Exemplary Federal Dresser--Cherry & Flame Mahogany Veneer
This is a really wonderful piece-solid cherry on top and sides. With flame mahogany veneer on the drawers, thick brass circular hardware(typifying the Federal period) and really great carvings at the bottom, finishing off with scrolled feet. There is minor nicking to the veneer. Other than that, it is in amazing condition. The drawers are smooth and the wood is beautiful. Looks like it was refinished a while back. Very, very heavy, which makes sense because it is made of two heavy hardwoods. Lots of color and a beautiful patina. 43" tall x 21 3/4" deep x 42 3/4" wide. Here on offer we have a good french mahogany marble topped console table dating to the latter part of the 19th century. This pretty table has a grey veined marble top over a blind frieze drawer raised on ornate cabriole legs with undertier. The drawer is oak lined and comes in original condition with no later handle. The table is in good condition with the only worthy note being a repair to the marble we have photographed. But this has been professionally done and is barely noticeable and has also been dovetailed in underneath so very strong. OLD Antique Flame Mahogany American Games Table 18th C on Mid Century Base
This is a marriage of a very old beautiful table top and mid century base and legs. The top of table is amazing. It believe it is flame mahogany. There was some type of apron around the bottom edge that has been removed. As you can see there is a huge patina difference where it was. The bottom of table has never been stained. There is a mid century base that has been added to make it a coffee table height. I am not a furniture expert. But I estimate the table top to be 18th or early 19th C. The base and legs are 1950's or 60's. Table is about 35 inches across. I think it is just two mirror image boards. There is a partial age crack that is lighter colored on the bottom, but It does not go all the way across.You can't see it at all on the top. The table is in very good to excellent condition with some minor wear as shown. I have ... moretaken several close ups for your consideration. There are also a couple of small knots in the bottom of table. They are not on the top. I see no shadow of where a base would have been in the middle. This is a mystery table.Very interesting! First. The pictures do not do justice to the beautiful piece of work. It's a Flame Mahogany Writing Desk with overhead 2-Door bookcase and single Drawer below. This piece was estimated to have been made in the 1800's and is in remarkable condition. The inside 2 drawers are hand dove-tailed. The bottom wide drawer is hand dove-tailed as well. The bead work along the front doors and along the top is in excellent condition and beautifully done. This great piece of furniture hows signs of age as you can see in the close up picture of the zipper-like crackle in the veneer, but, there is no separation. The desk measures 80" at the peak and is 39" wide and is mounted on 4 turned legs. The depth at the top is 11" and is 18-1/2" for the drawer section. This terrific sofa has beautiful flame mahogany veneer on both the serpentine top and the bottom front rail and stands on it's original casters. This sofa measures 84 inches or 7 feet long and stands 33 inches tall to the highest point on the top rail and 27 inches front to back. The seat height is 16 inches and the arm height 24 inches. A very special piece! My mother has moved from the family home to a much smaller condo and sadly doesn't have room for several family treasures. This flame mahogany American Empire-style dresser. Estimated to have been made in the 1850s, is gorgeous. The dresser's mirror-image crotch-grain mahogany is absolutely beautiful, a hallmark of quality in fine furniture construction. The curved front is lovely, as are the carved backboard and skirt. The finish on the front, sides, and top is glossy; the back is unfinished. All six drawers work perfectly and are outfitted with mushroom-turned wooden knobs. It has 6 obvious drawers and 7 hidden compartments(2 of which we didn't find for a year) It has been on display in my house for 40 years. It has a perfect leather top, some marquetry. I am happy to offer a wonderful very old. Late 1700's, early 1800's, tilt top table made of solid flame mahogany. The top was made in the shape of a tortoise shell(this was done in England when being brought to the colonies) and was originally adopted from the shipping lane to the islands. I seen these tables in Barbados 24 years ago. It is the first time I found one here in the northeast. The estate I received it from was from a fine collector that traveled worldwide buying their furnishings. FIRST. The table is in excellent condition with no major. Nor could I see minor.repairs. The lovely column is handcarved as well as the padded feet. It is all solid mahogany. The table top is amazingly beautiful, being made of solid flame mahogany, no veneers and of one board. The galley edge is handcarved as well and"PEGGED" construction ... moreto the ornate edge. See the pictures. The back has the original early latch and lock setup. Nothing has been added or subtracted from this table. The design in the table is extrodinary and beautiful. Good and sturdy, this table can be used and enjoyed to its max. The table measures when tilted open. 43 1/2" high. When in use and locked, it measures 28 1/2" from the floor and the top from north to south and east to west is a true 28 3/4" each way. Fine craftsmen carved the acanthus leaves and delightful ornate tripod with the true pad feet giving it a good square solid fit to the floor, making it safe and not tipsy. A very special piece! This flame mahogany American Empire-style dresser. Estimated to have been made in the 1850s, is gorgeous. The dresser's mirror-image crotch-grain mahogany is absolutely beautiful. A hallmark of quality in fine furniture construction. The curved front is lovely. As are the carved backboard and skirt. The finish on the front. Sides, and top is glossy; the back is unfinished. All six drawers work perfectly and are outfitted with mushroom-turned wooden knobs. My parents originally purchased this dresser from an antiques dealer in upstate New York and it's been in their smoke-free household for more than 50 years. No maker's mark is evident. It is in very good condition with some nicks. Scratches, etc. that are visible in photos. Its styling detals indicate that it originated in the Netherlands or possibly Belgium. The exposed woodwork is a mix of solid mahogany and mahogany veneer. It has a recent professionally done restoration and it is in excellent antique/restored condition. All parts are straight and solid and fit together as they should. The doors open and close smoothly. There is no indication that major repairs were done during restoration-it is all old. Original wood with no woodworm or dry rot and also all old, original hardware. Vintage full-flame Mahogany buffet/server made by Drexel for the Wallace Nutting Furniture Treasury collection. According to logo. This piece dates before 1968. Buffet has gorgeous inlaid design on both front-side of delicate bell flowers with a drop-twist and dot feature below as well as the same golden color edge trim around top-edge. Buffet has a serpentine drawer front with a bowed locking cabinet on each side. Key is included. Buffet rolls on 4 caster wheels. Top side flatware drawers. One on each side are felt lined and divided with a removable felt cover with leather pull tabs. Buffet is marked in drawer with the Drexel(pre-Drexel Heritage) logo on one side and a satin label"Wallace Nutting Furniture Treasury" ... moreon the other. Drexel Heritage was established in or near 1968. Buffet does have many small flaws that attribute to the affordable asking price. Please note- even with flaws. Buffet displays beautifully. Condition issues: two pieces of missing golden under-edge trim on front near center. Pieces are included. But has not been repaired. Repair to edge veneer right side. Small cracks in edge veneer. Small piece of veneer missing alongside a repair to veneer on base edge on left. Top surface shows small areas of wear to finish color as well as some deeper scratches and nicks.
