Vintage, casement window stays salvaged from the windows of a former cream production plant(see last photos) in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The plant was built during the 1890's, however, these most likely replaced the originals sometime during the middle of the previous century. Each stay is made of solid steel. And was originally brass plated. Much of the plating wore off over the years leaving them with a nice, distressed finish. The amount of plating varies from part to part(see"Group photos" to compare) If you are not familiar with this type of hardware. It keeps the window open at a specified distance from the sill. When you wish to open the window, loosen the knob by simply turning it in a counter clockwise direction. Open the window as far as you like, and once you wish to lock it in place, simply turn the knob clockwise until can't turn anymore. This will prevent wind from moving the window. At the point of salvage. The stays were painted, dirty, and rusty(see"Prior to restoration" photo) Since then, we've spent hours removing the paint, cleaning the dirt and rust from the outside of each stay, and greasing them to facilitate their movement. All stays are in great shape with no breaks. Cracks, deep scratches, or gouges. All moveable parts move smoothly. The master box is falling apart and although is in the picture it is not included just pictured it to show the information on it. The base of the lock is approximatley 1 7/8" x 1 1/8" and the keeper is approximately 2 1/2" x 3/4" and the handle turn is approximately 2" long. Vintage Set of 6 Brass Casement Fastners: New Old Stock
These solid brass casement fastners are not all that common. Especially those from new old stock. They are a great throwback to the early 20th century, as well as to quite a few"film noir" scenes. They also may be useful with some"modern" designs that are influenced by earlier fixures. As can be seen from the picture, the set includes all of the original screws. The"loop" piece screw plate(4 screws) is approx. 1 3/4" in length x 1" in width. The locking plate is approx. 2 1/4" in length x 3/4" in width. The loop piece itself can rotate on its base to allow placement of the screws.

They are found in good used condition, are metal and attract a magnet. This hardware is brass platted or finished and retains quite a bit of its off white painted surface. They measure approximately 9 1/2" in size. The paint should be easily stripped off if not needed. Great for any steampunk style project as well. We are a 141 years old family run hardware store. And we found these when looking at stock we haven't examined in many decades. The actual pivoting fastener(Brass) is 1 3/4" in length, while the plate(steel) is approx. 2 1/4" All of the original screws are included, which helps since each piece takes a different toned screw. These are fairly heavy for their size and appear to be well made. A couple of the pivot points are a little sticky. They do have wear from age and use. Antique Vintage Brass Casement Window Sash Hook Swing Arm Lock Black Handle Door
As a vintage and antique hardware nerd. I am really not even sure how to describe these, I just know that I love them! It seems that they were originally designed to be used to latch a casement type window. They are brass with black coated handles. The black substance appears to be rubber. But I can't really tell, it is hard and shiny almost like bakelite or some form of heavy rubberized plastic. The end forms a hook that would keep a brass bar from being raised on an antique casement window. I also think that it could be used as a door latch. Or something to keep a chest or antique type freezer closed. Please note that one is left facing and one is right facing if they are both to be latched facing downward. Vintage, casement window stays salvaged from the windows of a former cream production plant(see last photos) in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The plant was built during the 1890's, however, these most likely replaced the originals sometime during the middle of the previous century. Each stay is made of solid steel. And was originally brass plated. Much of the plating wore off over the years leaving them with a nice, distressed finish. It keeps the window open at a specified distance from the sill. When you wish to open the window, loosen the knob by simply turning it in a counter clockwise direction. Open the window as far as you like, and once you wish to lock it in place, simply turn the knob clockwise until can't turn anymore. This will prevent wind from moving the window. At the point of salvage. The stays were painted, dirty, and rusty(see"Prior to restoration" photo) Since then, we've spent hours removing the paint, cleaning the dirt and rust from the outside of each stay, and greasing them to facilitate their movement. All stays are in great shape with no breaks. Cracks, deep scratches, or gouges. All moveable parts move smoothly. A vintage brass stay for traditional casement windows. This is made of two arms. Which you attach by screwing the end plates into the wooden window surround and the frame. The two arms form an angle. And are linked by a central screw knob. You loosen the knob to adjust the angle. And tighten it to lock the window in place(open or closed) The arms are marked PATENT. But there is no maker's name. You will need 4 screws to fix the stay to the window and frame(these screws are NOT supplied) The stay measures about 11 inches(28 cm) from end to end when fully open. Weight 260g approx. Lot Of 8 Vintage Used Brass 10" Window Casement Adjusters With Screws
With some brass loss. A little rust, and white paint on two hinges, as shown in photos. Found in a badly torn box labeled SARGENT IRON CASEMENT ADJUSTERS OB64 10 IN. Length of the arms: one with the four hole is 8 inches long. One with two hole is 7 inches long. Size of the plate that screws into the window and casement: 4 hole one is 2-1/2" by 1-1/4" the two hole one is 2-1/8"by 3/4" There is paint. Surface rust, scratches are present to the hinges. One wing nut works just fine and the other is stiff. I worked it loss with a pair of pliers it just needs cleaned up and it will work just fine. They are made out of metal. Magnet sticks to them. They were used mostly in basements or commercial buildings windows mostly wooden frame ones. They are a heavy duty hinge. Look at the pictures closely to see the condition of the hinges.
