Antique Victorian EASTLAKE Picture Frame~Walnut Etchings~Burl Wood? Walnut
Up for auction is an antique victorian Eastlake deep well picture frame. It is walnut wood and it looks like burl wood on the top part of the frame but I am not sure. I'm not a dealer but I know it is Eastlake. There is a frame of gold on the interior surrounded by 2 layers of walnut wood frame. Both walnut sections have intricate carvings of eastlake flower designs.typical of eastlake. This frame is a deeper frame than some others that I have. This is 3" deep. Although the front part of the frame is pretty good. The sides that are Black painted are rougher. 3 of the 4 sides have chipping of black paint. Looks like it was scraped on something. It can certainly be repainted black on the sides but I just never did. I bought the frame this way at an estate sale. By private party, is an antique Danish marble-top washstand in excellent condition. This piece is a bow-front, carved, burl wood cabinet, with a shaped two-tier marble top. I believe this cabinet dates from the early 20th Century, and that the wood is either cherry or walnut. The design features two curved sliding drawers in front, with a large, very ... moreclean, interior space behind the two curved, hinged door panels below. The marble top is removable for transport. These washstands often doubled as baking cabinets. And they make for excellent cocktail or wine service bars, as well. Very fine wood surfaces delicately hand-crafted and shaped. The finish is a light nut brown with Nordic tones. It is not as"red" as it appears in the photos. This piece is in excellent condition all the way around. The two or three flaws that are evident are very minimal. One of the front handles feels a bit loose. And another handle needs a replacement screw. There are no significant bumps or dents anywhere, and the only blemish on the finish is a bit of rubbing that shows on the edges of the foot pedestals. Intricately carved image of the 3 figures being Vishnu and his consorts with the figure behind them being Garuda, his protector. The back is carved into leaf patterns and there' s a hole carved through the middle. It's made from a burl wood but hard to tell since most of the outside surface of the burl was carved off. There is an area above and just right of the Garuda's face that has the remnants of the the outside burl surface. Hard wood and fairly heavy for it's size. ITEM CONDITION: Excellent condition. We are pleased to offer this antique to vintage coffee table. STUNNING burled mahogany veneer encompasses the entire table top. The grain pattern is quite striking. The top is elongated and scalloped. The edge of the top features a black painted trim. The top is skirted. The table column is substantial and rounded. There are 4 large. Carved acanthus leaves featured here. The relief areas in between the leaves has a hammered texture with the black paint repeated here. There are 4 substantial legs, which feature a scrolled design. Again, the inner sections of the scrolls have a hammered texture and again, are finished in a black paint. The table is quite beautiful. The cabinet has some wear.there is a strip of brass inlaid on the front missing at the top thin piece on right side front sticking out that mostly could be put back in place with a front strip missing on the top pic 7 with layer of the burl missing same pic& loss pic 5& damage to back left corner pic 6. There was no key with it& I can't get it to close flush either me or needs a adjustment. The brass hinge on the back left side is missing a screw. There are 13 beautiful crystal aperitifs that have fitted slots they fit into with three slots that don't have glasses in them. This is a very old burl wood bowl from an old Dinwiddie Va family who came to that area to farm in the 1830's. This was said to have been from a Virginia indian tribe of that area but they couldn't say which tribe. This piece had been in the family since the 1800's. At some point one of the children penciled some indian looking designs on the sides. They are very faded and could be further cleaned off. Much use wear to this piece giving it great character. Antique African American Folk Art Burl Cherry Wood Brass Tacks Dog Head Cane
This hand crafted cane comes from an African American family in Cass County Michigan and is crafted from a natural form cherry limb with abstract dog head form. Natural burl figuring and hand-used–polished surface. It dates from the late 1800s-very early 1900s and measures 35 ½” tall x 4 5/8” across the handle and was apparently used by a left handed man based on the wear and use. The dog head-like image is enhanced by an old shrinkage crack that forms the mouth and there is a copper tack monogram JDB near the handle. The shaft shows areas of shrinkage and checking suggesting the cane was crafted and used green. It is absolutely untouched and un-enhanced with dry surface and verdigris to the copper tacks and brass pipe section ferule. It is sturdy and usable. Pair Antique Vintage Art Deco Biedermeier Burl Wood Veneer Book Ends
This is a handsome pair of antique vintage Art Deco Biedermeier Burl wood veneer bookends. I'm sensing they're from the 1920s. They each measure 5 1/4 inches tall(13.3 cm) They are 5 inches wide at the base and 3 3/4 inches wide at the top(12.7 cm. 9.5 cm) The piece you put under the books is 7 1/4 inches long(18.4 cm) They're both very well-made and excellent quality. The only issues I see is that one of them has some light white dots on it's top left-hand corner. As if a little of the paint chipped off(please see photo) There are a few minor dings on them also, but nothing that stands out at all. Each of the parts that the books sit on and the bottoms of those parts have light scratches, but fortunately these parts don't show. Each has the number 19015 engraved on its bottom. This is a very handsome burl wood and golden oak frame. The main section is a great looking burl wood veneer and the inner and outer sections are golden oak. I would date it late 1890s to approximately 1910. Overall. It measures 15 3/8" x 18 3/8" 39.05 cm x 46.67 cm) The back opening size is 12 1/8" x 15 1/8" 30.8 cm x 38.42 cm) The molding width measures 1 7/8" 4.76 cm) This frame is in very good condition. Original cast iron legs and what looks like a carved burl wood base adjustable stool with a powdery sea-green blue velvet seat and plenty of satiny fringe. It extends to roughly 24" high but has some"give" gets a little"wobbly" at the top when extended. it adjusts down to a height of about 19" The top has a bit of"give" but seems fine for use; otherwise. It has no damage. some very light spots on the seat but not overwhelming. The legs at the floor are about 14-1/2" apart and the seat top is about 13-1/2" in diameter.

Made of walnut burl wood which was the most decorative veneer used in the period and much sought after and considered a"prized possession" It also features a masterful intricate marquetry design. Additionally it shows carved details. Antique Music Box Burl Wood with Beautiful Inlay Burled
Antique inlaid burlwood music box with round feet. Measuring 7 1/2 by 4 1/4 inches(19 by 10.5) and 3 1/4 inches or 8 cm tall Key wind on the bottom The box plays one song that I can't quite place. The motor is a little loud when it plays and you can hear a whirring. The wire for the stop appears to be replaced and sometimes it moves a bit out of alignment. It can easily be moved back. As you can see in my pictures the wood shows wear with some marks and scratching to the varnish. It is beautiful wood and the box is finely made. There is an overturned basket that looks like it might be spilling milk down her dress but can't be sure about that. He is using a magnifying glass with great interest. As her dress is up, chest is somewhat exposed. Quite whimsical for the era this was made in. The outside of the box is dark green. It looks like horn or tortie, and then on the inside is burl wood. It measures 2 3/4 inches across, 1 1/8 inch tall. The only thing to mention is a 1/10th of an inch crack in the horn? near the threaded part at the rim. Both are held in place with brass studs/tacks. It has some flaws: It has two rows of 4 holes on the top; it probably had additional brass tacks for decoration. The lock does not work and has a broken part. And the lining paper is missing on the inside bottom. There is a crack in the bottom. Plus other normal wear consistent with age/use on an item that is well over 100 years old. I hope I am not making it sound too bad. Because as you can see, it has a nice look to it& it displays well.
