I am unsure of its exact age, but these types of chairs were made primarily between the mid to late 19th Century. The cushions are on real springs-not ... morethe newer knock offs on plywood and thick foam. They could be designer pieces as they came from the same estate as the Jens Risnom and Girsberger chairs that I have just listed. These are sound and solid with no holes or tears to the original fabric. Fabric is quite thick and durable and rather a golden yellow color. Seat height is 16 1/2" in the front-14 1/2" in the back-so they set an angle and you just sort of lean back into them. Cushioning is still in good shape and they set comfortable. Seat width is 24 1/2" with a depth of 22" Back height is 33" They are pretty clean but you might want to hit them with some upholstery cleaner. I don't see any stains. I need to remove the legs from the seat frame to hold the shipping cost down. To do so I need to remove the staples from the dust liner on the underside to get to the nuts and bolts that hold the legs on. They just bolt right back on with wing nuts for the front and nuts for the rear legs. Upholstery will stay tight as that is on with small nails. Some wear to the mahogany stain finish but not a lot. I think the wood is probably poplar stained mahagony. If you would like to pick up and save the shipping my zipcode is 17363. There are 5 carved open compartments for organizing and a hidden drawer that opens the full length of the desk with 4 divided sections inside. The center disposal is the original period velvet sack with a hanging cord attached to a lovely ivory pearl stone set within a bronze circular ring with designs. A walnut wood weight is attached. Hand wood carvings include 2 beautiful ladies protruding from sides of desk and removable cupid on the top that is attached to the lid that covers the compartment where the clock sits. The clock has 3 different hand designs and incased in bronze. The face is a natural cream ivory? porcelain with black Roman numerals. The face is aged with some hairlines but the numerals are bold without any color loss. The clock has 2 front legs and a weighted bronze pendulum that you can view from the photo. It does move side to side and I hear ticking but is in need of adjusting. The clock is original and fits perfect to view from a circular opening made for it within the desk. This all original desk is in very good condition without repairs. It is hard to believe there are only two tips missing from the delicate finials. Located on left side underneath the desk and on the right side bottom between the legs. You will need to really search in the pictures because they are very hard to find. It is very rare to find a set. How fortunate to have this elaborate matching chair with velvet padded seat in such wonderful condition. The carvings are amazing and please view the lion and the Fiorentino symbol on the back of the chair. In my 30 years of experience I have never seen a desk set like this. The seat is 6 ¼” deep and the overall depth is 8 ½” The feet and arms are beautifully carved wood. Possibly mahogany. The seat. Back and arms are upholstered in a fine green silk fabric, which has been painted with green, cream and red stripes to demonstrate, in scale, the actual full size fabric pattern. This chair, along with a matching Chippendale camel-back sofa and another upholstered easy chair and Pembroke drop leaf table were purchased as a set at an antique show in Santa Monica in 1987. At that time they were said t be 64 years old. Putting them at circa 1923, though they may well be older. The dealer had purchased them in Rockport, Illinois as salesman samples. The construction and upholstery all indicates that they were in fact made as salesman samples and not as an apprentice piece or doll furniture. The mahogany is beautifully carved and finished and in good condition. The joints are tight with no wobbly bits or cracks. There is an old. Stable repair to the stretcher bar on the bottom of the chair. The painted silk is fragile and in rough. Shabby chic condition consistent with age. There is loss of paint. Splits in the fabric and some staining. Please study the photos with the zoom feature to see these issues. No attempt to repair or restore this piece has been made and it is in original condition. This piece is incredibly charming despite the vintage condition and displays beautifully. It is extremely rare to find miniature upholstered pieces of this age. As most have not survived the years.
