Antique Chinese Hand-Painted Export Pewter Tea Caddy
You are looking at an Antique Chinese Hand-Painted Export Pewter Tea Caddy. It was made in the early 19 th century. Containers like these were used to export tea from China. During the Qing dynasty. This caddy has two pewter metal compartments. With an exterior metal cover and an additional metal lid with a faux i\ ory handle. The top of the cover have designs on them. Which appear to resemble the god of longevity, and there are flower engravings along the top of the caddy. The case is wood. In good condition for its age. The only flaw is that the back of the top cover has a small chip. The graphics are unmarred. Painted in gold and black, still very detailed. It comes with key. I’m not sure if it’s the original, but it works. The box is around 8 inches wide. 5.5 inches deep, 5 ¼ inches in height, all measurements approximate. The condition ... moreis not perfect. But for its age, I’d consider it very well-preserved. It’s truly an antique piece. Not a reproduction. If you are an Asian collector art collector. You do not want to miss this one. Silver English Tea Caddy - Victorian - Coin Silver - Vintage Antique Sterling
Nice old English Tea Caddy. This came from an estate so I do not know its history. I know very little about silver so please bear with me as I describe it the best I can. Some spots and blemishes as pictured. I did not try to polish it. Inner liner is marked 22 and weighs about 16 ounces. Outer frame is marked 83 and the lid is marked 63 and together weigh about 34 ounces. The inner liner is non-magnetic so I think it is solid silver. The outer frame is somewhat magnetic as is the rim of the lid and the fineal so I think they are a silver mix. The dome portion of the lid is non-magnetic so I believe it is solid silver although it appears to be a continuous casting with the rim. The inner liner and dome part of the lid also have the buttery feel of sterling silver. I could find no other markings other than the numbers. My Internet research ... moretells me that means it is probably European Coin Silver but again I am no expert. No reserve auction. Thank you!

Antique porcelain Satsuma Japanese lidded ginger jar / tea caddy
I am not an expert on this item but will attempt to describe it to the best of my ability as follows. Antique hand made Japanese Satsuma porcelain ginger jar or tea caddy. Approximate measurements are 5 3/4" high with lid by 5" at widest part. It has a 7/8" hairline on the inside of the lid(not visible on the outside) and also two hairlines on the body of the jar. The raised. Baked in enamel colors are in perfect condition and beautifully hand painted. Gold trims and outlining are in very good condition for their age with only minor wear. There is no maker's mark present. Please see photos for the best description. This is a beautiful pot/caddy with a lovely sophisticated color palette that could be very useful for display purposes, for potpourri, or who knows perhaps even for tea or ginger. Happy bidding.

Antique 18thC China Japan Export Pottery Porcelain Tea Caddy Pot Box w/ Dolphin
This is an estate piece from the W.M.V.Hoffman estate. Formerly of Tuxedo Park and N.Y.C. The Hoffman family made their fortune in N.Y.C. real estate and trace their lineage back to Garit Storm(see my website for more) Their ancestors included Groverneur and Kemble, merchants in the China trade in the late 18th century. I believe that this piece was one of the items from the merchant trade. The piece is a ceramic/ pottery lidded urn. Box, tureen or tea caddy, approx. 4-1/8" tall without the lid and approx. 5-3/4" with the lid on to the top of the fish or dolphin fin. The urn is an elongated octagonal shape. The vase has sienna or light brownish stylized painting with black accents. The top piece has a fish or dolphin as a handle. Here is an antique silver plate tea caddy with copper overlay. The tea caddy is heavily embossed with three cherubs on the front and back sides. And pretty decoration of heart and torches on the sides. There is a hallmark of a windmill and pipes on the bottom. The measurements are 4 in. high x 2.5 in. wide and 1.5 in. front to back.

Item Description A nice unusual antique Japanese Wooden Lacquered Tea Caddy dating I believe from the early 1900's. The lid is decorated with a night scene of a child and an adult standing by a tree and looking out over the waters edge with either the sun setting or the moon rising on the horizon. The picture is nicely painted with two Japanese text characters 川 端 on the bottom left of lid. Which I believe translates as"Kawabata" and is probably the makers name.The image of child and adult is slightly sunken into the lid, which maybe to draw your attention to them or it could be where a pot or cup is placed. The rest of the box is covered in I believe black lacquer with maple leaves added to all 4 sides of the box. It has its original reddish brown hinges and lock but unfortunately no key. Opening the lid reveals another lid, ... morewhich is nicely decorated with what appear to be leaves and has a small metal handle comprising of a fir cone sitting on top of a chrysanthemum flower. Opening the interior lid reveals a thin silver coloured covering, which is in reasonable condition and suggests to me it was used for storing tea. The box/ tea caddy is in good condition for its age. However the exterior lid has been damaged around the edges(please refer to pictures) but the scene on the top has only a very small amount of damage to it. Isn't this just fantastic? I am delighted to offer for sale a Victorian arts and crafts wood and pewter tea caddy with twin compartments. Still with original foil lining. Complete with original lids for twin compartments which would have contained black and green tea. This tea caddy is presented in a classic Georgian sarcophagus shape although this piece more likely dates later. Circa 1860. It is made from wood(possibly boxwood) with a hand hammered pewter skin and turquoise decoration. On the lid there is an oval turquoise enamel cabochon inset. The inside of the lid is lined with a deep blue felt. Some minor losses to the turquoise decoration through age but this only adds to the charm of this antique and unusual collectable. One looks like he is either smoking or sipping something from a vessel. The other man looks like he is weaving, I believe. There are huts or houses, palm trees and leaves. All have bare feet. The men wear a pointed style hat. The woman looks like she wears a long scarf tied around her head. There are four, round agate cabochons set in primitive looking prong settings on the main piece and four more set on the lid. Antique International Silver Sterling Powder Jar or Tea Caddy 170g
This auction is for a beautiful antique sterling silver covered powder jar or tea caddy. The powder jar is beautifully decorated with a floral repousse pattern and has a raised flower handle in the middle of the lid. The powder jar measures approximately 2 3/4” tall to the top of the finial on the lid by 4” across at its widest point at the center. It weighs approximately 170 grams. The jar is engraved on the bottom with“STERLING” The American Indian head mark for the International Silver Company, and the number“102” The powder jar is in excellent condition for its age with a nice shiny finish, a nicely fitted lid and no significant dents or dings. There are a couple of small dents on the outside, but they are too subtle to show up in a photograph. There are also some light scratches on the bottom from use and some tarnishing on the inside ... morebottom surface, but the displayed surfaces are free of any scratching or tarnishing. Check out my! Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is a rare silver plate tea caddy or humidor made by Barker and Ellis. Formerly Barker Brothers Silversmiths. The canister is engraved in a floral pattern with shells above and below the monogram space. It is not monogrammed. The lid is engraved in ornate floral filigree. The lid fits snugly and creates a perfect seal. But the hinge, which is attached to the lid, has become detached from the canister. Measurements: approximately 4” high. Including knob and 2 ¾” in diameter. Bottom Markings: Menorah; 59. 26” and“England” This canister was used only as a tea caddy but Barkland-Ellis also made humidors of similar design. ♦ Please contact me with any questions.
