THE MIRROR GLASS IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE WOOD RETAINS A WONDERFUL PATINA THAT ADDS CHARM AND TESTIMONY TO THE AGE OF THIS PIECE, BUT IS HARD TO CAPTURE IN PICTURES. AS SEEN, THERE ARE CHINESE JUNKS, BACKGROUND PAGODAS AND THE SEA/OCEAN CARVED IN DEEP RELIEF REPEATED ON BOTH BORDERS OF THE MIRROR. Pretty Antique Rosewood Work / Sewing / Jewellery Box. Original Fitted Tray.
Pretty Victorian box veneered in rosewood with a mother of pearl central cartouche and escutcheon plate. There are the original brass stop hinges and a working lock with key. Inside is the original tray and lining. Including the dark pink silk. The pocket on the underside of the lid is also covered in the original ruched silk and has a little brass catch. The silk is in very good undamaged condition although there are a few spots on the compartment covers. The exterior of the box has a nice grain and colour and is in very good condition. There is a repair to the veneer on the right side. Bottom corner, but this is very inconspicuous. Overall the box looks lovely on display and it is nice to have the original interior in such good condition. Measures 10 inches(25.3cm) x 6.75 inches(17.3cm) x 3.75 inches(9.5cm) high. This is a beautiful mid 18th century rosewood carving statue of an old man with a cane. The eyes are inset and are ivory. There are two imperfections- there is a piece of the wood at the base that has come off. Has not been repaired. It is seperate. Seen on last photo. Sorry poor image, had to scan it. The second is the very top part of his cane- it has broken off, but was missing when I purchased over 40 years ago. Hard to see unless looking for it. For it's age. It was actually purchased from‘Boots Cash Chemists Ltd. at some point during 1912. And at that time cost 6/9d(six shillings& nine pence– equivalent to around £31.27 at today’s prices) This information is provided by two receipt slips included with the set. The set is housed on a fitted top tray within the case; sundry other items(described below) are found beneath the tray and behind a flap in the lid of the box. Although sold by Boots. This set, which is unsigned, was almost certainly imported from France and has several typical characteristics of French drawing sets. Including the rosewood veneer and the‘double’ lock on the case. Delicate VICTORIAN ROSEWOOD NEEDLE CASE You are bidding on a delicate Victorian needle case made of rosewood! I found this piece at an estate sale along with a companion thimble case. More vintage sewing accoutrements, and a lot of other interesting items! Check out my! This is a lovely needle case! It dates from the Victorian era. When sewing tools were prized and were kept in their own decorative cases. Also know as treenware. This needle case is made of rosewood. It is turned on a lathe for a decorative shape, and the inside is hollowed to hold milady's needles. The top screws onto the base. The needle case is 1 1/8" in diameter and it stands 3 7/8" tall. There is no maker's mark. There is a small check in the wood on the top of the case(see photo) Otherwise. This case is in excellent condition. This is from the 1800's and includes the original key(which is still functional) as well as the original decorative and ornate mixing glass(cut crystal) This tea caddy has the pyramid shaped lid. The tea caddy is in excellent shape for something at least 120+ years old. There is some normal wear which is to be expected. Nothing significant or that which stands out. It has two"tea boxes" which are in very good condition. The glass is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. Here's a rare antique Chinese spectacularly carved reticulated solid rosewood barrel stool seat with a round red granite top. The stool is very heavy and larger than most I've seen. It is guaranteed old and not a recent cheap reproduction. Antique Chinese rosewood furniture in original condition is getting harder and harder to find. Measures 20" 51cm) in diameter and 21" 53cm) in height. Unfortunately. There are some condition issues. It is missing two large pieces on one side, and a small piece of a flower carving(see last two photos) I do not have pieces of the missing wood. The stool is very sturdy.
