Vintage Thonet Gull Wing Side Arm Chair Mid-Century Modern Molded Plywood
Great look and it is sound and solid but has been painted. It looks like a red primer first then brown on top.It was done many years ago as there is wear to the paint. Also there is a 1/16" deep by 1" wide by 5" long piece of veneer missing from the furniture grade plywood that this is made of. It is at the base of the one arm and it is common to have a problem there as the veneer wants to buckle when they steam form them in to place. It usually blisters and cracks there. If you are going to strip it and take it back to the original blonde finish you'll need to replace it with the natural plywood veneer strip. If you are going to repaint it you just paint over top. Fill it with wood filler or just patch it in with any veneer strip you can find. It sets very comfortable. Vintage Porcelain Hinged Box- Winged-Back Chair This beautiful hinged porcelain box is made to look like a wing-backed chair. It is white and has images of peaches on it in several areas and is quite lovely. It is in excellent condition from what I can tell. All measurements are approximate but it is 4 1/4 inches tall and 3 3/4 inches wide at the widest point. This beautiful piece was purchased at an estate auction. The estate belonged to an elderly woman who had collected these litle boxes for decades. There were several hundred boxes and I was able to purchase more than a hundred of them. Antique Wicker Rocker wing chair white. One of pair This is one of a pair of wicker rockers being sold individually. Either individually or as a pair these chairs are striking. They are deep and comfortable and epitomize the wicker chair on the summer porch that you would have seen in an old Victorian mansion or stately home. The chairs are sizable and comfortable for all sizes of guests. The style is a wing chair- but the wings are not sharply angular- but gracefully provide the chairs with a wide width. It is 31 inches from side to side at the widest point of the wings. In keeping with the large size comfort of these chairs the arms each have a 7 1/2 inch wide shelf to rest your arms. A book, a drink, etc. There are no springs in the chair, just a seat cushion an a back cushion. It is very easy and economical to customize the cushions to ... morematch you decor. The other chair measurements are: 47 inches tall 36 inches wide the chair itself measures 30 inches front to back, including the rockers it is 38 inches front to back. The depth of the seat is 22 inches. This chair needs work along the bottom of the chair where the entire bottom is missing the final row of braid. The weaving needs to be redone, but can be used as is. The photos 1, 2 and 4, show the work that needs to be done. This chair is sturdy- but it does need some restoration attention. It has been used for over 100 years and is a good steady sturdy chair. It has usage damage described commensurate with its age.
