Each drop leaf is one board. the table has slide mechanism to hold the drop leafs up. they work well and are of wonderful design and construction this is a very early piece and is all original as far as i know. it is very sturdy. I was told this is a tea table. It has a tilt-top or drop leaf. When the table top is raised it locks into place. It shows wear from years of use and has a nice patina. I don't see any damage or repairs. It is marked Mahogany and I think the maker's label or store label says T ENN for Tennessee(see photos) What I really like about this table is that it has a cross bar at the top for carrying. Pembroke type occasional table is mahogany with a shapely curved top over one drawer and unadorned legs of a George III style. Perhaps a Hepplewhite pattern. Curved reed edge detail on the top. S light nick here on the left side. And the top surface is done in a French polish. Square tapered legs. Single drawer has keyhole joint construction(similar to a french dovetail joint) and a brass plate"Clinton Shops Guaranteed Furniture" embedded on the right side. Drawer glides smoothly. Hinges and the side supports for the drop sides move well. No breaks. I note a bit of dried up hide glue at one rear corner. The hinges are well aligned and the screws appear old(irregular threads) The color is difficult to show in the photos and can best be described as dark reddish brown.
