This very fine antique. Rosewood clarinet is stamped with the following on all three sections: C. MAHILLON& Co. LONDON” Two star motifs and the number 2890. The total length is 22.5 inches. I am not an expert on musical instruments but as far as I can see this superbly made clarinet is excellent condition with no damage to the wood or the metal fittings. I have not attempted any cleaning; the rosewood body retains the original patina and apart from polishing the wood and the metal I believe it needs no further attention. However. As can be seen from the photos, there is no mouthpiece. It has the Adolf Huttl incised trade mark with Eagle on 2 pieces. I understand very old clarinets made by German makers marked B are indeed B flat. No cracks or chips- it appears to be in fine clean solid complete condition- check my photos. A rare clarinet by a master maker. Based on research I found using Google. This instrument dates to the late 19th century. The Huttl family also used the spelling Hittl and Huttle. Adolf(Adolph) was born 1859 era. At any rate, this is certainly a rare well made genuine antique rosewood clarinet. Some interesting history I found on Google: Among the founding group of skilled workers at Boston Musical Instrument Manufactory were ... morethree brothers Anton. Erhardt and Ferdinand Hüttl. They had emigrated with their families from their native Austria and arrived in the United States on the bark Nelson on June 29, 1854. Erhardt and Ferdinand were already skilled instrument makers, while Anton was originally a gunsmith. They were hired by Joseph Lathrop Allen, and Messrs. Hartman and Esbach were among their co-workers at Allen Manufacturing. All three brothers became naturalized citizens of the United States on September 17, 1860. Anton Hittl(ca.1823- 1907) was the son of Anton Hüttl and Theresa Mayer Hüttl. He arrived in the United States in about 1855 and became a naturalized citizen on September 17. 1860. The stool is sprung and most likely stuffed with straw I did not take apart to see however its not just fabric covered board. The stool was recovered perhaps 60-70 years ago as it has the upholsters tag its an old one when businesses had 4 digit phone numbers. The frame is beautifully carved on the legs with large flowers and leaves. I believe the frame is either rosewood or mahogany. Large Antique Victorian Crucifix Brass Rosewood
This is an authentic antique 18th-19th century Victorian crucifix that fine mental floral ornamentation on rosewood and a brass/metal framing. The cross has cherubs on each ending and in in every regard highly detailed. It looks like that his crucifix has been in a fire as marks from high heat are visible. Please not that there is some minor damage on some of the ornamentations in the cross. On the right. Left, and top ornamentation that holds the cherub one out of three screws is missing. This is not a problem as the parts are held very well with the available screws. The back of the crucifix is dominantly plain wood in the metal framing and has a solid structure on which the cross can be hang on the wall. Unusual Wm. Gilbert Antique 8 Day Rosewood Shelf Cl;ock With Label
I have never come across this model in my many years of clocking. I could not find it in any of my clock books. The rosewood case is almost perfect. Clock had some decoration on the top as you can see it is missing. There are some of the decorations in photos that I believe came from the top. Clock does run and strikes but the movement is very dirty and needs to be cleaned. This is a very pretty clock and in need of a good home or office. Measuring 15 I/2' high X10 1/2' wide. 1920s Regal Soprano Ukulele Spruce Rosewood Snowflake Inlay Vintage Antique Rare
Aloha! For auction today is this unusual. High-end Regal soprano ukulele from approximately the late 1920s to early'30s. Sold under Regal's own imprint, the build is very like that of their"Superior" guitar, and"De Luxe" tenor guitar of the same period: a natural spruce top, rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck, complex binding around the top, back and sound hole, an ivoroid heel cap bound in black and white, faux-pearl"snowflake" inlays on the fingerboard, and the"Regal" medallion inlaid in the headstock, also of faux pearl. The fingerboard is rosewood with 17 nickel-silver frets. The tuners look original and work well; indeed, everything on the instrument looks original. Its overall length is 20-5/8" scale length 13-1/4" body length 9-1/8" and the width at the widest point ... moreis 6" The action is low(just over 3/32" at the 12th fret, G string) and the neck straight. The spruce top gives it a bright. Jazzy sound- very 1920s, lively and fun to play. A real party animal. Strung with Worth Brown BL Fluorocarbons, the feel is smooth and light right up the neck. CONDITION: Generally good. Two shrinkage cracks in the top have been glued and cleated(see photo 2. Below and left of bridge) Two side cracks have been glued, cleated and reinforced with vertical struts for stability(see photos 6, 7) The side repairs were sealed with a light overspray of nitrocellulose guitar- a subtle job, not noticeably different from rest of the finish, which is original. Otherwise the finish is excellent on the top, with play wear on the tenor side of the upper bout(see photo 2) and sound elsewhere, though lightly checked and somewhat clouded, also with a spot of play wear(buckle rash" at the upper right corner of the back(see photo 5) NEWBIES: If you have a zero feedback score. It is called the'Chandos' model, and features details that are special, even for a Seth Thomas. For example, the 6 columns that adorn this special clock are real wood. Most of the Seth Thomas antique clocks had columns that were made from a cellulose plastic, but this special edition has 100% real wood columns! This clock looks good ... morein a mansion or an average home, it just has that quality to fit in anywhere! It measures 18 inches wide, 12 inches tall, and 8 inches deep. It is an 8 Day Model. Which means that after a full wind, the movement will run for 8 days, striking the bell on the half hour, then striking the gong, counting the hours at the top of the hour. The gong has a deep, resonate tone that you will love to listen to. The movement has been entirely rebuilt with new mainsprings and new bushings where needed. They used their finest movement in this clock, the 89C model, which is tried and true. The timing has been set, and the beat is in perfect motion. As long as the new owner has this movement serviced every 2 years or so, this clock should last the rest of your life. It comes totally complete, including original pendulum bob and winding key. There are a couple of dings in the rosewood toned case from being used for over a century. But they are very small, blend in well, and lend to the genuine look of the clock. Wonderful 18th century or early 19th century card or game table in as found condition. Wonderful inlay unfortunately the flip top is missing. I did ask at the estate sale. Asked hell, I begged to see if the other piece was available, to no avail. So it is being sold as is and hopefully one of you ebayers has the knowledge and resources to restore this table to its original glory! You can see in the photos that the feet are dovetailed into the base and that it has hand turned screw threds that screws into the carved platform that the top sits on. The table is 21 inches wide, 16 inches deep and approximately 30 inches tall. Rosewood veneer with satin wood inlay. Wonderful cribbage score keeping inlay. Great interior! Antique Rose Quartz Foo Dog Pair with Custom Rosewood Stands
This is a truly beautiful pair of Foo dogs or lions carved from rose quartz. There is a male. With his paw on a ball and a female, with her paw on an infant foo dog or lion. The carving is well done, although difficult to photograph due to the nature and color of the stone. There are many details including the curly manes and facial features and teeth, which will be seen when you have them in your possession. I did my best to photograph them in different lighting conditions to show them at their best. The rose quartz has many inclusions and flaws to the stone, this only adds to the natural beauty. There are no chips or repairs and although there are cracks, these are the characteristics of the stone and not damage. None of the cracks go all the way through the pieces, so there is no danger of them falling apart. Two corners of the male's ... morebase are not perfectly angled and I initially thought these were chips, but the rosewood base is made to accommodate these so either it was made this way or has been like this since the bases were created. The animals stand on a carved base of rose quartz but also come with custom made rosewood stands. These are each carved from one piece of wood and one is tailor made for each beast. They are finished with a high gloss varnish which brings out the beauty of the wood. The dogs or lions each measure 4 3/4" tall, about 2 1/2" front to back and about 2" side to side. When seated on the rosewood stands, the height is about 6" I know that these are antique but I have no idea of the age, just that they belonged to my grandparents and then my parents before me. Antique Chinese hand-carved dark rosewood or boxwood statue of immortal
Up for your consideration is this superbly carved rosewood or boxwood Chinese immortal. Circa 1900. The epitome of grace, he is exquisite from every angle. The beautiful movement in his arms and delicate flow of his garments is completed by the wave-like curvature of the base upon which he stands. The work of a master craftsman, he is simply elegant. The statue is in excellent condition and possesses a beautiful patina. As seen in picture 6, the wood has split due to age on the right side of the base, however, this split shows no movement and is not affecting the statue's stability. There are other age cracks in the piece which are very minor.
