The upholstery i believe may be original but it is hard to tell. It does have some wear, especially on the seat and the upholstery on the back of the chair is torn and peeling away. Antique Small Accordion@1830 MOP keys. Rosewood and ebony with hand cut inlay.
A rare and unusual small accordion from the early 1800's. It has mother of pearl keys and beautiful hand done inlay in either rosewood or ebony. What appears to be the original bellows are intact. The reeds are in the box and seem to work. It is 12 inches long and a little over 4 inches wide. Squeezed shut it measures about 7 inches from top to bottom. It is in kind of rough shape. There are four mother of pearl key covers missing. The wire and pad assembly for one of the holes is missing. Some of the inlay is missing on the bass end of the box. I have purposely shown it with several of the mother of pearl key covers askew. They just need to be lined up and the mounting screw tightened. I prefer you to see the worst. So that's it- A beautiful old accordion that could be restored without too much effort. I would like to see it restored ... moreso I'm pricing it low to encourage someone to come and fix it. Offered for auction is this beautiful Rosewood Belter laminated Rosalie w/out Grapes pattern sofa. 7 layers of rosewood lamination provide the back and side rails for this sofa with the arms and legs being solid rosewood. Huge carved crest of flowers and leaves tops the center of the back of this sofa with scroll elements in other locations. Some dings. Scratches, gouges, and missing small pieces of wood characterize this 150 + year old sofa and hence the lower asking price. While the sofa can be used as is and is very comfortable, the existing show cover has a hole in the material and also shows signs of wear. 6 authentic antique brass and rosewood non ebonized clean tear drop drawer pulls
Sold as is where is. non ebonized rosewood and brass drawer pull Early to mid 18th century drawer pulls 6 pieces total( 1 pc. is smaller; 1pc. post is short with no nut) Dangling tear drop pulls were popular throughout the late Victorian era. Typically found on Eastlake or Renaissance Revival furniture. Drawer pulls are most commonly made of brass. An alloy of copper and zinc, a tradition that dates to the William and Mary period when round drop pulls were cast. These early round or pear-shape pulls were usually flat or hollow on the back and were mounted on a thin brass back plate that often was“chased” for additional decoration. Around the turn of the 18th century the cast bail handle appeared, attached to a drawer front with cotter pins clinched on the inside, similar to the earlier drop pulls. The ends of these early bails curved inward ... moreto complete the handle. Early in the Queen Anne period the bail was attached to posts with rounded heads that accepted the protruding ears of the bail which by now were curved outward. Hanging from the inner sides of the posts. This configuration lasted for most of the rest of the 18th century, reversing itself again for Hepple white pulls at the beginning of the Federal era. The Queen Anne post and bail hardware had a thicker brass back plate than William and Mary examples and the posts were often threaded to attach a crudely made nut on the inside of the drawer. Later Queen Anne and Chippendale back plates were not chased. The shapes became the main decorative element with Chippendale adding elaborate piercings. Early and mid-18th-century brasses were cast in a sand mold using a wooden model of the hardware to form the mold. Sand cast hardware often has“inclusions” from impurities found in the sand. The backs of flat sand cast brasses have the texture of the sand in the mold while the edges will show the marks left by a file as it was shaped and smoothed. It will hold a 5 3/4" X 4" photo. It's well made with alternating dowels for easy removal and cleaning of the two pieces of glass. It looks like rosewood and satinwood to me. The fluted stair-step base is is 9" long and 1 7/8" wide. It's 5 1/2" tall. What a great look! The previous 82 year old owner was a 1953 Yale graduate(and multi-degreed Yale professor) whose physician father also graduated from Yale in 1929. Included in this wonderful estate was a large suitcase filled with three generations of kimonos that have been packed away since 1964. You are bidding on an antique. Walnut or rosewood, wood/wooden, casket/sarcophagus, tea caddy/box with its original, working key. The caddy measures 4 3/4" x 8 3/8" x 4 3/8" high. It has two, interior compartments, as shown, and 4, matching, bun feet. It has a crack in the top that is most visible from the inside, as seen in my last photo, and someone has done a messy glue job on one of the compartment knobs. This listing is for an antique George Cloos. Crosby Model Fife. This is a 17” rosewood fife with German silver ends. It is hard to date accurately, Cloos made fifes at least back to the 1860’s and into the 1900’s. I can’t tell you about its sound as I have no clue as to how to play it. This fife is in nice condition with a small scratch or nick here or there from normal use, but no cracks or major damage. This has no been cleaned. It is marked on the side Crosby and has a logo marking. A music holder was with this fife when I got it and it is being included with it. The holder appears to be made of brass. Antique Victorian Rosewood Pomander
This is a lovely antique Victorian pomander turned and carved from Rosewood which has aged beautifully. It is suspended by a length of cord which is a little grubby to be honest and if I were keeping it( I was very tempted) I'd probably replace it with a bit of gold cord and a tassle, fill it with pot pouri and hang it in my lounge. But each one was broken off at some time in the distant past and reglued into place, one is attached a little off-kilter as shown. The repair is sturdy and the pedestal still displays beautifully. The original'CHINA' marking on the bottom is partially gone as it was where the hole is, but it obviously did say'China' ... moreoriginally. It has a lovely patena that only age can impart. The original owner(1866-1936) was wheelchair-bound. So this desk was well used and loved. It has remained in the same family ever since. The box measures 15" wide, 10½" deep, and 5½" tall(I believe this is large for a writing box of this age) You must look at the photographs to appreciate the beauty of this piece! The top is adorn with delicate designs. Separated by thin strips of metal. Gold gilding, mother-of-pearl, and various shades of inlaid wood make up the floral/vine-like center and the borders around it. There is a diamond-shaped brass plate around the key hole; the original key is included and still works to lock& unlock the box! There is also an inlaid brass notch on the box's top to lift the lid with ease. Amazing craftsmanship! The box has a hinged lid and opens fully to reveal a rich purple velvet-covered inclined surface. The purple is now faded around the edges with age(as you can see in the photos) There are five cubbyholes. One of which is rectangular(with a lid) to accommodate pens/pencils; and four square cubbies perfectly sized for the two ink bottles(included, although one is missing the cap) as well as other writing supplies. A local Bergen County historical family. The clock runs and keeps good time, and counts the hour on a gong. It has a 30 hour movement. Also there is a rod on the left side hand of the works to adjust the hour. The clock case is very solid, however it is missing a bit of its rosewood veneer(see pictures) But it still has a very charming look to it. It has its original pendulum, and comes with a key that will work the clock. The glasses are also original to the clock, and the face is painted on zinc or tin. This good quality bow measures 735mm(29' long x 30mm(1.25' deep and weighs 58 grams. It is fabricated from what looks to me like Rosewood with ox bone faux ivory mounts. It needs restringing and has a small crack in the faux ivory knob(photo3) common with this type of natural material. The faux ivory and wood have a good patina only achieved through genuine age and it has a really good quality feel about it. Offered here is a beautiful Antique 19th Century Chinese Carved Rosewood. Huanghuali, Hungmu or simular Table Top Chest with mirror frame. This beautiful piece of furniture is made of richly colored well grained wood. The front panel is ornately carved with a Cherry Tree in a decorated vase on a stand in front of ribbons and scrolls. What appears to be books on a rack, round box, a Gongshi vase with scrolls and a wand with tassel. Branching tree in a pot, another vase with fronds on a geometric stand and a bowl with two peaches. The sides an the bracket feet are simple. The oval frame sits on two scrolled feet with scrolling fretwork. To open the front panel. Take your two thumbs an push the two front and push the two top corners to release the bottom, lift out and up and slide in. Measurements: 27" high. 19 1/2" wide. 10" ... moredeep. BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE ROSEWOOD ASIAN CHINESE CARVED WOOD MASK WITH BONE EYES
Up for sale is a gorgeous carved Chinese rosewood mask with bone eyes. T he carving is very nicely done. It measures approximately 8.5" high and 6" across. I believe they eyes are made of bone. There are two splits in the wood. One is on the back where the mask would rest on a nail on the wall and can be seen in the fifth photo. The second is on the loop behind the head on the left right hand si de which can be seen in the sixth photo(towards the right of the photo. It is a tight split so it is hard to notice and doesn't attract from the mask. Buyer to pay shipping as indicated in the shipping calculator.
