Please note the two deep wear marks on the rear lateral structural element. These are typical of this model and come from years of reclining. The reclining mechanism works well. But could use some adjustment. There are a few replaced screws, but everything is present and functional, though the foot piece doesnt want to stay up within the chair seat when it isnt reclined. Great Bones! The end forms of the benches are fiberglass form. And the bench seats easily unbolt and would make for an affordable somewhat easy reupholster. This auction is for one vintage Thayer Coggin lounge chair and ottoman designed by Milo Baughman. The chair and rolling ottoman are solid and comfortable. Cosmetically. The chair and ottoman are both covered in their original beige/tan fabric with very little wear. There is one spot of what appears to be nail polish on the seat cushion of the chair(see picture) It was hard to photograph, it is barely seen unless you are looking for it. The ottoman has a tiny white spot near the top edge and a grey mark on one corner. The chrome shines like new with only minimal scratches and wear(see pictures) The black meshing on the underside of the chair has tears in a few spots. The dimensions of the chair are 29.5" wide, 29.5" deep, and 25" tall. Fantastic Milo Baughman Floating Chrome Chair! Upholstered in a light blue grey flannel fabric that is a bit faded( you can see it when the cushion is removed) Has one small tear on upper edge of right side cushion. Chrome has no scratches or dents but has some light oxidation along the bottom that scrapes off with my fingernail. I am not sure how to polish it so I left it alone. This chair is very structurally sound- has no issues- no sagging- good spring! Can be used as is or just reupholstered! The chair is dated 1980(please see picture 2) I believe the frame is brass plated steel. The frame has several areas or rust. Mostly on the bottom. The rust seems to be mostly on the surface. The frame otherwise has normal vintage scuffing and wear. One of the fabric covered arm rests is missing. There are several holes in the front and back of the fabric of the back rest(please see pictures) The foam and padding is comfortable and seems to be in good condition and has no bad odor. Mid-Century Thonet, Milo Baughman-Style Tubular Steel Rocking Chair Faux Leather
Unique ~ One of A Kind! Mid-Century Modernist Ergonomically-Shaped Rocking Chair Black Tubular Steel Thonet-Style Rockers and Milo Baughman-Style Leather Arm Rests. Faux-Leather Upholstery I don't know who manufactured this chair. I could not find a label. But this likely a one-of-a-kind Troy Sunshade chair, due to the type of supports and structure. The curved-metal style of the rockers resembles Thonet. Perfectly balanced and comfortable. The ergonomic shape of the upholstery indicates that it is from the Modernist era. When Marcel Breuer, Mart Stam, and Ulrich Bohme were creating their own individual styles. The leather arm rests are also unique. Too. They resemble those featured on several pieces that Milo Baughman designed for Thayer Coggin of North Carolina. Baughman created modernist pieces for Thayer Coggin from 1953 until his ... moredeath in 2003. This chair is definitely a rare. Hand-crafted rocking chair. It may even have been a prototype of sorts. If you look closely, you can see the welds throughout the framing and in the curves on the rockers. The original leather arm straps(as shown in the last picture) were cracked and broken. So I took the chair to a harness maker and had him install new leather straps with brass studs. The upholstery is made up of three sections- two pieces for the backrest. And one for the seat. The backrest cushions are supported by a painted black steel frame. I removed the screws in order to search for a name and cleaned each seat section. The brown faux leather appears to be in pretty nice condition. I have re-assembled the seat sections after cleanup. Three buttons will have to be replaced. This chair is so easy to disassemble that it would be a breeze to reupholster it. The black metal tube rockers have seen some use over the years. The black paint is worn off the bottoms. The back of the chair is 38 inches at the highest point and the width of the chair is 36 inches from the top of the back to the tip of the seat. The seat is 14 inches from the floor at the lowest point and 16 inches from the floor at the highest point. This is a Mid century that looks just like a Milo Baughman Parsons Armchair. It has a custom made plastic slip cover that zips on and off. It is a soft. Plush, fabric. No tears or holes in it and there is no wear on the fabric because the plastic had been on it for years. As a result it practically looks new. It has tufted back cushion, smooth plump cushions and allover upholstered style. It does have a small stain(about the sixe of half a dollar coin) on the right front side of the seat which may be able to be easily cleaned off. This auction is for a Vintage Ottoman or Footstool for a Danish Modern style Lounge Chair(I do not have the chair that matches) Has a Cloth THAYER COGGIN Tag that says Design by Milo Baughman. Could work with a variety of Thayer Coggin Walnut Lounge Chairs as well as those from other Manufacturers. The original cloth cushion that lays on top is missing. Measures 26” x 21” x 12 inches tall. Condition is Excellent. The Wood finish is great condition with minor wear and the ottoman is very sturdy- not wobbly at all. The springs are very strong and solid. The cloth tag is coming unglued. The most noticeable wear are some small chips along the top edge of the frame but the cushion should hide most. Mid Century 70s Milo Baughman Style Bucket Swivel Chair This chair came with milo baughman sofa that I purchased. The pieces came together but the sofa sold. The fabric is worn and it looks like some ate the corner of the cushion. I have three extra end caps and they could be pierces together to fix the cushion. The height of the back of the chair is 26 inches the width of the chair is 33 inches the height to the to the bottom of the cushion is about 12 inches and to the top of the cushion it is 15 1/2 inches. The seat cushion depth is 20 inches and the depth of the total chair is 32 inches. I would prefer a pickup. I would be willing to ship this chair either by freight or greyhound. Product We recognized the chair as Milo Baughman and removed the"new" upholstery which was put on we estimate about 1985- it was in bad condition anyways. We found the original upholstery below with all the labels showing this was from August 1975. Sadly. While the chrome is excellent the seat has tears to it and the back of the chair has the back original upholstery gone permanently. Therefore this chair will need to be reupholstered. It is a large chair 25" tall. 23" wide and 24" deep. It will need to be grey-hounded- see shipping. Condition chrome excellent. Upholstery needs replacing. This beautiful pair of 2 matching chrome frame chairs is upholstered in eyepopping ... moreELECTRIC BLUE. Designer unknown. But reminiscent of the designs made famous by MILO BAUGHMAN for Thayer Coggin. Exceptionally well-made. Extremely sturdy, and of the highest quality. Unmarked, as best I can tell, but certainly worthy of further research. Chairs are very heavy. Chrome frame tubing is 1" in diameter. And each chair measures: chairs are 25.5" tall(to top of back cushion) chrome frame is 25.5" wide. Upholstered arm pads are 28" wide* chairs are 32" deep* seat height is 16.5" from floor. At front of chair These are very nice examples. But for the sake of being extremely accurate, please remember that this set is gently used, and does show some very minimal signs of use. Chrome cube frames are very nice. But do have some scuffs and scrapes, as expected. They could benefit from a light buffing with fine steel wool, but I will leave that to the new owner. Blue upholstery does have some soiling and staining. And could benefit from a good shampooing. The two upholstered cushions are removeable and zippered, for cleaning or recovering.
