It is a natural wicker.not having been painted like most old pieces.It has wonderful rolled top and arms. The seat is set in cane. The original red label says(as best I can read it) Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Co. Gardner Mass. The part of the label with the Model No. is missing. I am guessing it is from the 1880s-1890s. The chair is about 28" high and 18" wide at the arms. The condition is very good; the last two pictures show two very small spots of broken wicker. But being about 120 years old and fragile. It is in remarkable condition(a b it dusty) I AM NOT AN EXPERT ON WICKER so please ask any questions. Please buy it As I s since there are a few very tiny imperfections. Would look great to display antique bisque dolls or old teddy bears. This will require a large box for shipping so rates will be higher.of course. Pick-up in Central PA is also welcome. Large Ornate Antique Heywood-Wakefield Victorian/Edwardian Wicker Rocker c. 1900
Valued eBay Customers: T his item is FOR LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY- NO SHIPPING. Offered is an antique. Wicker rocker from Heywood-Wakefied. It is circa 1900 and had its original tag. It measures about 38" tall. 27" wide at the widest spot(arms) and 34" deep(length of rocker runners) It is dark walnut brown in color. Rocker runners are made of bird's eye maple. Original Heywood-Wakefield tag is still on the back of the seat(see photo) CONDITION: The chair is in great. Overall, antique condition. As an item that is over 100 years old, it does have some condition issues that I will go over here. T he chair had some damage to the seat which was repaired by an antiques refinishing and repair professional that I have trusted for years to work on my antique furniture. This damage included a split in the back of the seat which was repaired ... morewith epoxy and filled. It has had the caning in the seat replaced and colored to blend with the rest of the chair. The right arm was also loose at the base of the seat and has been reset firmly into place with epoxy. In fact. It is even more solid that the other arm which has some slight movement if you wiggle it, but is secure. The repaired arm does have some missing cane at the bottom, but does not detract greatly in my opinion and could be repaired if you wish. There is no other broken or missing whicker which is amazing for a large piece of this vintage. There is a bit of wood missing underneath on a leg where one rung is glued in but cannot be seen unless you turn the chair over. The entire piece has been refinished. Please see photos for pictures of the condition items discussed. Note: While this rocker is structurally sound. I would recommend that its delicate, antique nature be taken into consideration when used. It may not support larger people or rough usage. We are a smoke-free. Adult only environment. The fabric. Trim, and cording are in very good to excellent condition. We did not find any tears or stains and only a few stray threads that can be easily snipped off. There is some slight fading in some areas of the fabric but it is not very noticeable and would not show if the carriage was used to display dolls or plush animals, for example. The previous owners actually used this family heirloom when their children were babies and it is functional. When not out for a head-turning stroll. The carriage served as a bassinet-on-wheels for a napping newborn. Afterwards it was used to display antique teddy bears in the family's home. Personally, we do not know if this item meets with current safety standards but it probably does not and we do not recommend using it except for display. For auction is a beautiful Victorian baby carriage complete with a shade umbrella manufactured byHeywood Brothers Wakefield Company of Gardner Mass. The model is known as"The Heywood" The carriage is in origanal found condition so it will need some minor restoration before it is ready for display. Fortunately. All the wicker is good and there is no visible damage to it. The umbrella is missing one spine and the whole thing needs to be recovered. The padding needs to be replaced and the floor of the carriage needs some repair. Finally, the rubber tires have some missing pieces. Other than these things, the piece is in excellent condition. There is a red and white paper label on the bottom that reads"Heywood Brothers Wakefield Company Gardner Mass" The name of the company was changed to Heywood Wakefield in 1921 so this ... morecarriage obviously predates 1921. The umbrella is collapsible and it fits into a holder on the carriage handle. It can be moved into different positions to keep the sun out of baby's eyes. The parking brake still works and the suspension/springs are fine. There is almost ne paint loss to the green under-carriage. There are no missing spokes in the wheels. This would be a great, reasonably priced candidate for restoration. The Heywood Wakefield brand was considered the Cadillac of carriages and this one is a great example. There is no way I can package this for shipment so it is a pick-up only at my home in eastern Pennsylvania. We are located one mile from the Delaware Water Gap exit of Route 80. More for toddlers and small children. It's made beautifully and it has a coat of old pink paint. It's a beauty for dolls, parades, or simply as a decorative item for your porch in the summer with plants in it. The handle is turned wood and in it's original finish. Two of the wheels no longer have rubber. The wicker itself is in great condition with no rot or severe damage, just signs of wear from a carriage that's 100 years old. They have been called"King and Queen" chairs. These pieces are in terrific condition considering they are probably at least 110 years old. Here are the stats: Queen Chair- Smaller of the Two: 32.5" tall. The seat is 16" in diameter, the back is about 14" wide. The thick curlique at the top of the back is cracked through, you can see how this could happen as the tendency is to grab the chair by the center top of the back and the leverage would cause a break. This is easily repaired. Otherwise no damage that I can discern. King Chair- Larger of the Two: 41" tall.15" wide, 16" diameter seat. This piece has a bit more damage than the other. Antique Heywood Brothers Wakefield Victorian Wicker Settee VGC Ornate 1880-90's Here is a wonderful piece from the late 1800's by the Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company. This piece features some of the most desireable design elements from that era. The vertical side supports for the back of the piece have a triple"Birdcage" design. Lots of curliques and a bead and stick pattern in the center back. The piece is really in terrific condition considering it is probably at least 110 years old. Here are the stats: 39" high and wide to the edge of the armrests. The seat is 34.5" wide and 20" deep. The brass capped feet look to have been wrapped in masking tape at some point and the tape was painted white. The wrap on one leg has been repaired and needs a little more material to completed the repair. I purchased this in 1975 from a New York family who was moving to Hawaii and couldn't take it with them. It had been in their family for two generations of children. I used it for my own daughter in 1986 then she kept dolls and stuffed animals in it for a few years then I covered it and stored in a dry attic ever since. This would look great in a girl's room. In a foyer, near a fireplace, etc. It could also be a great way to display dolls for a doll collector. It could also be featured in an antiques store where it is sure to attract attention! The wooden handle has a nice patina with worn spots from people's hands over the years. It is a nice two tier wicker over hardwood table or plant stand. It is 22" tall with a 13-1/4" square diameter at the top. It features four wicker wrapped outward curving hardwood legs. Woven wicker on the edge of the lower shelf, with the original metal feet and double oak wood shelves. It remains in very good condition just showing normal wear including small shallow dents on the edges of the top shelf. The wicker and wood have darkened with age. But show no damage. It is sturdy and sits level and steady on any flat surface. The original paper maker's label can be seen on the bottom of the lower shelf. From what I could find the name"HEYWOOD" was changed to HEYWOOD-WAKEFIELD after many years. The design of this clean print plate seems to indicate that the 3 people are in a furniture store and they are shopping for this wicker item as the little girls sits inside the wicker piece. Authentic Antique Heywood-Wakefield Wicker Rattan Baby Carriage/Buggy- A WOW'ER!
H-W(Heywood-Wakefield) Wicker Baby Buggy with fully functional features! For your consideration. A beautiful& authentic Heywood-Wakefield wicker rattan baby carriage buggy. The buggy is in very good shape- being all original materials. Wicker body, metal framing, wood handle and spokes. The carriage has many notable features that are all in great working order: A thick wooden push handle with original paint A metal brake activation lever on the right side just below the push handle. This lever locks in the braking position when pushed all the way down- probably one of the first to have this feature. A metal lever on the left side. Towards the back and bottom of the wicker body, that controls the position of the foot end of the buggy. This lever locks into 2 positions- as can be seen in the photos. The back rest can be locked into 3 different ... morepositions with a spring loaded pull metal knob on the top of the back rest. The top canopy that provides the baby shade/blocking the light can be adjusted back and forth along 2 metal runners and can be position up or down on a pivot that has large wing nuts to tighten to secure. The mechanics for these adjustment are on the back of the top sides of the main body. Wooden spoked wheels with hub caps that had or have"H-W" painted on them- most of this has worn away but one is in pretty good and readable condition. All 4 wheels can easily be removed and be re-inserted by using a spring loaded button on the axle by each wheel. A pretty cool feature. Rubber wheels- the rubber was cracking in many places but was complete on all wheels- to help secure and protect the original rubber I filled the cracks and uneven places with black silicone. The silicone could be easily removed if so desired. The Heywood Bros. was one of the first companies in the mid-1870's to make baby carriages from rattan and reed. In 1883. Great form w/ six legs and six side panels w/ rectangular cutout designs in each. Slightly flared legs are wrapped. Hex top is made of oak.refinished. New paint to the wicker.looks like it has only been painted twice. So there isn't the usual buildup of many coats of old paint that hide the wicker work. Excellent restored condition! The chaits are 31 inches wide and 40 inches high. This is a beautiful old woven set that you don't see too often anymore. The cushions come with the wicker but will need either changed or updated. Antique Heywood Wakefield Wicker Rocking Chair Shabby Cottage Chic Japanalia
Available is an antique Heywood Wakefield wicker rocking chair. An antiques dealer did research and identified the chair as being from the 1880s. The style shows the influence of the Japanalia or aesthetic movement of that time in history. The chair is in very good condition. And is very sturdy. It is also comfortable to sit in as well. There are some very minor flaws. There is some missing paint, but that is minor. There is a bit of missing wicker to the fan. See pics. It is very minor. The seat is also covered with a wood board. See pics. There is wicker underneath, so it looks like a previous owner simply covered over the wicker seat with a board. I have enjoyed this for many years with no complaints! Up for auction is an antique Heywood Wakefield wicker desk. It has been painted green. As you can see in the pictures the paint is quite distressed on the wood writing surface. There are a couple of places where there are breaks in the wicker and some missing wrap on the legs. Working front drawer. This is a very cool piece. But it is entirely typical of the work done by either the Heywood Brothers or the Wakefield Rattan Company.or even after their merger in 1897 to become the Heywood-Wakefield Company. Antique Heywood-Wakefield wicker stroller uncommon style
Item you are bidding on is an antique Heywood-Wakefield wicker child's stroller in good condition. On top of stroller cover is one area where the wicker is coming apart that measures approx. 1" x 3/4" Overall measurements are a follows: 40"H x 46"L x 24"W. This stroller was made more for a bigger child. Because of the way it is constructed. This type of stroller is less common than the baby buggy. It has an adjustable footrest, moveable cover, quick release tires, wooden handle, and an emergency brake. We are not sure of the exact year of manufacture, but Heywood Bros and Wakefield Co. became Heywood Wakefield Co. in 1921, so it would have been made after that. Antique 3 Piece Heywood Wakefield Wicker Parlor Set
Antique wicker parlor set with sofa. Chair and rocker. Still has original paint. Set is at least 75 years old and has been in my family for over 50 years. Believed to be Heywood Wakefield but manufacturer tag was lost when reupholstered 15 years ago. Overall condition of wicker and cloth is very good.
