The tabletop when opened reveals an adjustable green leather and gold-tool writing slope. Along the sides of the interior are boxwood pigeonholes and other boxwood sections to store letters and documents along with sewing kits. Below the writing slope is another compartmentalized hand dovetailed boxwood drawers to store additional sewing materials. The lid features the original working lock and key. Beneath the sewing table drawer there is a pull out sewing box drawer constructed with boxwood and is in original condition. The front and the back of the box are also inlaid with floral satinwood. The table stands on solid turned walnut supports terminating in splayed legs with the original mug castors. A turned stretcher connects bots sets of legs for extra stability. This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout. It is rare to see one in such good condition. This item would certainly grace any home. Location: DARTFORD, United Kingdom This is a beautiful example of a late Victorian traveling stationary box with an integral writing slop made from a wooden carcass and covered in top quality ... moreblack leather. Produced by the London maker Parkins& Gotto of Oxford Street the key which is original presses in releasing the hinged lid. The side panel drops down revealing a number of stationary slots and three small draws probably for stamps. The lid section doubles as a writing slope and has a small clasp which when opened reveals another storage area. As the door opens a spring loaded inkwell and pen holder slides out of the box as shown in the photographs. The makers mark is shown embossed in gold on the inside writing slope. There is a brass recessed handle to the top for carrying this wonderful box. To the outside there is wear associated with age but no major damages, there is also a storage or traveling label probably of the original owner. It belonged to my mother who inherited it from a Scottish Aunt I don't think the name on the box was hers39;s. A wonderful example that would look wonderful in any home or made a great addition to any collection. Antique Victorian Walnut Settee 1870's Era
This is a Victorian Settee 1870's Era in Fine Condition. Professionally restored. A beautiful piece of furniture made of solid walnut with original glass castors and horsehair padding. In the restoration, the wood was steamed apart and original dowels retained. The animal hide glue used then. Was replaced with modern glue. It is covered and tuffed in a lovely soft pattern of green. It measures 60 3/4" wide. The seat is 18" deep. And is 18" high from the floor. The height from the floor to the top of the carved ball is 40 1/2" It displays well. And would accent any living room or parlor. I have personally owned this piece for over 25 years.

American Chippendale Walnut Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. Probably Philadelphia or the Delaware River Valley, c. 1770-80 Item# 130108OSP25 This is an excellent example from the Philadelphia or Delaware River Valley region of Pennsylvania. A fine American Chippendale Walnut Chest of Drawers c. the third quarter of the 18th Century 1770-80. Of quite desirable proportions, the chest has a refined presence with well preserved color in the walnut case. The quality of the chest is self evident, the top with a sandwiched molding wrapping around the rim, projecting slightly over the front and deeply over the back- this allowed the chest to rest flush with the wall despite the thick floor molding. Each of the graduated drawers has a molded lip of the solid. The faces solid walnut, the sides and bottom crafted of poplar: these are hand dovetailed, ... morethe bottoms deeply chamfered and slid into rabbets in the sides; the riven bottom boards run perpendicular to the face, nailed at the back with(mostly) original wrought iron rosehead nails with white pine blocks fitted in the chamfered edges along the sides. Original steel locks are retained in the drawers, locks now absent, the brasses replaced with period batwings- the chest had Federal oval brasses placed on it at one point, that owner drilling new holes very close to the original holes; the current brasses are in those same later holes. The back of the chest is joined with two original hand planed planks nailed around the perimeter. The top and bottom join to the chest with hidden dovetails. Evident in the score marks on the inside of the case. The feet are preserved in almost entirely original condition other than age appropriate repairs(noted below) the form of these ogee bracket feet is above reproach, a fine scroll cut swirl that has robust flare to it and terminates in a bladed edge. Antique Georgian Figured Walnut Chest of Drawers(Click to Enlarge) This antique chest of drawers featured a lovely figured veneer believed to be walnut. Measures 44" high by 44.5" wide by 20.5" deep. Round figured knobs appear to be original. Drawers have hand-cut lap dovetails and cockbeading of the type brought into use starting in the 1770s. Overall condition is excellent. There is a chip approximately 1" long from the veneer along the front right edge. Which no doubt can be easily repaired by a professional. Overall condition of the veneer is excellent, but there is some buckling on the left side of the piece, consistent with its age. Bottom features bracketed feet and an elegant shaped skirt on front and sides. A wonderful antique hand carved walnut Swiss mountain chair finely inlaid with designs of mountain goats. A stag, and edelweiss(an alpine flower) There is an edelweiss theme throughout, with both carvings and inlay work. The inlay work is superb, with great detail and even shading! The artist used such expertise and care, that the animals have a very lively and charming look. It was hand made, probably in the 1800's with a tongue and groove construction, and may have a signature on the bottom. It is in wonderful condition for it's age, but not perfect. The main flaws you notice are the wear on the seat which has resulted in some damage to the inlay.Please consult the pictures for questions of condition. French Antique Armoire in Burled Walnut. Measures 7 feet wide. 6 1/2 feet tall, 2 feet deep. Has 3 doors with the center door being a mirrored door. Inside there are closet rods, some shelves, and one drawer. Hand carved detailing and exceptional burled wood. Purchased from France so the burled walnut is a little different than what you'd normally see in the U.S. It's a gorgeous heirloom quality piece that we'd love to keep, but we are moving and unfortunately don't have the right space for it in our new place.
