All are individually hand carved with figural and landscape scenes and fit inside of each other. The large one and the medium one have a hinge and beautiful detailed clasps. the smaller one does not have a clasp or hinge. The large box has a crack by the hinge and has been repaired- the medium one has minor issues- small dings and cracks- the smaller one has 2 small cracks/wood damage near the inside left hinge. The largest box is apx 12" long by 6" tall. All have small dings and need a bit of hinge tightening etc. Natural dings in the wood/knot holes etc. Wonderful patina on these and just a fabulous find! 3 Antique Vtg Hand Carved Chinese Oriental Wood Nesting Boxes
Up for auction is a Nice set of THREE CARVED NESTING STORGE BOXES for your collectibles-jewelry-whatnots-or simply decor. They have an oriental-look design. They were found at auction so I don't know any history. Specific age, type of wood or country they were made in. I would describe them as being in generally good used condition. The smallest box is missing the bottom brass plate for the close-fastener. This is not real noticeable but not-the-less, it's gone. The smallest also has a split look in the bottom. This is my opinion is just a character flaw. I don't believe it is actually cracked through. The largest has a small crack on the bottom foot where the nail is. All boxes have a small crack where the top and side come together but this is consistent with them all. I believe just a natural character-imperfection of this ... moretype of box. see photos) They're overall nice pieces but I always try to be more critical in my descriptions and will not call something mint if it's not! Antique Wooden Box. Ace Spread on Top, Four Inner Boxes and Game Pieces, Whist Deck This antique wooden box features an ornately carved exterior with the Aces of Spades. Hearts and Diamonds on the top and the Ace of Clubs on the side. The box is well-made and opens to reveal four smaller wooden boxes with openwork sides holding a mixture of plastic and bone game pieces and one deck of Whist cards. Of the plastic pieces, there are: 10 long white rectangles. 5 short white rectangles. 10 white circles; 11 long green rectangles. 5 short green rectangles, 10 green circles; 9 long blue rectangles. 5 short blue rectangles, 9 blue circles; 9 long red rectangles. 5 short red rectangles, 9 red circles. Of the bone pieces, there are: 5 long white rectangles. 1 short white rectangle. 2 white circles. 1 long rectangle colored blue, 1 short rectangle colored ... moregreen, 3 long rectangles colored red, 2 short rectangles colored red, 2 circles colored blue, 1 circle colored red. The whist deck is labeled 53 Blade med Guldhjorner Whist Nr. 232. I think it was produced in the 1920's so I'd date the box around this time although it could be earlier. The whist deck has seen a lot of play and the cards have varying degrees of wear. There are 54 cards total. 52 standard cards plus one joker and one card with Piatnik's name. The box is torn. The outer box measures 5" x 10 3/8" x 2 3/4" The inner boxes measure 2" x 3 1/16" x 2 1/4" The whist cards measure 2 7/16" x 3 5/8" The total weight is just under 2 pounds. Thanks for looking. The late victorian black fan matched so well in colour I had to add it. I beleive the boxes to be from around the turn of century 18/1900. Made of wood. Smaller one(which fit perfectly into the other one) measure 11 inch. Fan also made in wood and covered with handpainted silk. 3 Sm Antique Primitive Tin& Brass Industrial Metal Storage Boxes Building Job What's not to love about these? They're old. They're packed with a PUNCH of industrial primitive charm, and they are totally useful! What I have are three small boxes that I do believe were once drawers. They are are made of tin, and have a fabulous age darkened patina mixed with spotty surface rust(surface only and very light) Each box is marked on the top- carved into the metal are the words, Building Job. Now, one has a white surface over it- I don't know if that's paint or? but it makes it much easier to read in my photos, but know that the others are totally legible too- they are just the color of the metal. One more thing to point out is I THINK that the little lip that the"Building Job" is carved into is actually brass or ... morecopper- with a reallyreallyreally dark patina, I can't be 100% sure as I have not messed with the patina in any way, but it has the color, and a magnet does not stick to that part(only, the rest is tin for sure) so supersize and see what you think. Each box is a matching size- 3" wide, 3 7/8" deep and 2 1/2" tall. Each one weighs 1/4 lb. They are in excellent solid and sturdy condition with some waving of the edges of the walls of the box very slightly this way or that, and a little bowing out at the bottom from holding something heavy at one point in time- not so much that they don't stand straight though. The sides/front may have been painted black at one time- it's really hard to tell if the dark on the edges is paint with wear, or just patina. They are very dirty/cob-webby and need a good cleaning, I have not cleaned them in any way. I can't decide how I like them best- stacked, flat or standing up- any way, you can't go wrong! U.S. Mailbox Pre 40's U.S. Mailbox. Unsure of maker. Standing around 4' tall this set consists of 8 tiers with 4 combination lock doors in each row. All doors are still locked except for one. There are 2 doors missing the small glass and as you can see from the pictures the bottom left is where the 2 doors are bowed a bit. the top right door is also and is the only door unlocked. The doors are brass and have all mechanics intact. This is an antique and shows its age a bit. Stack of 2 Early Antique Pantry Boxes Lamp Black Milk Paint
I painted and distressed the bottoms of this pair of pantry boxes with milk paint. Leaving the tops as is, then sealed all with matte varnish. 7" x 8" diameter, the smaller box has a bit of warp to the lid and the bottom has a slight wiggle, note the chip on the front. The larger box also has a small chip. With some minor scratches and corner wear on inner lip of boxes and the lacquer has seeped in to the wood grain. They are very interesting to me with the Hand Carved and detailed scenes of inlaid Mother of Pearl with a small Jade inlay in the top right corners of the lids. Two of which are square with Japanese writing. Going from smallest to largest. The Scenes include a Youth carrying a large Peach next to a Man riding a Deer, a Man holding a younger boy and Incense Burner, and an Adolescent with a Master holding a Scroll.
