Antique Wooden Letter Document Jewelry Boxes Early 1900's FOR REPAIR LOT
Very nice lot of old boxes that could have been for jewelry. Documents or letters etc. ALL of them need some repair or have some damage. I could only post 12 pictures so I tried to get pics of areas that I will mention. The first box has a picture of a couple that appear to be dressed in early 17 or 18th century style clothes, wigs ETC. This does not have glass covering it and the picture feels like it is a wooden litho. The top right hand corner of this box is broken. This is supposed to lift upwards and has a mirror on the inside. Somebody has put a hollow wooden space piece in it to keep the lid in place. Works for it's purpose but it does not match the box. This box measures APPROXIMATELY 8 1/4" x 10 1/2" the bottom) and stands about 2 1/4" tall. If you like shabby chic, you will love this box. The next box is missing ... morethe picture/mirror part but has the hinged frame and seems to work pretty well. The felt is coming off of the bottom but is still attached. Wood seems to be in good shape and I don't see any defects but with the intricate details, it's very easy to miss slight imperfections. The wood on this box is a lot lighter than the other box even though it is bigger! This one measures about 10 3/4" x 8 3/4" and stands about 3 1/4" tall. The last piece is just a lid to a box like these two. The picture of the baby is a 1932 copy of"Heaven's Gift" copyrighted by N. C. framed in this very shabby wooden frame with a mirror on the back side. Picture has water and dirt damage giving it a very primitive completely shabby look and the mirror is also dirty and I am not sure how it or if it can be cleaned up. The piece measures about 8" x 10" Great project for the expert wood worker to fix up. In great condition, these boxes sell for $80 to $100! Great lot for you to enjoy, resell or fix up.

One is approximately 15 inches X 4 inches X 2 inches and the other is approximately 7 inches X 7 inches X 3 inches. The square one has“HANDKERCHIEFS” imprinted on the top of the box. Both are fully hallmarked with the French Minerva head no.1 for 950/1000 and a maker's lozenge. Both boxes have floral decoration to the lids and a beaded edge. One box has a powder puff and a mirror to the interior of the lid. Both are in a good used condition with the odd tiny ding and little wear to the silver gilt. For sale we have a set of 5 Antique Chinese Pig Skin Boxes from according to my research the late 1800's except for the smallest one. I don't know when that was made. Possibly even earlier. These were hand crafted and hand painted. They all have brass hardware except for the small box. I decided to sell these as a collection rather than individually because they are all of the same theme except for the small one. The little one has a boy or man holding something in his hand on the top of the box, possibly a solid color flag and drinking a cup of tea on the front of the box. The small box has gold gilt on it. All the boxes are in very very good condition for the age that they are. They all have some paint missing and the large one inside the lid has a white mark. Some of them have some discoloration to the blue interiors but nothing ... moremajor. The one box the lid is completely detached. All the others the lids are just fine. They are all very sturdy and well made. The largest box has a brass lock and key. Antique hand painted ceramic birds/trinket boxes
Antique hand painted(naive style) ceramic birds. Circa 1900. The"dove" has some of the original gilt decoration still remaining on the wings. Size is just under 7" long. Almost 4" wide and 5" high. The duck measures about 6½" long. 3½" wide and under 4½" high. There is a nice crack in his underside but it looks as though it was there from the beginning. End of wing had broken off and needs to be re-glued. The porcelain has a few charming faults and the paint has splodged slightly(hand painted) No makers' marks. 1840

1880s Antique US Post Office Window, Mail Slots, Combination Boxes, Blenker, WI
DESCRIPTION: This is a rare piece of historical memorabilia from the post office in Blenker. WI. Blenker is an unincorporated community in the town of Milladore. Located in Wood County, WI. The item for sale includes 3 pieces of the top of the front post office counter that a patron would see as they entered the post office. The 3 pieces were fastened together and set on top of a counter or base. The largest piece includes the window where the postmaster would open the doors to conduct postal business. The window has bars above an opening at the counter. Above the window is a metal plaque that reads: US POST OFFICE. CORBIN CABINET LOCK CO. NEW BRITAIN, CONN. U.S.A. The company was established in 1882. Below the window is a mail slot for depositing mail. It looks like this is a larger newer replacement piece than what was originally on the ... morecabinet when it was made. On each side of the barred window are glass windows that cover 32 customer boxes. In the back. Below the window counter there is a money drawer. There is an envelope inside with 2 keys. The envelope is postmarked Blenker. WI. The keys fit in the lock on the drawer but they did not turn the lock. I believe they are the keys for the lock but I did not want to force it and possibly break the key. This large piece has the following approximate measurements: height- 47” Width- 48 ½” depth at top- 11 ½” depth below top section- 9 3/8” The counter at the window is 16” wide and 20 3/8” deep. The counter height is 16 ½” above the bottom. The second piece of the cabinet includes 8 metal and glass combination lock doors to small post office boxes. This piece has the following approximate measurements: height- 47” Width 5 ¼” depth at top- 11 ½” and depth below top- 9 3/8” The doors for the boxes are 3 ¾” wide by 4 7/8” tall. The third piece of the cabinet has 18 post office boxes. The bottle has it's original label, however it is dirty and has tattered edges and a few tears. The bottle is empty and has no cork. The box has a corrugated liner inside, is missing the box lid, and is just a little dirty, but very legible. The condition on both is fairly good. 2. Manola. A Reconstructive Tonic by The Manola Company, Saint Louis, USA: This is a brown glass bottle that measures 9 1/2" high. The bottle is empty and does not have a cork. These are both handpainted in what looks like old Dutch style flower designs with the larger box having two pink love birds? on the top. They are handmade. And handpainted. Both boxes have the arched trunk style lid, and both have keyed locks(sorry don't have the keys) They both have normal wear and the larger box has more wear to the paint than the smaller box. The larger chest measures: 10.25" inches wide by 6.25" inches front to back. And 5.5" inches tall. The smaller box measures: 7.5" inches across, 4.5" inches front to back and 4.25" inches tall. They appear to be primitive in nature. There are no marking so we are left with speculation as to the age of the pieces. Up for sale are 10 antique A/C spark plugs and 2 Wizard boxes. Not all the same style. These came from a collection I purchased. Looks to be in nice shape. 7 Antique Holly/Poinsettia Christmas Boxes, 1910-1920, Original, Hard-To-Find!
Included in this auction are 7 wonderful antique christmas boxes…at this time I prefer not to piece them out. These boxes are becoming harder and harder to find…I rarely see them any more. All are decorated with holly and/or poinsettias and date c. 1910-1920. The first box contains 20 early candles…all of which are in good condition with no breaks. The box and candles were issued by standard oil company. The box measures 4 7/8" by 3 3/8" by 1 1/4" deep…needs some repair to one end. As shown in the photos. The second box is decorated with large poinsettias and measures 5 1/4" by 4 1/4" by 2 1/4" deep. The top of the lid is lightly soiled from age and the edges are a little worn, but no splits or damage. The third box is decorated with holly and holly berries and is a nice shape…measures 6 5/8" by 2 1/2" ... moreby 2 1/4" deep. It has a bit of edge/corner wear, but no split corners. The top of the lid is lightly soiled(nothing serious) and there is an old home-made label glued to the lid with a name written on it. The fourth box is a hanky box and contains two hankies and two christmas tags! Both of the hankies are made of silk…one is patriotic with stars and stripes! The box is decorated with holly and measures 6 3/4" by 6 3/4" and is in very good condition. The fifth box is actually a neat early German ornament box…stamped Germany on one end. It is decorated with santas, angels, trees, and holly branches. It has stapled corners…three corners on the lid need repair. Inside are six original early German mercury ornaments with tin caps. The box measures 8 3/4" by 6 5/8" by 2 1/4" deep. The sixth box is actually dated: Patents June 9, 1908, July 5, 1910. It originally held a gray muffler…the lid is decorated with a lady in a wide-brimmed hat with a large red poinsettia! The second one is an antique gilded hand painted religious wooden box. the hinge hardware looks to be c1890 and the laid on hand painted card on the top is a classic religious scene. All in good vintage condition, several have stains and there is a crack on bottom of perfume that does not show when sitting up, other than this, no cracks. chips or warping. Stains can be seen in pictures. Boxes are app. 4 1/4" 4 3/4" and 5" at widest. Perfume is app. 4" tall by 2 1/2"wide and frame is app. 8" tall by 6 1/4" wide. IT IS OF A QUALITY ONE RARELY ENCOUNTERS. IT IS ALL ORIGINAL AND THE RICH WALNUT WOOD IS EXQUISITELY BEAUTIFUL. THE DRAWERS FEATURE DOVE-TAIL JOINTS, FIT WELL, SLIDE SMOOTHLY AND THE PIECE IS QUITE SOLID. IT STANDS 79 INCHES TALL TO THE TOP OF THE MIRROR FINIAL AND IS 41 INCHES WIDE BY 18.5 INCHES DEEP. FROM THE FLOOR TO THE TOP OF THE DRESSER SURFACE IS 32.5 INCHES. THE GLOVE BOXES ARE 11 X 7 X 2 INCHES AND THE TOP DRAWER IS 33 X 14.25 X 6 INCHES. THE OTHER TWO DRAWERS ARE 33 X 14 X 7 INCHES. THE SURFACE OF THE MIRROR IS 14.25 X 25.5 INCHES. THE DRAWER PULLS ARE VERY ORNATE AND QUITE UNUSUAL. Two drawers over two, very large drawers. At top a very unusual feature on a chest of drawers is a beautiful etched mirror with the glove boxes on each side. The mirror does have some loss of silver in a couple of places and piece has scratches and scrapes due to an antique piece expected with wear and age. Has matching bed and vanity listed separately on eBay. Walnut. Measures 37.5 inches wide, 18.5 inches deep and 75.25 inches tall in back to top of mirror, 54.25 inches tall in front. Up for bid is a pair of wooden candy boxes from around the 1900's. These are from the Cascade Series they did with pictures of various places in the Northwest. 1. Kincade, in the bottom left corner(I'm assuming this was the photographer) In pretty good condition for its age: some scuffing and some wear around the picture edges.
