A very rare Tea Caddy circa 1790 with overall shell decoration.This needs restoring with more shells needed to be stuck on to replace the missing ones.But this is the only one of its kind I can find and once restored could be worth twice as much to a collector.The box is Rosewood or Mahogany.Original lock and hinges. Really lovely ornate Dutch.833 silver tea caddy. The spoon bowl is repousse but not the handle. Not sure of an exact age. Likely late 19th century. In amazing condition for its age, with no noticeable wear. Measures 5" long and 2.25" wide and weighs 40 grams. SU-34 hey.Like us on Facebook@ Old Weird Stuff-First of all. Small covered bulbous shape covered small covered urn or tea caddy. Antique hand made traditional floral enamel on brass cloisonne. Not marked for country of origin. Foil cloisonne is often a Japanese technique. Cloisonne enamel over brass has three foil accented circular reserves, and stylized flowers on green background, also has green enamel interior. The design circles the middle area around the jar, with simple stylized flowers in pink, white, blue, red, yellow. There are white and yellow dots at the top edge and also on the lid. This jar has three small brass feet outlined in light blue cloisonne, and brass scrolls and dots. Many photos, greatly enlarged for detail. Please keep actual measurements in mind! This is a wonderful antique wooden Tea Caddy. Looks like it is put together with old antique peg type metal nails. The box has an upper compartment and has no markings. It is very old but I don't know how old. The lid sinks in the center, I think from age but maybe it was made that way, I'm not sure which. Today, Kowloon is quite different but, back in the early 1980’s it was a little scary for an American girl to venture through these neighborhoods alone. I saw this little tea Caddy and some foo dogs. I liked the painting of the boy, braving the lion to save his friend.Also the little boy in wolfs clothing. The Butterflies around the edge of the pewter made it ... morespecial for me. I have kept in in a cabinet out of the elements and no sun for over 30 years since that day. The pictures behind the glass are still vivid. I do not know how old it is or its original origin. VERY RARE This is an absolutely fabulous and substantial ANTIQUE solid sterling silver tea caddy which was made in Birmingham. England in 1911 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, Walter& Frank Rabone at their Frederick Street workshops. It has a gorgeous tapering cylindrical shape with plain sides. A hinged lid with a spire finial and is raised on a skirt base. It is NOT engraved. This wonderful piece measures 3 5/8" in diameter at the base and stands 4 3/8" high. It is VERY substantial- it weighs 140.1 grams- 4 1/2 troy oz. It is in very good condition with less than the usual surface scratching. A few dings but NO dents with NO splits or repairs- SUPERB. The caddy is in excellent estate condition, the wear to the silver plate being confined to the lid, and where it was picked up on both sides copper shows through the scrolled pattern only. This is for a simply lovely. Antique Japanese porcelain Tea Caddy. It's a very fine example of circa 1880-1900 imported porcelain. It was made for the A.A. Vantine company, and has it's unusal porcelain postage stamp shaped marking on base. It has the Crossed flags showing the Imperial Chinese& Japanese flags, with Turkish crescent moons. This caddy is made of very fragile and thin molded porcelain.the detailing is all hand-painted. Gold leafy garlands, and beaded moriage floral bouquets. It is in extremely good condition. Here’s a truly beautiful piece. An antique Indian silver tea caddy. Decorated with the gorgeous Kasmiri shawl pattern– the pattern that inspired England’s Paisley pattern. The box is also a lovely shape, rectangular within concave corners, giving a very strong, tactile feel. This pattern is ideal for silver because it prevents fingerprints showing. Up for auction is a beautiful piece manufactured and marked by the Barbour Silver Co. of Hartford Conn during the early 19thcentury. The surface is covered with heavy repousse work and is extremely well done. The Barbour Silver Cowas formed in 1892 and became a division of International in 1898. The teacaddy I believe is silver plated. Is oval in form and measures approximately 4 1/2" tall and 31/4" wide. It still has its original patina and is free of any dentsor repairs just some minor high point wear from normal use. Item is sold as it was received. In great used condition. This tea caddy is rectangular in form. With a domed fluted cover and artichoke finial. It is superbly embossed with lions, birds and scrolls. This tea caddy stands 5" inches tall. With the bottom measuring about 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" inches. It weighs 5 ounces. The caddy is hallmarked on both the lid and body. Tea caddy made in England in the first two decades of the 19th century during the Regency period in England. Made of rosewood with the original glass mixing bowl intact. This is an especially nice TEA CADDY. It stands over 5 ½ inches tall. The cobalt bottle is four sided with beveled corners. The beveled corners measure ¾ of an inch. The piece measures 3 ½ inches wide from side to side. It is stamped with the German Silver 800 stamping on the bottom. This stamping shows the moon. A crown and the number 800. There is also what I believe to be a maker’s stamp with a sun or star with rays coming through a cloud. I have shown the silver stamp in a close photo. An Antique George III / Regency Satinwood Small Tea Caddy with Inlaid Shell
An antique early 19th century late Georgian or Regency period satinwood tea caddy. It is a nice small sized example and it has two internal divisions for the tea which feature the original lids. Inside the compartments much of the original foil lining has been lost as you would expect and the walls have been over painted with grey. The inside of the lid and underside of the division lids are lined with marbled paper. The caddy is veneered in satinwood and the top has contrasting mahogany with in inset satinwood panel. This panel contains a shell detail. A favoured decoration in the early 19th century. The caddy is nicely polished and the veneer generally very good for the period. The caddy stands on four bun feet and it also has an ivory colour escutcheon. There is a lock and key. But the lock is non-functional. Antique 19th century Earthenware Terracotta Tea Caddy Yi Hsing CheKiang Provence
This Beautiful old Chinese Tea pot was made of red clay and is decorated with several embossed pictures of a man holding a wheel. It is marked on the bottom as well as under the lid. We do not speak or know enough about Chinese to make any claims about this pot. So we took it to the Antiques Road Show to get information about it. Here is what we learned. It was made in Yi Hsing in the Chekiang provence of China. The mark on it says that it was made during the Chien Lung era(1735-1796) but after further study, We found that it wasn't(so much for hopes) Instead it was made in the 1870's under a commision by the company that used the original mark. This we can believe. It even looks old. It is in very good condition. It's only issues are a couple of chips along the edge of the lid. Please see the photos for details.
