This is a superb specimen in amazing condition with a dovetailed table box and pegged joinery. These particular pieces are hard to place a regionalism on as to where exactly they were crafted in the 18th century New England. We believe it to be from the South Shore of Massachusetts. It has original brasses and pure structural integrity with a molded drawer face. This is an extremely choice period Pembroke. The only thing we can see is a previous owner placed some picture hanging wires to pull out its leaves support braces that telescope out of the table's frame. We'll replace these with some more attractive pulls befitting this superior piece. It is 31" long. 21" wide, 38 1/2" with its leaves locked up and its 28 1/4" tall. Powered by: Summary This is a superb Scottish original 18th century 8 day twin fusee verge figured mahogany bracket clock with a superb proportioned pad top case and awesome movement all original with a beautiful original rare painted dial and original movement. CIRCA- 1770. Case The clock has a superb pad top design with brass handle to top standing elegantly on 4 brass bracket feet The case benefits from fretted pierced brass sides with original red silk material behind them with a glazed hinged full length front door which opens to reveal the circular painted dial and wooden mask surround. The case also benefits from a hinged glazed back door protecting the movement through which the finely engraved backplate can be seen. The case is in excellent original condition for age all original with no sign of woodworm past or present with a perfect ... morepatina and colour to the figured mahogany and with its original fine finish to it. All fretted panels are also in great condition with no damage and are very finely fretted with original brass handle to top, original hinges to doors and original bracket feet. The red silk has some age wear to it but they are original and they have no damage to them just some light discolouring. Both the front and back doors have their original locks present but no key's but can easily be sourced and they still open close and stay shut perfectly. Here is a delightful mid-century vintage English flame mahogany liquor cabinet in very nice condition. With upper and lower cabinets and a pullout glass cocktail mixing shelf that extends 10 1/2 beyond the front of the piece when extended. This lovely cabinet stands 57 1/4 inches tall by 29 1/4 inches wide by 15 1/4 inches deep. The top cabinet measures 26 inches wide by 13 inches front to back by 26 1/2 inches tall and is divided in two by one removable glass shelf 22 1/4 inches long by 9 inches front to back. The bottom cabinet is 29 inches wide by 14 inches front to back by 20 inches tall and is dived in half by a shelf as well, with 7 1/2 inches above the top shelf and 13 inches clearance above the lower shelf. This terrific little cupboard offers great storage in a lovely wood cabinet, whether used as a liquor cabinet or not. This is a beautiful. Crotch mahogany game table. It is diminutive in size at 29.5" H x 30" W x 17" deep and really fits anywhere. The legs are graceful and ornately carved. Flame mahogany library reading table circa 1840
Stunning late Georgian/ early Victorian(circa 1825- 1840) Library quartet reading stand in flame mahogany. Beautiful french polished finish with the usual marks of age here and there- see photos. The book holding ledges pull out and store inside if you want to use this as a completely flat topped side table and they simply push back in to hold books when the leaves are raised. Each of the four leaves can be raised or lowered independently. Has a carved lion head at one end and a carved claw foot. Lift mechanism still works though almost two centuries of use mean that it's a bit stiff to use and slightly wobbly when it's in the raised position. Looks better down anyway and far less strain on the mechanism to use it that way! One advantage of this early two strut design is that when down. It's very solid and will support heavy objects ... moresuch as lamps sculptures etc without bowing) A few long dead woodworm holes in the round softwood piece that attaches the table section to the lift shaft(see last photo) but none elsewhere. Couple of splits in the wooden base of the drawer section due to contraction with age and a similar split in one of the top sections that has been polished over. one of the end scrolls on the top of the front leg is also missing- see picture 9. And that's absolutely all the faults- very few for a piece of this age! Fantastic piece of old library furniture. Inspection very welcome in South Canberra Pick up in Canberra or I will work with a courier to ship interstate. Removalist would probably charge about $200-$400 to transport this to eastern Australia If you want to get a bit of an idea of what something like this is really worth. Hello! I have a really pretty Antique Empire sofa for sale! From my research. I think this sofa dates between 1840-1860. It measures 80 in. Long, 22 in. Wide, and 36 in. Tall. As per previous owner, the sofa originally came from savannah georgia. The sofa still retains its original horse hair stuffing which is covered in a navy blue material. CIRCA 1870'S ANTIQUE FLAME MAHOGANY SIDEBOARD CABINET STYLE OF ADAM REVIVAL
Here is an absolutely spectacular find from an old Charleston family estate auction and in very nice condition for it's age. a circa 1870's in the Style of Adams Revival(part of the Regency Revival movement from 1880 to 1920) when the expanding middle class became attracted to the light and elegant designs. As a contrast to the heavier and more cluttered interiors which had dominated their homes during the second half of the 19th century. Typical of Style of Adam pieces, this sideboard has Classical Roman decorative motifs, such as framed medallions, urns and floral swags. This delightful sideboard incorporated beautiful flame mahogany and crotch mahogany veneers into the absolutely perfect mantle across the back and the front door panels. I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design, ... morequality, condition, construction and overall beauty of this special old piece but pictures just don't do it justice. layaway available on any of my listings should anyone have an interest in that. up for auction is the nicest empire vanity i have seen in all the years i have been messing with antiques. i bought this not long ago and have it in my dining room as there is no where else to put it in my 20 room house. i have another one in a bedroom upstairs that i will list shortly. hopefully it will sell and not this one as i want to actually keep this one. anyway. I have seen a dozen or so of these, but none this nice. it is serpentine, heavily carved mirror harp, pedestal, feet and wings, along with carved roping surrounding the vanity top. the mirror shows some fog, which does not bother me, i can have that corrected for about 100.00 should someone want that accomplished. it is free from damage or repairs as far as i can ascertain. i think the knobs on ... morethe two serpentine drawers are original as well. this is a wonderful empire piece made around 1860 or so i think out of the most wonderful flame mahogany as you will find. the piece has wonderful patina and is gorgeous. the pictures do not do it justice. it stands 49.5 to the top of the mirror, it is about 30 inches to the vanity top and 22 inches deep at the widest point of the serpentine top. it is 44 inches wide at the back of the top and 38 inches wide at the front of the top. shipping will be the buyers responsibility. you may arrange a carrier, or i will do it for you, or you may pick it up at my home. if the carrier requires a crate, i will build it for the cost of the material and will not charge any labor. the material will cost about 50.00 for the crate, if required. i need to sell one of these vanities, don't have room for both. i am starting this at probably all it is worth, but if you want the best, this is for you! i bought it because it was the nicest one i have seen in years and years. i doubt you can find another one like it, and if so, it will be expensive. i will be glad to answer any questions or supply other pictures upon request. good luck
