Up for sale is a collection of old marbles that came out of my grandmother's estate. These were found in an old Ball Ideal glass jar with a patent date of July 12 1908. We think some of these marbles are older than that date but do not know for sure. I tried to look these up online and cannot find much on them except for most of these are handmade and a few that appear to be pretty rare. If you need any pictures of a specific marble close up. Antique Marbles 1880-1930
These were all found around old homesteads dating between 1880s and 1930s. I don't know much about marbles but most of these are obviously hand blown as they are wobbley and not perfectly round and a few have small flat pontil marks. They could all use a good cleaning but I'll leave that up to the buyer. The clear one has a few swirls in it and a pretty neat large air bubble floating near the center.

Antique clay marbles in nice 2 drawer box.
Clay marbles from the late 1800's. Early 1900. There are over 130 marbles, from brown and grey to soft pink, orange and green tones. Comes in the box shown. manufacture of common brown-bodied earthenware marbles began in Akron. Ohio, in 1889. They were first made there by S.C. Dyke and Company, and shortly thereafter by that company's co-owner's brother, Acton L. Dyke. It was Acton Dyke who apparently introduced painted, or dyed, clay marbles in 1890, around the same time he also applied for a patent for machinery that could produce 600 marbles per hour. The following year the two brothers consolidated their companies and operated as the American Marble and Toy Manufacturing Company until 1904. On the front of this bag. It says Marbles with picture of skier wearing out of date clothes, ski poles and skis. Underneath it says. Sun Valley. Idaho. The front is rust colored. With brown lettering, and the backside is dark brown. The 2nd picture is slightly lighter than is true. The other pictures of the front are slightly darker than true. The bag is suede. Up for auction is a vintage lot that was found in a desk drawer. It was 4 dice and four colors of four marbles each as shown in an old Ex-Lax box. It sounds funny but I couldn't break up the set as this is how it was stored for a long time. 2 Vintage Antique Marbles - early 1940's Era- Limeade OxBlood Akro Agate Company
Here is a lot of 2 Old Vintage Marbles- possibly rare colors. From the research I have done- these could be a couple of Christensen Agate Company Limeade OxBloods? These are ones from my parents way back in the day. They were from the mid to early 1940's. They have many. Many of these old vintage marbles. They grew up in Wellsville on the West Virginia and Ohio Border, so all of these marbles are from that area. These two are 5/8" in diameter. The one you can feel a slight rough spot, but can't see any damage. No Reserve, All Sales Final, Low starting Bid. Will be listing others from their original collection.
