Fabulous buckle. I have never seen anything like it before. As far as I can tell it is out of a burl wood which has grains and swirls like this buckle. The line you see are natural to the wood. Looking at the back. You can tell it was hand carved. A very rare and unique piece. I couldn't find anything like it in my Google Search. Measures a approx 2 2/4" x 3" when hooked together. Circa 1800's wooden snuff box with exquisitely inlaid decoration of a mythical"Hippocamp" seahorse. The hippocamp is a mythical creature in Greek, Phoenician and Etruscan history. It is typically described as a horse in the torso/head and a scaley fish in the hindquarter. The God Poseidon is associated with this mythical creature. The box has a beautiful burled wood. Hinged lid. The lid has old brass hinges with original flathead screws. Very clever artistry with the seahorse being inlaid into the top left corner. The burled wood gives the illusion of a turbulent sea with the seahorse looking over its shoulder(see pictures) Some of the pictures were taken with and without the camera flash. Antique Burl Wood Early American Cricket/Child's Stool AAFA NO RESERVE
A superb and rare example of early Pennsylvania material culture in this child's stool or cricket stool constructed completely of old growth burl wood. Simply fantastic grain and patina on all sides of this stool. Fantastic joinery here. There are no nails at all! Includes a wide dovetail joint on the leg panels and four solid fat glue blocks on the underside of the stool surface. Thin cut burl wood shows almost imperceptible signs of kerf marks which are very hard to see in photos. Top cut-out finger notch is carved in a classic stylized bird motif common in early Pennsylvania German decorative arts. This piece came down through a prominent German family in New Orleans who settled here in the mid 19th century from Pennsylvania and set up a brewing empire here. Fine ANTIQUE DANISH marble-top bow-front burl-wood WASH STAND cabinet
Up for auction here. By private party, is an antique Danish marble-top wash stand in excellent, well-cared-for condition. This piece is a bow-front, carved, burl wood cabinet, with a shaped two-tier marble top. I believe this cabinet dates from the early-to-mid 20th Century, and that the wood is either cherry or walnut. This wash stand was originally purchased for $625 in the 1970s and has not lost any of its intrinsic value. The design features two curved sliding drawers in front, with a large interior space behind the two curved, hinged door panels below. The marble top is removable for transport. The marble itself is a fine white marble. Somewhat scarce in the US, and is in near-pristine condition. These wash stands often doubled as baking cabinets. And they make for excellent cocktail or wine service bars, as well. Or they can be re-fashioned ... moreinto modern bathroom wash stands, too. Very fine wood surfaces delicately hand-crafted and shaped. T he finish is a light nut brown with Nordic tones. This piece is in excellent condition all the way around. The two or three flaws that are evident are very minimal. One of the front handles feels a bit loose. And another handle needs a replacement screw. There are no significant bumps or dents anywhere, and the only blemish on the finish is a bit of rubbing that shows on the edges of the foot pedestals. The dimensions are 38 inches in width and 21 inches in depth. The marble top sits at 29 inches off the floor. With the marble backsplash rising an additional 10 inches. Reuge 2/50 Cylinder music box Swiss movement Thuya Burl wood Antique plays
Gorgeous Thuya Burl Wood music box with Reuge swiss movement. This seems to be an older Reuge music box. The bottom of the box includes a description where the wood comes from and how it is used. I took a good picture of the description. The box is in beautiful condition and measures 6x4.5x2.5 inches. The musical movement is Reuge made in Switzerland. It plays 2 songs, Vienna City of my Dreams and Vienna Life. The musical movement is 50 notes, when one song is finished it shifts and plays the second song. The cylinder has some tarnish as well as some of the comb but it does not effect the functioning. There is a quiet squeak in the background if you listen real close as it plays but it doesn't always do this. Just a beautiful quality vintage music box.

Antique French Ambonya burl/burr wood dresser box
From our last trip to France comes this interesting burl wood box. The box is cut from actual pieces of burl wood. Not the veneer. The wood with its inherent knots and twists is nicely worked into a box. There is a rope inlay on the top and the sides are mitered in a European way. The inside of the box has been covered in hand marbled paper at a later date. The box dates to the middle of the 19th century and has some marks to show it: one of the hinges has been re-glued and there is a faint pen mark on the inside of the lid. Amboyna burl is a particularly expensive type of burl. Costing much more than bigleaf maple burl, for example. It comes from padauk trees(Pterocarpus spp. of Southeast Asia. Padauk trees are quite common but the burl is extremely rare. The amboyna is usually a deep red, although the more rare moudui burl is the same species ... morebut the color is from golden yellow to yellow-orange. The common use for amboyna is interiors for luxury vehicles, turnery, cabinets, veneer, and furniture. Measurements are: 8 1/2" by 5 1/4" and 2 1/2" high.

Antique 4.25" Tibetan/Tibet Burl Wood Jah-Phor Tea Bowl w Silver Lining Up for sale is a wonderful. Rare antique Tibetan Jah-Phor or tea bowl made of burl wood and with a silver lining. It's 4.25" in diameter and 2" tall. The bottom is 2.5" in diameter. The side of the wood has a natural burl wood imperfection as seen in photo#3 which was intentional and not a flaw. The silver lining has little dings from age and wear. I purchased this at an estate auction. I've done nothing to treat the wood so there are some lighter places of color as in the 2nd photo that would be restored with some polish-but I wanted to leave the care of the piece to the buyer. I'm not certain of the exact age of the piece but I believe it to be 19th century. These bowls were too costly and not accessible to the ordinary Tibetan citizen ... moreand were used by the wealthy and connected. It has the patina of having been used for its intended purpose and is a terrific piece. Please note that my shipping time is up to 5 business days as I have multiple jobs and can only ship one day a week. There is a brass inlaid medallion with 3 initials"FROM" and another set of 3 initials. There is cracking. Splitting and some raised areas on the wood veneer. There are 2 nails used as pins to hold the hinge together. Really quite a shame it's in this condition, but with some patience and dedication, it could be restored. Beautiful vintage large oak Burl wood wall clock hand crafted antique!
This is a gorgeous piece of wood. The swirly patterns in the grain under the lacquered finish are jaw dropping. Awesome piece for a den.Man cave, or just about any other decor it is absolutely beautiful. The Oak wood was much easier to get years ago but now it is protected so it's becoming much harder and harder to find and this is a very fine example of of what oak burl can be used for. It measures 30 inches across at its widest point and 26 inches from top to bottom. And its just under 4 inches thick! which shows off some beautiful bark pattern on the outer edges. This is a Gorgeous Antique Wooden Chest that was most probably used a Silverware Chest- Box or Jewelry Chest. Very elaborate. The lightly padded silk lining is handpainted with Daisies with a corded trim surround in light blue and ivory. The silk that surrounds the flowers is a gathered ivory. The interior is a gathered pale blue silk lining The recessed handles on the chest are nickel plated brass. The woods of the box are fabulous- Mahogany and Burl. There are two pull out drawers. I don't know what these were previously lined with. They are currently lined with burgandy loose velvet pieces. The box- chest has a key which(when closed) can be locked. The lock does work. Really nice antique Victorian or Eastlake needlepoint armchair from the 1800s. This piece has nice carved. And burl wood accents. The wood looks to be walnut. Upholstery is in excellent shape, as well as the bones of the chair. The chair is still able to be sat in without issue. There are no cracks, breaks, or loose joints that I could find. Due to this piece being older you probably could find some sign of wear, but it will be hard to find. I am helping a friend sell this piece. It has been in his family for many many years. For sale is one Burl Wood Snuff Box lined with what I believe is cow horn. It is in good condition although the horn is separating from the hinged lid.see photos.should be an easy fix for the right person. This is or looks to be carved out of a solid piece of fine tight burl wood and internally lined for the most part with a horn veneer. Measuring approx 2 5/8 x 1 5/8 x 5/8 inches high. This was painted on top and the paint is mostly in tact but there is a spot missing on the right side in the middle. The paint has worn in places. Also on the top upper left hand corner where the lid sits. There is a chip in the wood. The top fits nicely. The hinges are secure! On the inside. Shabby Antique Cast Iron Burl Wood Victorian Brothel Fringed Velvet Piano Stool
Would have looked great in Miss Kitty's saloon or upstairs where those girls entertained! Original cast iron legs and what looks like a carved burl wood base adjustable stool with a powdery sea-green blue velvet seat& long strands of twisted satiny fringe. It extends to roughly 24" high but has some"give" gets a little"wobbly" when fully extended. it adjusts down to a height of about 19" The top has a bit of"give" but seems fine for use; otherwise. It has no damage. some very light spots on the seat but not overwhelming. The feet are about 14-1/2" apart and the seat top is about 13-1/2" in diameter.

I don't believe the jar is original since it has a plastic seal on the lid. It needs a screw to hold the one piece of wood in place that is removable to get the jar out. Other then these items. This plantation desk was custom made in Indochina circa 1850 it was commissioned by my Great Grandfather and fabricated by local craftsmen He had on staff during the time. The time period was during the French Occupation of Indochina in 1850. It is made of Burl Wood and I have a current appraisal on this piece from a reputable appraiser. The appraisal is a month old. I've listed this for what I was told is a low fair market value for this unique item. This obviously has been in my family since fabrication. Huge 16.5" x 17.5" out of round primitive wood dough bowl. Beautiful patina. Burl knot on side. 1" hand lathe turned lip and markings. Approximately 5" deep. Chop marks in center bottom. Antique French Art Deco Burl Wood Tiger End Table Nightstand Cabinet w Shelf
I think this must be a French Art Deco nightstand or end table.medium color wood. Burled maple or tiger oak, one of the burly woods. It measures 25" tall, 20" wide and 11" deep. There are a couple chips in the wood at the edges and the finish is very dry. I have wiped it down with furniture oil to improve the appearance, though it will most likely dry and need to be done again. It could use refinishing in my opinion. Thanks for looking.

Undulating contours embody the sculptural essence of the tree. Exquisitely lovely wood was selected by the craftsman, then fashioned carefully to retain the undulating contours and hollows. This is an original Victorian stool which measures about 17-3/4" high. The top is about 13" square and the feet are about 14" square. end to end.
