Library Table - Wood & Naugahyde & Large Brass Tacks - Medieval Steampunk Desk
Unique library table. Wood base with a Naugahyde-covered top attached with large brass tacks. Measures approximately 55" long x 34-1/2" wide x 28-1/2" high. The table is heavy and solidly built. I would guess that it was made in the 40's and had the cover added or replaced in the 70's. There is a name written on the bottom with the year 1977. But there is also a much older small piece of a tag affixed to the bottom of the table with the same nails used for the pleather. The underside of the top is plywood, and the legs and stretchers appear to be solid wood, possibly walnut. I don't know what the top looks like beneath the naugahyde. The finish is worn on the base, for the most part consistently but with a few scratches here and there, I imagine with a little bit of stain the wear spots and scratches could be cleaned ... moreup. The top is overall in good condition but with two small punctures. A small tear along the edge, ink transfer in a 3x5 area, and a general patina of scuffs/scratches/etc. I wiped the top down with soap and water, but I didn't try to clean it using any harsher cleaners or anything to hide the scufffs- I'm sure you could do something if you wanted to, but I actually think it looks great as-is. This can be seen in Westborough MA any day/evening this week except Thursday before 4pm- please send me an email through ebay if you'd like to set up a time. Local pick-up. There are some small scratches and scuffs on the legs but nothing that takes away from the beauty of the piece. This table has princess Ann style legs and a nice curve coming out from the table top. I believe the table is walnut but I am not absolutely certain. Unique Tiger (Curly) Maple Library Table Desk with Ornate Design
What you are looking at is a beautiful piece of furniture. Highly valued tiger maple. Also known as curly maple and flame maple. Tiger maple is a mysterious hardwood with a distinctive wavy pattern that resembles tiger stripes. The design work is absolutely amazing. Take a look at those legs. You won't find anything like it available for sale. It measures 42" long x 32" wide x 28" tall. The top is made up of two planks that are shaped in a neat design as well(not just rectangular) There is normal wear. You will find scratches because it's been used. It's not perfect but trust me that's what makes it great and invaluable as time passes. People who take furniture and refurnish it only ruin it. The value of it being an antique is gone when you do that to furniture. I want to be completely honest with people. I noticed there is a very small gap forming between the two top planks on one side. And on the same side the legs appear to have been fractured. I can only guess what happened. I don't know. However. It's not noticeable unless you are looking for it because I didn't notice it when I bought it. The one fracture actually looks pretty cool(squiggle line) I took photos of it. Please take a look.
