VTG ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE WOODEN BOWL MUNISING Dough BIRDS EYE BURLED MAPLE WOOD 10"
This is a wonderful antique primitive Munising wooden dough/ salad/ fruit bowl. It was hand turned on a lathe and crafted from birds eye burled maple wood. It is slightly out of round measuring about 10" x 9 1/4" x on one side 1 7/8" high and on the other going up to 2 1/4" high. It is in very good vintage condition with a nice patina. On the bottom there three black scorch marks where it looks like someone might have set it down on a hot burner. It is not deep and the signed name on the bottom- Munising- is still clearly visible. It is a really nice decorative bowl what would go well with any collection. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Munising bowls hail from their namesake town. Nestled on the South Bay of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Workers at Munising Woodenware Company, in business from 1908 to ... more1955, machine-lathed each vessel out of hardwood, usually maple, from the forests nearby. The factory produced other household items, such as butter molds, spoons and breadboards. The goods were sold at department stores, where many found their way onto wedding registries. During World War II, the factory fashioned 50 million tent stakes for the Army and the Marines. Of the many items the company made, the bowls were among the few types of pieces branded with its name. Antique / Vintage Wooden Dough Bowl - 12" Wide and Handsome - Maple or Myrtle?
This old bowl is large and bold. It is likely a dough bowl from the thiries or forties but could be a later designer piece. It is 12" wide at the top and just over 3 1/2" tall. It looks like maple to be but could be an ecentric like myrtle. It is unsigned and will be a great addition to any collection. It is in great condition from a MN estate(see pics) Please note that I will make every attempt to provide accurate description of the items I sell. They are mostly from estates and abandoned buildings that I have purchased or picked. This is a vintage 9" antique or primitive wooden farm bowl used for chopping. Dough, or butter. This bowl has a great patina that makes it very smooth to the touch. There are no cracks or chips anywhere on the bowl. No evident markings. It looks like there used to be some kind of mark on the bottom, I can not make out what it says. I don't know the exact age or maker, but you can see the age on it from the many, many, many yrs of use. I have used this as a display only piece in my primitive rustic home for a few years now. Antique 13" Hand Turned Wooden Dough/Bread Bowl / Out of Round / Grooved- Farm
This antique hand turned wooden dough bowl has seen some use in its time. It's slightly out of round(12 inches across in diameter on one side and 13 inches across measured the other way) And measures 3.5 inches tall. It is natural color(no stain) and unmarked. There are grooves inside and outside the bowl(please see the picture up-close) giving this bowl a unique texture and it has a quarter inch rim. It has a few issues that are fairly typical for these bowls. There are two cracks(one is more significant the other) They are both at the rim going down. The smaller one is a hairline, barely noticeable. The other one is pictured. It goes about halfway down the bowl. There is some pitting in the bottom of the bowl and there are some stains that shade the wood darker in some areas. see photos) Nothing that detracts from the bowl. Antique Wooden Dough Bowl This wonderful primitive wooden bowl has beautiful wood grain and is nicely made with a decorative 1" band around the rim. It appears to be round in shape when you first glance at it but is actually slightly oval in shape measuring 14.5" across by 13.5" by about 4" tall. The top rim is about 1/2 of an inch thick. Overall it is in great condition especially when considering the age. View a tiny worm hole on pic 7& 8 that actually adds a little character. There is a crack in the wood that is staying intact that you can view in the last few pics. A fabulous bowl purchased from an older estate. I am showing many pictures to help describe it best. Antique 19th Century Victorian Hand-Turned Treen Wooden Bread Dough Mixing Bowl
This is an original nineteenth century Victorian bread mixing bowl. In wood, lathe-turned by hand. It was clearly meant to be round but is anything but. Being decidedly ovoid, almost egg-shaped. It measures 9 7/8" one way by 10 1/2" the other. And is between 3 3/8" and 3 7/8" high, depending where one measures it! What appear at first glance to be scrapes on opposite sides of the outside of the bowl are more likely the result of the turner using a block of wood that was fractionally too small for the bowl he made. And hence there was insufficent thickness of material for him to be able to turn it all the way to the rim. Notwithstanding any of that. It is a delightful bowl with signs of honest use that include some stains and minor wear. It will ship by Fedex within the 48 states. Fully-insured and with tracking number

This is a little primitive wooden dough bowl that is very small and may have been made for the little girl of the house. This slightly oval bowl measures 5 3/4" x 5 1/2" and is 1 1/2" deep.it is small but looks exactly like all of my other wood dough bowls that I have collected. This has an old thick paint. Stain? or heavy coating on the outside like you see with the red and turquoise ones but it is a dark brown. Could be a walnut stain of some sort. The inside has wearing to this brown stain from use. Antique Vintage Signed Marked Munising Wood Wooden Dough Bowl with Spoon Paddle
This listing is for an antique or vintage Munising wood bowl with paddle/spoon. This bowl is slightly out of round. Not sure if it was intentionally made that way or if this is from age and use. Either way. It's stated and photographed for your consideration. That being said there are a few measurements to consider. At the shortest diameter distance the bowl measures 10 1/4" in diameter. At the longest diameter distance the bowl measures 11" in diameter. Again. This is from being slightly out of round. The bowl has some heavy scratching from use. Mostly located at the center interior. You can see this in the photos. I know that some people like to sand these out and return them to their original smooth surface. That's being left up to the winning bidder to determine and address. Some rough edges around the diameter of the ... morelip. The bottom and exterior is very clean with almost no scratching. Please note that the bowl has a silky feel to it from being seasoned and treated with food grade oil. The spoon or paddle measures 9 1/4" in length X 5" wide at the widest point. It too has wear and scratching from use with some minor surface splitting near the end. Nothing that goes through though. For sale is this classic Munising wooden dough bowl. Measures 11 1/2 inches long by 10 1/2 inches wide by 3 inches deep. I'm not sure what wood this is but I've seen a lot of similar bowls as this one listed as maple? That is a guess. I am not an expert. This is a hand turned bowl and is not perfect in it's shape which is what makes this bowl so interesting. There are scratches and marks from use. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE OBLONG WOODEN TRENCHER DOUGH BOWL TREEN MEDIUM BROWN PATINA WITH HANDLES! Up for sale is this wonderful. Old, medium brown antique primitive hand-made wooden trencher or dough bowl. The trencher was imported from Eastern Europe. It is oblong in shape and has rectangular square handles on each end to carry it by. This trencher was hand carved and you can see the different marks throughout the bowl. There are some slight cracks and a couple of areas where wood is missing(inside the bowl) please see photos for accurate description. Scratch marks, dings and edge wear, variations in color, exactly what you want to see from a true antique! It measures 28 3/4" long x 17.5" wide x 7.25 and 7.5 on one side- 8" and 8.25" deep on the other side. There is a slight lean and this is common for these bowls. Great size ... moreand shape! It weighs 8.5 lbs. A great size that will fit almost anywhere! Great conversation piece and center piece- Lots of uses! There are only a few worm holes in this bowl as you can see in the pictures. This is not normal as these old bowls typically have hundreds of worm holes. It has old world charm including many evidences of being hand carved from one single piece of wood. There's some nicks. Pieces of wood missing, scrapes, dings, chips, cracks, nicks, wood missing, and worm holes, as you can see in the pictures. This wasn't a decoration but rather a working trencher! It has many character scratches to the interior and spotting or differences in color from age and use. Look at the color, WOW! We have tried to show all of this in the photos. Up for bid is a large primitive wooden bowl. It is out of round. So it is approximately 12.25- 13.25 inches wide, and approximately 3.5- 4 inches tall. I used it to display ornaments. But I'm not sure what any previous owners may have used it for. It is a very nice bowl to display whatever you collect. In good condition with a few cracks as pictured. The first crack on the upper side goes through so that you could see some light thru it but the crack does NOT go from side to side The other cracks are tight. Marked on bottom Munising 2nd. 15-1/2 to 14-1/2 across x 5" tall.

Primitive wood wooden Antique bowl sm size vintage turned pedestal base DOUGH PA
Unusual small size primitive wood bowl with pedestal base/rim. Probably used for butter or jam on the table. It is worn. And has some burn marks(probably got too close to the old pot belly wood stove)It measures 5 inches across, and 2 inches tall. I used wood wax on it to clean it, because it was filthy. There is a maker mark on the bottom, but I can not make it out. I can kind of see the outline of a bird, if I hold it to the light. This is one of the bowls that I got from an elderly primitive collector that is downsizing. She explained that it was carved from a"Burr" or knot/ bump that was on the side of the tree. I believe she is correct, for you can see the wood grain inside the bowl very plainly. UP FOR AUCTION IS THIS NICE ANTIQUE WOODEN HAND TURNED BOWL FROM THE THE 1850s TO THE CIVIL WAR ERA. IT IS IN VERY NICE CONDITION FOR ITS AGE AND HAS NICE GRAIN WITH THE TURNING MARKS AS SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS. IT IS 15 3/8" IN DIAMETER BY 5 1/4" TALL. IT HAS A FAIRLY EVEN RIM WHICH VARIES SLIGHTLY IN WIDTH. IT HAS A 10" THIN CRACK IN THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE BOWL THE BOWL IS STILL VERY SOLID WITH NO WEAK SPOTS OR ROT. THERE ARE NO OTHER CRACKS. THE RIM IS SLIGHTLY WARPED DUE TO AGE. WHEN THE BOWL IS TURNED UPSIDE DOWN ON A FLAT SURFACE IT DOES NOT QUITE LAY FLAT IN 2 AREAS. THERE IS A SHALLOW AREA ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOWL WHICH IS ABOUT 2" WIDE BY 4" WIDE. THIS APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY NOT STARTING WITH A BIG ENOUGH CHUNK OF MAPLE TO TURN OUT THIS BOWL WHEN IT WAS MADE SO LONG AGO. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE GATHERING OF WOODEN MUNISING BUTTER DOUGH BOWL & BUTTER PADDLE
This auction is for an early Munising wooden butter-dough bowl. It is me oval shaped than round. From one side to the other it measures 9 1/4" and the other side to side measurement is 8 1/2" It is 2" high/deep. Lots and lots of chopping/cut marks in the center and they give it a wonderful look. You can tell that this bowl was well used and loved. It has a gorgeous patina and is marked on the bottom MUNISING. Next is a hand carved butter paddle that is also well used with a fantastic and unique patina. It measures 9 1/4" x 4" Both primitive items are extremely smooth and have a beautiful feel in your hands. They are dry and not sticky& have no smells.
