For your consideration is a Stunning Antique/Vintage Japanese Porcelain Imari Pedestal! It is a really beautiful piece. Very highly decorated and gilt. I don't know the exact age, but based on the color in the few chips along the top rim and the color of the base, it appears to have some very good age! It is completely unsigned that I can see, so I don't know for certain if it's Japanese or Chinese. It measures 19" in overall height. 7 1/2" in diameter at the top and 8 1/2" at the base. There are a few chips along the top edge as shown in the closeups, but the rest of the piece looks great! Please see my photographs and consider them as part of the description. ANTIQUE MID 18th C. CHINESE MUG-EARTHENWARE W/ WHITE GLAZE & PAINTED ENAMELS
This gracefully designed large mug measures 3 3/4" 9.6 cm) in height and 3 1/2" 8.9 cm) in diameter. It is very heavy for its size. As it is made of earthenware. On the bottom of the mug is a very faint red mark, but there are no kiln marks, which is a classic trait of Chinese wares. On one side of the mug there are 15 black Chinese letters(characters) and one red square mark at the lower left of the writing. The other side of the mug depicts a woman holding a flower surrounded by rocks, a bridge, flowers and there is a cherry tree behind her. All the hand painted over enamels are just lovely. The white, thick glaze has tiny areas where the earthenware shows through. You can see three small areas on the bottom and several places inside where the glaze has"pulled away" during firing in a kiln. This is not damage, but is ... morerather a quite normal occurrence with this type of glaze. The glaze has a slight"orange peel" appearance, which is also a trait of Chinese products. The handle is an oval with a tail design and a flattened top to accommodate the thumb. A green colored glaze, pooled near the handle is visible. This trait was also done with Worcheshire and Leeds English porcelain pieces, however, this mug is definitely not English. I saw similar mug produced byWorchester from 1760, copying the early Chinese export wares. The design was similar, but was on porcelain and the handle was different. In the mid 18th century, the English were copying the early Chinese stuff they were seeing. The earlier Chinese wares are more favored because of their simplicity and large areas with no design. By the late 18th century Chinese wares for export to the European market were adorned with more intricate designs that covered entire piece. This mug would have been made in what is known as the Qianlong Period(1736-1795) and probably in the middle of the period around 1750. ANTIQUE CHINESE PARTIALLY GLAZED POT
This antique Chinese six sided partially glazed pot was found in an antique trunk that belonged to Edward Carrington of Providence. Rhode Island. Edward Carrington(1775-1843) was a China Trade merchent that lived in Canton from 1802 to 1810, serving as the American Consul, acting as an agent for other American merchants and amassing a considerable fortune by trading on his own behalf. He returned to Providence in 1811 where he continued to invest in the China Trade. This six sided pot has a different flower embossed on each side. The pot is covered in a blue/green glaze on the inside and most of the outside with the exception of the very top and bottom. The pot stands 5 inches tall and measures about 5 inches in diameter. I'm not sure what kind of stone this is, but there are fantastic marbled or mottled shades of green, from a creamy pale to almost black, with some black speckles here and there. China during the height of the"Old China Trade" era and exported to the West. This box came out of an old East Coast Colonial Estate and is sold as found. It's Song-Tang period gilt bronze vase stands 6 1/2" tall. It is decorated in relief with 6 panels of birds flying among flowering bushes. This vase retains some of the original gilding and if you look at photo 4 you will see about 1 inch down from the top on either side of the vase is a flat round copper spot. I believe that this may have been where handles may have originally been.
