ANTIQUE/VINTAGE SPICE CANISTERS MADE IN GERMANY
Up for auction are two(2) Antique/Vintage kitchen matching canisters. Made in Germany that is marked on the bottom of the canisters. On one of the canister it is stamped in black letters"Germany" and marked"Amerika" in the canister at the time it was made. On that Canister which is the Ginger canister there is a chip on the bottom and a very slight tip at the top of the canister. The other canister has a sllight chp on the bottom and at the top. Each lid has a chip. There is an"ALLSPICE" and a"GINGER" canister. I believe these were made in 1940's in Germany. They are an off white color with green ivy and grapes. Here is a lovely antique spice jar! This jar is porcelain with a"transfer ware" floral pattern-not hand painted except for the words and the trim-it looks like a transfer floral pattern was applied. It says Czecho-Slovakia. Victoria on the bottom and is white with a pretty floral pattern. It measures 4 1/2" tall with its lid on, X 2 1/4" square. Please look at all of my pictures carefully to see detail and condition! Condition: This is in used condition. The gold painted trim on the lid is nearly rubbed off. There is a flea bite chip in the rim under the lid + some tiny crazing lines in areas; you can see(the flowers) are a transfer pattern as the edges look perfectly even-not hand painted. Antique marquetry spice cabinet Wood inlay 8 inch chest of drawers jewellery box
An old inlaid miniature cabinet. I am not sure whether it was made for a specific purpose. Such as a jewellery box or a spice cabinet. It has certainly been used as a spice cabinet- two of the drawers still have a faint aroma of tea. 6 drawers. Two of them covered by a sliding"door" White knob handles. There is inlaid marquetry decoration. With geometric patterns, on the fronts of the four"exposed" drawers, and in a central panel on the sliding door. I am not sure when or where this cabinet was made. But it is certainly not recent, and I would think probably in the early part of the 20th century. Condition: Basically good condition. But not perfect. It was made for practical use as well as ornament. And it has clearly been used. It has some scratches and scuffs. And some minor damage. All 6 drawers work and are basically ... moreintact. But there are minor splits in the bases of 2 small drawers, and the long drawer at the bottom(the one with the initials on the base) has more damage, as shown. The sliding"door" that covers the top 2 right-hand drawers has clearly been repaired in the past. And is a bit loose. The inlaid panel is warped, and the frame surrounding this panel has been glued together messily. It really needs to be taken apart and mended properly. It sits well in place when the cabinet is on a flat surface, but if the cabinet is tilted forward, it falls out. There are some small chips in the drawer handles. The back panel is split just above the base. One of the wooden"shelves" dividing the drawers is loose on one side. Please look at all the pictures- the damaged parts are shown clearly in the last few pictures. Spice cabinet I am offering a vintage spice cabinet. This is a very neat item. Appears to be almost entirely handmade with wood slats and hand-made hammered copper hardware. I see only 2 manufactured straight screws inside the cabinet. Everything else looks hand-done. Some wear and patina. Wear mostly showing on top and bottom of cabinet. Not sure what the wood is, but it is very light- probably pine with a dark finish. I took several pictures from all angles so you can see for yourself. I really don't have any solid information on this piece, I bought it from an older couple that have dealt in collectibles for years are were selling off their treasures. Here is a very old one of the first if not the first storage for coffee. Sugar flour and salt containers, each one has a lever on the outside of the box that you crank and the mixer inside will sift it into the tray and then you pull out the tray and put in your meal or whatever your making the sugar drawer holds 5 pounds the flour box holds 5 pounds the coffee holds 3 pounds. the big canister holds a lot more it looks like this is a really neat item. Antique handmade five drawer spice box or chest. This primitive wood box has dove tail joints and looks like it is mostly glued. Except for a few old nails here and there. The knobs are old porcelain and a couple are not attached. The chest is missing one knob. I'm not sure if the pulls are original to the chest, they may be replacements. There has been a previous repair to the left side scroll work as seen in picture five. I believe the wood is either pine or poplar. The chest measures 15" height, 13" wide, by 8 1/2" deep. The copper base and lid are joined by copper chain hingess and the lid has a copper catch at the front that locates to the base and can be locked with a padlock. The lid is dome shaped and has a swing handle on top. It is all hand wrought and it has a real nice look to it.
