Fantastic Original Vintage Miles(Miley) Smith Canada Goose decoy from this famed artist. Miley was a shipwright for the Chris Craft Boat Co. in Algonac. Mi and worked for owner Chris Smith and Gar Wood. The famous decoy carver Chris Smith was one of his distant relatives. He made his first fish and duck decoys for his own use, but in the mid 1970's Miley's work gained a wider appeal and he began selling them at first in the St. Clair, Marine City, Marysville and Algonac areas. Other carvers made more realistic decoys, but Miley preferred his own approach to carving and painting how he learned from his father Lincoln which was the almost folk art carving and painting. This incredible bird was probably carved in the 1950’s and was bought directly from Miley and then this decoy was bought by me in Algonac recently. It shows 3 Baker Boy Planters made of redwood, decorated with wooden spoons, chefs heads and veggie bouquets. The actual postcard image is much clearer than my scan shows. This is a wonderful vintage Mid-Century Modern view for any collection. Condition: This color photo postcard measures 3.5"x5.5" It is in fairly good condition with some minor scuffs.
