I believe some of the marbles to be handmade because there is a pontil on the marbles where the stick was detached when the marble was hand-blown. Also some of the marble are not a perfect sphere. 1900 pat. Antique brass cylinder original Match holder By Marbles Gladstone
On auction is an authentic vintage metal match holder patented by Marble's Gladstone in Michigan. In the year 1900. It is 2.75"tall and.75" wide. The patent(and advertising) states that it was a cylinder that opens up and holds matches and closes securely in case the owner, stated as Outdoors-man, Hunter or Logger; topples into a stream. It stated the necessity of having dry matches in a rural wooded setting. It is a unique addition to any match holder collection. This is not one of the new reproductions that are being sold, but an antique item, so I would not think it is still waterproof. To open the match safe, flip the carrier/fob/ ring off to one side so that the ring does not block the end and you can turn the barrel itself only to open the body and have access to the matches. Note* When the barrel part has been fully unscrewed, ... moreit will be able to swung out to one side only. Leave the open end tilted up so the matches don't roll out. It is an interesting item that is being copied by others, now, over 100 years later. The company originally made gun sights for hunting, safety axes, camping knives, as well as the match holders. It closed down in 2000. This model with it's loop was popular around the 1930's and 1940's(after seeing the loop showed up around that time in the advertising) I believe it is made of chromium brass. 3 Antique(Very Old) Marbles (Near Mint Glazed China Cross-bow/2 Brown Bennington
These are 3"antique" very old) marbles with 1 being a White Glazed China Cross-Bow and 2 German Brown Bennington. All three of these are in MINT/Near Mint condition as they appear to have never been played with. The glazed China has a diameter of.74" as measured with my composite digital caliper. It has multiple orange rings around the equator and green rings crossing over these. It is extremely glossy and shines(Wet Mint! The Brown German Bennington have diameters of approx. 61" and.54. Antique Solid Core Swirl Marbles Matching Set of 4, Size 1 1/16"+
This set of 4 antique marbles have matching colors. They may have all been made from the same cane. They each have the original pontil on one end. Since they are hand made the sizes are not exactly the same. They measure from 1 1/16" to 1 3/32" which is only a 1/32" difference. They have solid cores with red. White, blue and green in the center. The surrounding outer stripes are yellow and white. I took photos with a quarter turn view to show them from 4 different positions plus each end. They all have some sizeable chips. But are not frosty on the outside from wear. There are no cracks going down into the marbles. They have not been reground or polished. Chicken that lays marbles. Tin, antique wind-up, red, yellow, and blue; 5 1/2 in This is a classic chicken that is made of tin. It is 5 1/2 inches wide and 5 inches tall. It is a wind-up bird. That will"lay" marbles when the wind-up mechanism is activated. Marbles are dropped in at the top of the tail and they eject from the side. This chicken is marked"Baldwin Mfg Co Inc Brooklyn New York Manufactured in United States of America Patent No 2.151,330" The marking is printed in blue at the back of the bird. The wind-up mechanism does not work. If I drop a marble in at the top. It will not shoot out the side. Its color is in excellent condition. Antique Marbles Safety Pocket Axe
Marbles Safety Pocket Axe with nail claw. The nail claw pivots on its rivet. But is broken. The handle has a rabbit and dog on one side, and the maker information on the other side. The inlays on the handle fit well, and the blade cover is functional. There are no markings on the axe head, the blade cover says patented in 1898. There is rust and the evidence of age. It's sharp but it has some grind marks on the blade edge. The end piece of the handle has just a little slight bit of looseness. The leather sheath is in good condition. The small leather piece with the snap that holds the handle has some shallow surface cracks only on the outside.

I don't know if the marbles are machine made or handmade. I put them in the handmade category because the sizes are all different. I don't think a machine did that. Peltier, Vitro, Master, Christensen, Marble King, Benningtons and probably ones I've never even heard of, but the truth is I don't know anything about marbles. These were accumulated years ago from many different sources mostly estate sales. Antique Vintage Marbles Trailmaker Huge Bowie Knife Stag on Stag Deep Stamp
Up for your consideration is an Antique Marbles Trailmaker Stag on Stag knife from the early 1900's(pre 1945) This is the holy grail of Marbles knives in that it is a four pin stag on stag with no cracks or breaks and it is the largest of the Marbles collection. The overall length is just over 14 3/4 and the blade is a huge 9 13/16 inches. This knife is as solid as the day it was produced- blade is full. Intact, never machined or"refinished" original condition. It has a beautifully deep roller-coaster stamp. The stag and blade has surface scratches, but it is in remarkable shape considering it's age and you'll be hard-pressed to find another like it.if fact I've only seen one original stag on stag Trailmaker on ebay in 4 years of searching on for it. The original marbles stamped sheath is also included and I've ... moreseen these sell for a couple hundred dollars by themselves. The sheath is in good shape but it is missing some stitching and the tip is not ideal. That said, it is original and it isn't dried out like many I've seen. I will accept returns if you feel that the item description was misrepresented. All postage(sending and returning) will be at the cost of the winning bidder if a return is requested.
