I can tell that it's made of oak, the carving is very well executed, and the table is overall in very good condition. Size- it's diminutive. Just 24" in height, 21" wide at large side of oval, 18.5" at small side of oval. When closed, table is just 6.5" across, so closed size is 18" x 6.5" I believe that the table has it's original finish; I've kept the table in a quiet corner of the house. And have oiled it a couple of times(with orange oil) while in possession. There is a'patch' on one of the'leaves' where it split some time ago. The split is visible on the table top- but in my view does not take anything way. On the underside of the table two metal straps were added for support. Antique mahogany dining table with drop leafs and gate legs. There is no maker's mark. But I believe it is from the 1940s. Two standard size side chairs can slide underneath on the ends with leafs down. With both leafs up it can seat 8 comfortably, 10 possible. There is one watermark on a leaf(see pic 4) And the top of one leg has some splitting that needs repairing(see last pic) Other than that there are some light scuffs and scratches, normal for a table of this age. I have a full set of custom table pads that will be included. Antique petite size oak barley twist legs table. The table is a gate leg style with two oval drop leaf sides. The table measures about 28" tall x 30" wide. Each leaf is about 13 3/4" Fully opened the table measures about 41" X 30" x 28" closed the table is 14 1/2" x 30" x 28" tall. The table may be used with one leaf or two leaves or fully open. The finish appears to be original and has been lightly cleaned with one hand rubbed coat of clear shellac. The top is lighter than the twist legs due to use. There are light scratches and wear from age and use; overall very good vintage condition. This smaller size table is ideal for a breakfast area. Hello up for auction is this great large#15 gal Cauldron it is in perfect working condition. I got the first two coats of seasoning on it. I used Crisco to start the seasoning process. Unusual small"petite" size drop leaf gate leg table with scalloped edges. The table has turned barley twist legs. The oak table measures about 28" tall. With both leaves in the closed position the table is 11 1/2" x 24" x 28" tall. Each leaf is about is about 11 1/4" With both leaves open the table measures 35" x 24" x 28" tall. The top of the table is quarter sawn tiger oak. The original finish has been top coated with hand rubbed shellac. The top has been restored. Shellac has been applied too the top along with hand rubbed and polished paste wax. The table is in very good pre-owned antique condition. There are normal signs of use and age; beautiful rich patina. The size is excellent when used as a dinning or breakfast table. Excellent for a home. Apartment or loft. Antique/Vintage Georgian Style Drop Leaf Gate Leg Table w/ Turned legs Mahogany
For your consideration is this classic gate leg table. It is probably English. Turn of last century, and is solid mahogany. The top has a wonderful ribbon graining. And it is versatile as well as beautiful. With a height of 30" it can function as a dining table, a desk, a sofa table or even an end table. It can be compact(13" x 30" x 30"high in its closed position) or largish(30" x 42" x 30"high fully open. If you look at the last photo, you'll see how I used it next to a sofa in a very eclectic design. It was professionally refinished several years ago. And does show some signs of age, but overall is in beautiful condition with very minimal scratches or dings. It does have one dent on the top(about the size of a penny) that I attempted to photograph(see next to last photo.
