The parts are made of solid, heavy, thick, cast iron. Please note that the color of the parts is actually a dark gray color(gunsmoke" Due to the lighting. The parts appear lighter in color and brighter in the photos. The locks and keepers were salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. At the point of salvage they were found dirty. Painted, and very rusty(see last photo) We cleaned and polished each part, allowing the true beauty of the design to show forth. There is still a bit of rust, but that only adds to their great, aged look. The condition of the locks and keepers is as remarkable as their beauty! There no breaks. Bends, cracks, chips, or dents.
