Very good overall condition, This elegant oak monks chair was crafted in England around 1900. Which places it at the close of the Victorian period and the beginning of the Edwardian period. The oak remains very beautiful, with a lovely patina and a distinct grain. Intricate carvings adorn the front, while the armrests feature turned columns. The most unique feature of this chair is the folding backrest, which drops down and slides forward to make this chair into a two-tiered side table. The seat also opens to reveal a small storage space, making this chair as useful as it is charming. The right armrest has developed a small separation in the wood, which is part of the natural aging process, and there are a few scuffs characteristic of an antique piece, but otherwise this chair remains quite attractive and sturdy. Overall condition is therefore very good. The sides look great. Shown here is the other side. Shown here is the back. The seat opens to reveal a convenient storage space. The oak displays a distinct grain. This seat remains as sturdy as it is elegant. With intricate carvings along the front. Here is an absolutely delightful find. a set of six heavy carved oak chairs with shell. Leaves and other carvings including column front legs and rush bottom seats, imported through Edinburgh, Scotland and in a Henry II style, these most probably were manufactured there in Scotland or perhaps England in the early to mid-twentieth century. I have noted in my description of condition above that three of the rush bottom seats on this set is broken through, and simply replaced at present with a wood board underneath the seat cushion. I have taken this into account and am selling these chairs"as is" for a great price for someone looking to invest a little love into bringing them back to their full glory by replacing the seats. These side dining chairs stand 37 inches tall and measure 17 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches front to back. A set of six matching C1910 oak pressed back design dining or kitchen chairs. These Victorian era oak chairs also have a hand hold in the center of curved pressed back piece. There are seven fancy turned spindles. All of the chairs have their original finish. Each chair back is reinforced with two original bent wood braces that are connected to the vertical back supports and the seat area. These early kitchen or dining table chairs are designed to have cane style seats. The cane needs to be replaced. The chairs themselves are in very good condition. This is a beautiful 42 inch antique oak table with a traditional mission oak finish. The current picture set shows how it might look in your kitchen with carpets that help create a comfortable space and a fruit bowl right out of a painting. This set came out of a courthouse in the New Hampshire mountains, and they were refinished five or six years back. The courthouse sold them because a couple of them have split seats, and they were afraid the courthouse would get sued if someone ended up with a splinter in the wrong place, if you know what I mean. Their loss is our gain: Can you imagine putting these around a conference table? How about inside a home theater or a large dining room table? The chairs are finished in a medium oak stain, and have seven slats in the back that curve like a popsicle stick. The arms are all steamed ash bent oak, as shown in the pictures, with multi-turned spindles supporting them and the original iron rod that keeps the arm tight at all times. The base has multiple turned legs, multiple turned spindles across the front as cross stretchers, and the original metal cross bracing, which we used to take out before selling the item in the old days, but which people now seem to like. France and imported to it's current location in Charleston, SC. This high quality solid oak furniture was manufactured somewhere between the 1900 and the early to mid-twentieth century. In addition to the wonderful condition, the beautiful wood grain is highlighted by the highly detailed carvings and the parquet oak and burl top alongside fabulous heavy carved full size dining chairs with leather seats, secured with a complete set of decorative brass tacks. What a piece of history! The patent mark on the bottom of the chairs reads September 26. 1885. The chairs are made of solid oak, are very sturdy and in great condition for their 100+ years with minor signs of wear and use. The seats have the pitted"Texas Star" pattern in the center. These type chairs are becoming more difficult to find especially in numbers. They were often used in government settings such as courthouses. Lawyers and other professionals also seem to appreciate and use them in their offices. However. As they are both functional and practical, they can be used in any area in the home, office, etc. Each chair is solid oak and is tight and sturdy in construction. The finish on each chair is an older finish with a nice patina. The condition of each of the twelve(12) chairs is great with wear appropriate and consistent with the age and use. There appears to be no existing damage or missing pieces to each chair. The construction and design are such so that one is comfortable sitting in them even if for a prolonged time period. Pair Oak Cochrane Company Pressback Chairs Retro Antique Pressed Back Deep Press
Listing this evening a nice set of Oak Pressed Back(pressback) chairs in made in the great old USA. These are great looking copies of early 1900's pressbacks. They blend in nicely with originals. The chairs are 39 1/2" tall with a seat height of 18" They are 18" across the front of the seat and have a 17 1/4" seat depth. There are no breaks in the wood and the chairs are solid as a rock. There is slight chipping on the top of one chair(pic#4) and some staining(maybe from alcohol) on the seat of the other chair. With pads on the seats you can't even see the staining on that seat. The finish is a medium oak. The chairs have been thoroughly cleaned and polished with wax. These are excellent quality chairs as far as copies go. The stretchers. Pressing(quite deep) and all carvings are very well done. You can own a pair ... moreof these for less than half the cost of vintage chairs. Both chairs are marked with a sticker(and a brand on one chair) and the numbers as pictured. Antique tiger oak dining table with bear claw foot legs and carved pedestal base. Circa 1880s. Table measures approximately 52" in diameter. Set includes the table and four(4) chairs with spindle backs and cane bottoms. The pedestal base has intricate carvings and relief as typical of furniture from this period. The table top and base is in very good condition with no major damages or deep scratches.As with all antiques, the table and chairs reflect the usual wear and tear and imperfections. The table pedestal base has a crank that allows it to separate for expansion, and this sometimes doesn't form a tight connection when in its closed position without some hand adjustment. Caned dining chairs, antique, oak, set of 6 chairs
This is a set of 6 caned chairs. They are hand me downs that my husband and I have been using as our kitchen chairs until we recently bought new furniture. We are not into antiques and so I don't know much about these chairs. I think they are oak. And they do look pretty old. They are very solid and sturdy. 4 of the chairs look like the last picture(need to be re-caned) and 2 of them are like the first picture, where the seat is completely intact.
