Antique PAIR Japanese Cloisonne Tea Caddy Jar Footed Gourd Shape PHOENIX Chinese
A spectacular pair of Japanese cloisonne tea caddies in superb condition. Meiji Period. Approximately mid to late 1800's. Each jar is 4 1/2" tall by 3 1/2" wide. Both caddies have a squat gourd or pear shape and feature a trio of phoenix flying across a dark blue field. There are floral patterns floating between the birds. Each of the three phoenix are different on one jar but has an identical match on the other. On one jar the three birds are fling towards the right and on the other they are flying towards the left. And when they are placed side by side they make a perfect complementary pair. There is one mustard, one white and one lavender phoenix on each jar. Please email me with any questions before bidding. Antique Japanese Kutani tea caddy Matsumura jar
This porcelain tea caddy or covered jar is 8 7/8 inches tall and 6 ½ inches wide. It is eight sided. It is decorated with natural scenes of flowers and birds placed among textile patterns. The decoration is nicely done. On two of the sides there is the head of a dragon on the edge. It has a matching lid. The jar is signed on the bottom and part of the mark reads Matsumura Zo or made by Matsumura. The piece was likely made in Kutani or Yokohama. It dates to the late Meiji period or Taisho period(1900 to 1920) The piece was used to store black tea and there is still some residue in it. There are no chips on the jar but there are two small firing cracks on the footrim. There is also a small firing crack on the top rim. There is some staining to the top rim. Antique Chinese Wood Tea Caddy Box-Etched Floral Panels-
A very lovely old Chinese tea box or caddy made of wood. It has canted corners making eight panels which are each etched with a floral design. The handles. Hinge and front locking plate are all brass. There is NO key and the locking plate is not made for a key. It is just a small rotating piece which fits into the under plate, however, it doesn't quite lock as part of it has worn off. There are no breaks in the wood and it appears to be all original, as near as I can determine. The box measures 5 3/4" x 6" x 6" tall not including the handles. A very charming old piece.

A very fine antique Japanese lacquer& shibayama tea caddy. The top set with hand carved oxbone and mother-of-pearl figures under a maple tree, with leaves falling in the background. It is signed with a small bone medallion cartouche in the lower right. Transparent lacquered interior with goldstone; shiny black lacquered bottom. There is a bronze or brass escutcheon. The tea caddy shows wear commensurate with age and use. There is chipping and dings to the lacquer on the rims of the lid, rim of the box and base rim. There is a 1-11/16" crack on the side of the tea caddy. The locking mechanism inside the caddy is missing, and there is no key with this box. This is a rare, very fine example worthy of the minor conservation it would require to bring it back to excellent condition. Please review the images. I'm not sure what I've got here. But I was told it may be Persian or from Iraq. Another source stated it was most likely from western Europe, so I'm not really sure. It's approximately 5 1/2" high X 4 1/2" wide X 2" deep. It is heavily lacquered with some cracks in the lacquer. The bottom is course with no lacquer. See pics and ask questions. ANTIQUE GEORGIAN/VICTORIAN INLAID STATIONERY BOX /TEA CADDY ? FOR RESTORATION
This is an antique box possibly Georgian or early Victorian measuring 10 1/8" 25.5cm) long. 7" 17.8cm) deep and 8 3/4" 22cm) high and stands on small brass ball feet. I am not entirely certain of it's age or original use but there is a velvet lining inside and indications that there may have once been two divisions so could possibly have been a stationery box, tea caddy or maybe used for some other purpose. The box is mahogany veneer inlaid with what appears to be satinwood. The satinwood looks to have been hand cut and inlaid and not machine produced. The mahogany venner has several splits in it and there are several small pieces of veneer missing. There are several age related knocks to the surface and also some bubbling of the veneer. The lock and escutcheon are original and the lock itself works with key but unfortunately ... moreat sometime in the past a previous owner has removed(sawn or filed off) some of the lid part of the locking device so would need repairing or replacing if you wanted to have it working. As you can see the lid is adrift with one hinge on the base and one on the lid and one of the hinges is damaged. The velvet lining to the interior also needs attention or replacing. In view of the condition I am offering as a restoration project. This very unusual Georgian small size tea caddy measures 185mm(7.25' x 125mm(5' x 120mm(5' high with the original glass mixing bowl measuring 48mm(2' across and standing 65mm(2.5' high. It is very well crafted from mahogany with carved gadroon boarders. Turned feet and loop handles with an inlaid mother of pearl shield to the top. The tea canisters are flush hinged and lift out of the caddy as does the cut glass mixing bowl. It is in good shape with a good colour and the only fault I can find with it is the replaced mother of pearl escutcheon(photo11) and is one of the most unusual and striking antique tea caddies I have come across. Although this piece is not marked others in the set we are offering are marked on the bottom with a W in underglaze blue. I believe this caddy is German from the Berlin factory which used the mark. Antique Barbour Silver Co Heavy Repousse Silverplate Tea Caddy
An original antique late 19th century silver plated tea caddy made and marked by the Barbour Silver Company of Hartford Conn the surface of which is covered with heavy repousse work depicting scenes from everyday European(Dutch? life. The Barbour Silver Co was formed in 1892 and became a division of International in 1898. The tea caddy is oval in form and measures approximately 4 1/2" tall and is 3 1/4" wide. The underside of the base is marked with the Barbour mark. Condition- retains its original untouched patina and it is free of any dents or repairs just some minor high point wear from normal use. Item is completely fresh to the market from the estate of an old time collector. This is a nice antique Chinese pewter tea caddie with 5 painted glass panels. Measures 4" in diameter and 7" tall. This item is heavy for it's size weighting 2 lbs.10 1/4 oz. Please see pics. There's a small dent on the top of the lid. 2 of the painted glass panels have some fading. The tea caddie was used and has some surface scratches. There are no chips or cracks in the glass panels.

Antique Indian Solid Silver Novelty Barrel Shape Raised Relief& Engrave Decorated Tea Caddy c. 1890 This Antique Tea Caddy or Tea Box measures approximately 3 inches or 7 7 mm across the widest part of its central body from side to side and it stands 4 1/8 inches or 104 mm tall to the top of the finial or handle on its lid. The tea caddy is hand made from 147.8 grams of solid silver in the novelty form of a coopered barrel that has a slightly domed push fitting circular lid. The outer rim of the lid overhangs the body and it has a step decorated center with a ball shaped finial or handle on the top for ease of opening. The outer body of the barrel has engrave decorated strap s that segregate the body into eighteen shaped panels of which nine of them have an alternate plannished or hammered decoration and the other nine panels along with ... morethe lid have been wonderfully hand embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated with Indian village scenes. The tea caddy or box has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and the underside of the body has been engraved with what I presume is an Indian silversmith or makers mark V75 all as photographed below, although I have been unable to find any silver marks as is very typical with these antique Indian silver items the tea caddy or tea box has been tested and it is guaranteed as being made from solid silver. I estimate that this novelty shape tea caddy was made circa 1880- 1900. The condition is used and Excellent for its age. The tea caddy has No Large Dents. No Holes, No Splits, No Cracks and No Repairs that I can find, the tea caddy stands straight, the definition and decoration is very crisp, the lid opens and closes tightly with ease although as the tea caddy is a used antique it does have some small shallow dents around its body and lid rim that are hardly worth mentioning along with the obvious signs that it was hand made and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected a

Antique 1700s ENGLISH WALNUT Wooden Chest DOME Top TEA CADDY Flame Smoke Grain
Tea in early 18 Century was expensive and was drunk in the famous pleasure gardens in London and the very Wealthy of the Colonies. Early tea caddies were small and made in precious materials. All caddies carried locks on them and it was typical in the 18 th century for the lady of the house to keep the caddy key on her chatelaine around her waist. This meant the servant and butler of the house would not be tempted to try such a precious commodity. Tea caddies by 1780 began to be made in walnut. Mahogany and were often Satinwood cross banded. They began to become larger from 1784 when the hated tea tax was removed. An emergent middle class could start to take tea for the first time as the average price of tea dropped by three shilling a pound. STUNNING VERY RARE This is an absolutely fabulous and substantial ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN solid sterling silver tea caddy which was made in London. England in 1904, by the famous Victorian silversmith, Sebastian Henry Garrard of R. S. Garrard& Company at their Haymarket workshops. It has a gorgeous tapered cylindrical shape with gorgeous and deep embossed floral and foliate decoration to the sides. It is NOT engraved. This wonderful piece measures almost 3" in diameter and stands 4" high. It is of very thick gauge silver. Very high quality and is VERY substantial- it weighs 182.0 grams- well over 5 3/4 troy oz. Antique/ Repousse Silver plate EPBM tea caddy Box. A remarkable Gem!
This auction is for(1) antique hinged lid Tea caddy- hallmarked EPBM; electroplated Britannia metal" This would be a pewter type alloy that has been electroplated with silver. A construction typical from about 1846 through the early 1900's. The size is about 5" to the top of the Finial and the sides are about 4" wide. The Finial piece is bent at an angle of about 10 to 15% from true and it is loose. It has been secured with a wing nut on the interior(an odd repair) No defining makers marks that I could find on this- but a really pretty piece. I believe that it was acquired between 1890 and 1910. It needs some TLC. But it faces up very nicely and it has some elaborate press work. No dents or serious issues. Some discoloration and scratches, as pictured. Item is stamped EPBM and 5126 on the bottom, along with 3 small impressed ... moredots. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. This auction open to USA residents and shipping destinations only! This old canister is clean inside and has some surface only rust on the outside bottom- there are no dents. The word tea and the leaves are hand painted. I don't know if the painting is original. But it looks very old- see photos. I have not cleaned this- it is as found. It measures 5 1/2" tall by 5 1/4" wide. Please see the other items I have listed. I am letting go of many of my treasured and loved pieces as I am moving and moving on so to speak. The Tea Caddy measures a little over 6" in height from the bottom of the feet to the top of the lid. The top comes off and inside is yet another lid where the tea would have been kept. On the bottom of the Tea Caddy is beautifully hand engraved: G.L.B from W.W.Y. July 13th 1894" It is marked Sterling Silver and Howard& Co.
