Then upper cabinet with foliate carved panels and display shelf raised on baluster form supports over a three drawer, three door base cabinet similarly relief carved with fruit filled urns and foliate panels. This is a magnificent solid black walnut finger carved cabriole leg Civil War-era oversized sofa that dates from the 1860s-70s. It’s amazing ... morethat something like this has been around for 140 years. And has no breaks or bad joints on it. It’s just tight and in fantastic shape. You can see a slight lamination seam on the right-hand side where the wood joins together, but nothing has come apart. It has a green crushed velour that is in such nice condition that it either has been replaced, or this sofa may not have seen very much use. The wood is the original nice dark walnut stain, with cabriole carved front legs, big carved knuckles on the fronts of the upholstered arms, and even retains the original brass wheel casters. The fabric is all nice and clean, and could use a good shampooing but is very useable. The patina of the frame is gorgeous. The sofa is a lot larger than usually, and can hold about four adults. The width on the outside, from arm to arm, is 74 inches and on the inside is 65 inches. From the back to front on the seat it measures 23 inches, so the overall depth is about 27 inches. It is 39 inches high to the top of the center crest rail, and 23 inches high to the arm. It is 17 inches high to the seat. This is a nice, tight, extra-large sofa with a great, reasonable price. His son this seller took over the business and has worked on well over 100 organs since then in Morton, Illinois, Galesburg, Illinois and now located in Altona, Illinois. The great pieces, with the right proportions and quality carvings, were always hard to find. This piece is a gem. The three-part cabinet is profusely carved. Center section: Arched top crowned with cartouche and chimera climbing down the sides. Beneath the chimera are columns with lions with rings in their mouths. Beautiful 1885 Antique Revolving Black Walnut and Brass Bookcase w/ Book Rest This is a beautiful rare antique revolving library bookcase table that has a metal tag on the front top edge that reads; The CIN Cabinet Co. Cincinnati Patented May 5. 1885. This cabinet is made of black walnut with the center pole possibly being a different hardwood. The cabinet is removable from the center pole, which is topped by a bearing, allowing the cabinet to smoothly rotate a full 360 degrees, with no stop point. The center pole is mounted to the crossed X base and the legs have a reeded groove design and hardwood casters. Brass tubing forms the shelf ends. The top has a built-in flip up bookrest, which can be lowered for a flat top. There is shelf space on all 4 sides. I was told by the previous long-time owner this piece was originally in a Doctor's office in Archdale, North Carolina. It is the first of its kind I have seen in my many years of dealing in antiques. With the exception of one lock, all hardware is original and intact. The locks on the drawers were manufactured by Corbin. Antique 1940's Walnut Dining Room Table 3-12" Leave 6 Leg Ornate Dark 45x60
Up for auction is my dining room table. Very ornate with 6 turned legs connected near floor by carved arms. Carved trim on apron. Extra wide for fitting more seats when needed. Has 3 12" leaves(no aprons) finish is not matching. So need to use tablecloth with leaves. Table will open up even more, so if you had more leaves made, you could seat even more. Finish Is in pretty good shape, could use touchup refinish on top. Some cloud areas, one chip in veneer and one small area where finish is worn. Legs are in pretty good shape. Antique 19th C Walnut Frames w/ Original Signed Portrait Watercolor Paintings
We are listing today for your consideration a lovely pair of Antique 19th Century Deepset Walnut Wood and Gilt Frames with Original Signed Watercolor Painting Portraits of Man& Woman. We are assuming Husband& Wife. The frames and paintings are in Excellent Shape with minimal wear to the walnut frames. The frames measure 15" x 12 3/4" x 2 5/8" The have gold gilding as well as the original gilt edged mat and the paintings are below glass. The portraits are signed each D.J. Artist on the front in watercolor and on the back David Jones 71& David Jones 72 in pencil. We don't know anything about the artist, we did a search and came up with nothing. The painting of the man has a stamp on the paper in black Hovey's Rives. We could not find anything on that as well. Each portrait is on cut out paper which is pasted ... moreon heavier paper. The portraits are period as well as the frames so we are assuming that the 71 and 72 are for 1871 and 1872. LARGE ANTIQUE DEEP WALNUT FRAME WITH BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE ENGRAVING OF TWO WOMEN– name on lower center is“PRES DES CASCADES– NEAR THE FALLS. Walnut frame and engraving are both circa 1860– 1880’s. Probably original to the frame. Old wavy glass and old wood backing. Both probably original to the frame. Two women are seated near waterfalls– each is wearing a fancy Victorian dress. Bonnets, and one is holding a parasol. Maybe Niagara Falls? Antique print has some all-over age discoloration. More noticeable on the margins than on the print. The discoloration does not detract from the print because it is hardly noticeable. Framed in an early Victorian walnut frame with original Victorian gold tone liner- both in original condition– a few discolorations on the gold tone liner– especially on the lower edge– see my pictures. The outer corners of the ... moreframe are tight– no wiggle. No spaces. Frame has old glass and wood backing. The lower right edge of the print is marked: ANNEDOUCHE SCULP. The lower left edge is marked: BROCHARD PINX The lower center has the title of the print PRES DES CASCADES– NEAR THE FALLS. In small print below the engraving is IMPRIME PAR ALFRED JARDON JEUNE 3 RUE RACINE PARIS. At the very bottom is AM WASSERFALL. I have added photos of the writing but it is very light. Frame outside edges measured from the back are 26 ½ inches by 31 ¾ inches. Frame& contents weigh about 12- 13 pounds before any packing materials. These nightstands have gorgeous marble tops in shades of brick red, coral, salmon and peach tones. They have a carved back splash above the marble tops, with a drawer and cabinet below. Lots of storage there. Nice rich color with original finish and hardware. They are approx. 45 1/2" high(the top of the crest at the back) by 20" wide by 16" deep. Height from the floor to the marble top is 30 1/2" Guaranteed to be as described. Condition is very good with one exception. Part of the carved crest on one of the tables is missing.
