shows some loss with an old repair to the leaf at one side. Weights are in fine condition. People would travel(even then) to the birthplace of the cuckoo clock with full intentions of getting one to take home. You'd find a clock in one of the quaint shops, and ask the price. Once they revived you from fainting, they would show you something less expensive.such as this clock. It's hand carved, made from cured and aged Linden wood, and was produced by craftsmen in the Black Forest. You purchased this clock and ... moretook it home since it was inconceivable to not take a clock home! This is a gorgeous hand carved clock lavished with four grape leaves on the front, a fancy, scalloped top, and a carved wooden bird too looking as though he's ready to take flight. The dial has a black backdrop and features easy to read, white arabic numerals to mark the hours and fancy matching hands to point out the time. The back is wooden too and slides open to allow access to the weight driven mechanical movement inside the case. The movement is not marked as to origin or manufacturer but the dial does say, Made in Germany" near the bottom. A weight driven movement simply means that the chain needs to be pulled occasionally to wind the clock. The clock works quite well here, keeps good time, and appears to have been serviced recently. We don't know the service history of this old clock but it's been working quite well here for more than a day. Nonetheless, some adjustments or service may be necessary once the clock arrives at its new home. Black Forest 8-DAY Cuckoo Clock in beautiful condition. This clock runs very well and has a bird. Which pops out of his door every half-hour; he cuckoos once on the half-hour and counts the hours on the hour. Prior to his familiar“cuckoo” song, the clock chimes on a gong. When the cuckoo sings, the bird bobs up and down, then goes back in and slams the door! Also you can see the leaf pendulum swing with each passing second. This clock is unique with its carved shingle roof and hand painted original case. The weights are giant– making this cuckoo clock run 8 full days! The case.
