Beautiful Chinese Cinnabar box with excellent workmanship and great detail. The front of the box is decorated with mountains. T rees. And travelers. The detail is great and the box is very well made. Gorgeous flowers decorated all the sides of the box. The entire box is hand carved and the age of the box is early 20 th Century and marked CHINA on the back. The mark is an early mark and genuine. For its age it is in great condition with some minor age ware on the cinnabar but nothing major. The length of the box is almost 5 ½ inches and height is 2 ¼ inches and depth is about 3 ¼ inches. ITEM DESCRIPTION This auction is for a very fine quality pair of antique silver fish cruets. The are usually described as Chinese or Oriental in origin. They are lovely quality. Each part of the body is jointed allowing the body to move as if it were a real fish. One has green glass or stone eyes the other has red. They are each stamped to the fin with two different marks. Measuring 9cm long. One is excellent. The other is undamaged but needs cleaning as the salt has oxidised to the exterior leaving some surface residue and discolouration which will need professionally cleaning away. Stunning pieces. Antique Late 19thC Qing Dynasty Chinese Finely Floral Embroidered Silk Robe Up for bids is this antique Late 19thC Chinese Floral Embroidered Silk Robe in great condition. It was made during the Qing Dynasty between the mid to late 19thC. The embroidery work is exquisite with fine attention to detail and is done to show depth so that it looks 3 dimensional. There are brightly colored lotus flowers and other flowers in shades of orange. Blue, pink, and green on a black background that is also decorated with a Chinese decoration. The sleeves are also finely embroidered with similar colors which are more neutral. The sleeves depict people around flowering trees. Above the sleeves are 2 seperate borders one which has similar colors as the sleeve panels and the other is decorated with flowers in different tones of blue. The robe is held together ... morein the front with 2 cloth frog closures(one is missing) with 3 buttons that look like they are gold filled or brass. Condition is very. Very good with a no rips, tears, or missing thread. There are a few very small light stains to the sleeves that are so light that they could not even be photographed. They are very very minor and hard to notice. This auction is for an authentic late 19th century Chinese robe. It is green damasked silk with an embroidered curvilinear yoke and edging; extensive floral and butterfly's are embroidered on cream colored silk. The wide cuffs fold back to show beautiful gold and silver thread embroidery of Chinese figures in pastoral scenes. The embroidery on the figures is in great detail. Five carved brass buttons and loop closures decorate the robe. It is lined with a coral silk and has kimono sleeves with exaggerated turn back cuffs. The sleeve span measured across the shoulders measures 62" The total length from the back of the neck is 39 1/2" The condition is very good for its age. The mandarin collar has one row of braid that is very worn. The loop on the right side needs resewing. The lining has faded places and is worn along the center ... moreseam. Framed Chinese forbidden stitch embroidery panel measures 16 3/4" by 11 3/4" The panel alone measures 13 1/4" by 8" and is set against a silk background. There are some symbols present along with the flower. I believe the lower left symbol represents the wheel of the law and the two rings on the upper right represent money. The other symbols I don't recognize. The panel and frame both are in very good condition but the panel needs to be reset at the bottom as it's become a little crooked. This is some type of oriental measure. I assume for gold or other small items. It is in a solid wood case shaped like a fiddle. The case is almost 14" long. It is attached at the narrow end by a brass( connector. It has a woven reed piece that can be pushed to the large end to hold the case closed but pushed to the narrow end to open the case. Inside the case is a small 2 3/4" diameter bowl that appears to be made of brass. It fits into a carved section. There is another smaller carved section inside the case that is 1" in diameter. I assume there was an item in that indention but I do not know what it was. Also inside is a 12" removable long narrow measure that has small placed tics on it. I do not know what this is made of. At one end is string with miniature tassels. On the outside of the case is an oriental design ... morethat may be a signature. It is written in black and is very faint. An antique solid silver& enamel oriental vase. I cannot determine if this is vase is Chinese or Japanese Meiji period. A highly decorative vase with cloisonne type decoration. Very detailed applied sliver wire work with enamel infill. There are some features that would suggest Chinese in origin, although the flowers are very similar to decoration on japanese pottery. Clearly a very expensive vase to make and decorate. Please see all 12 photos. Some denting and loss of enamel, but well worthy of restoration and a relatively easy job for a silversmith. Finally he found all coins are not made of silver, which means these are not original coins. However he still kept them and I inherit them. Chinese silver coin history: The Republic of China was founded after the Xinhai Revolution toppled the Qing Dynasty. The Nanjing Provisional Government urgently needed to issue military currency for use in place of the previous Qing currency. Successively. Each province declared independence from the Qing and issued their own military currency. In 1914, the National Currency Ordinance established the Silver Dollar as the nationalcurrency of the Republic of China. Although designs changed compared with Imperial era coins, the sizes and metals used ... morein the coinage remained mostly unchanged until the 1930s. The majority of regional mints closed during the 1920s and 1930s, although some continued until 1949. From 1936, the central government issued copper ½, 1 and 2 fen coins, nickel(later cupro-nickel) 5, 10 and 20 fen and ½ yuan coins. Aluminium 1 and 5 fen pieces were issued in 1940. Chinese: 圓. Literally"roundness" was officially announced as the standard monetary unit. The yuan was subdivided into 10 jiao or 100 fen, and specified as 0.72 tael of 900 fineness silver. The next year, 1911, the so-called"Great Qing Silver Coin" one yuan(dollar) was issued, but soon after the dynasty was replaced by the Republic. The hand painted Family Scene, is very well painted and quite intricate in the details, with two pampered children riding"Tame ShiShi" The colors are exquisite in shades of green and pink. The tea caddy illustrated shows many of the characteristics of blue and white porcelain produced during the Kangxi period. The translucent body showing through the clear glaze is of great whiteness and the cobalt decoration. Applied in many layers, has a fine blue hue. This rare and unusual design is truly unique and a stand-out. Bottom features two double blue rings which are the Imperial mark.
