For sale is a fantastic set of 3 mahogany dining room chairs. I think they date to the 1920s-1930s. The condition is very good with minor scratches. Super sturdy and nice original finish. Has a beautiful carved back with open work detail. The top rail has a carved plume or shell the legs are carved chippendale. The seat is webbed and filled with horsehair. The upholstery is fresh and clean with a burgundy/rust color with yellow details. The beautiful nailhead trim on 3 side of the chairs is brass. Antique 1929 Cherry Wood Dining room Set Table 6 Chairs Buffet Hutch vintage WOW
I am the 2nd owner of this nice vintage dining room set-I bought it from the estate of a lady that purchased it new in 1929. Original tags still attached-reads-made by Bernhardt Furniture Co. Lenoir, North Carolina-the underside of the table is also stamped: Oval Table-Cherry-29-etc. Made of Cherry wood-medium, chestnut brown stain allows for much of the grain in the wood to show. Set consisted of table with removable center piece-5 regular chairs and one captain's chair with arms-hutch and buffet. I bought these 20 years ago and now am getting different furniture. I had the seats professionally reupholstered long ago to match my decor(olive green/goldish print)I have always kept seat pads on the chairs when in use-so the seats are in great condition. Table measures 58" x 40" x 30 1/2" tall-with an additional center piece ... morethat measures 12" wide. The Hutch is 47" x 15" x 70" tall. The Buffet is 57" x 17 1/2" x 30 1/3" tall. Overall very nice condition-normal wear for being 84 years old. Some things I would mention are that the wood color of the center piece section is darker than the rest of the table, it was like that when I bought it-possible meant for contrast or maybe because it was stored out of the light)also a slice of the corner wood has broken off as can be seen the the picture-back rt corner of section. Also-a bit of wood had chipped off the top corner of the table leg(tiny but I mention it to be exact-not seen from the top) The legs screw off with attachment bolts to remove them for storage. Also, one chair missing a decorative wood curve on front leg-shown in pic. Also- scratch on table top-6" and 1 1/2"shown in last pic. If I missed something-please ask. The color of the hutch in the first pic is the true color-rich and beautiful. Here is an absolutely delightful find. a set of six heavy carved oak chairs with shell. Leaves and other carvings including column front legs and rush bottom seats, imported through Edinburgh, Scotland and in a Henry II style, these most probably were manufactured there in Scotland or perhaps England in the early to mid-twentieth century. I have noted in my description of condition above that three of the rush bottom seats on this set is broken through, and simply replaced at present with a wood board underneath the seat cushion. I have taken this into account and am selling these chairs"as is" for a great price for someone looking to invest a little love into bringing them back to their full glory by replacing the seats. These side dining chairs stand 37 inches tall and measure 17 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches front to back. This auction is for 14 pieces of antique dining room furniture, which includes 3 table leaves& 2 custom fitted glass tops. The style is Chippendale. The wood is mahogany. This set is from the early 1900's. It was purchased by the current owner in the early 1960's. There is a picture. Which will be included of the original owner) The furniture pieces are a breakfront. Which is dust proof that stands 80" tall(6' 8" It is 54" long and 13" by 11 1/2" on the top and the bottom measures 14 1/2" by 11 1/2" As you can see by the pictures. The first drawer doubles as a writing desk that can be locked. Although there are no keys available. The drawers are dovetailed. The drawer pulls are brass with a fruit theme. All pulls are in very good antique condition. The drawer pulls are the same on the china ... morecloset& the buffet. There is a bit of fading on the right side of the bottom compartments. The owner said that just a bit of lemon oil helps them darken up. The glass on the doors is laid into the wood cut outs. This item weighes about 300 pounds per the owner. The buffet measures 62 1/2" long. It is 36" tall and the depth. On the sides 18" deep in the center 18" deep. The 2 side drawers are lined and segmented for your silver. There is a piece of glass. That was made to sit on the top of this lovely item. This item was also fashioned to be dust proof. Now to the table. It is 66 1/4" long. Without the leaves& 44 1/4" wide and stands 2' 6" Including the depth of the glass. The table is in very good pre-owned condition. There is a piece of cut glass to fit on top. The glass has seen some wear over the years. There are scratches from use. The leaves. There are 3 of them, 15 1/4" wide. Fully extended. This table is 112" long. A unique and rare old set. Cosmetically it is in good condition with some scratches and light wear. The table measures about 40 x 30 x 29 inches and each chair measures 16 x 16 x 34 inches. This Berkey& Gay dining set consists of a 3-leaf table. 8 chairs, 1 china hutch, 1 buffet and 1 sideboard. It is made of walnut, with many sections being bookmatched figured walnut- absolutely beautiful. All pieces are matching, and feature the metal medallion used in Berkey& Gay's furniture from the 1920's-1940's. Our best guess is that these pieces were made in the 20's. They're in excellent condition for this vintage. You'll see some very slight damage, shown in the last 4 photos. This is a wonderful set of six mahogany shield back dining chairs in the Hepplewhite style and dating from the 1940s. Consisting of five ... moreside chairs and one master or gent’s arm chair. The six have wonderful shapely shield backs with a multi-finger hole center splat, carved arms on the arm chair, and carved tapered legs on all the chairs. Each has a solid H cross-stretcher so they are all tight and sturdy and ready for use. They have a slip-covered seat in a light beige upholstery of reasonably good condition, and are easy to change if you desire, but the fabric is usable with only a few small damage spots. The overall size of the side chairs is 19 inches wide, 17 inches deep, 37 inches to the top of the chair back and 19 inches high to the seat. Beautiful Antique Dining Table and 4 Chairs from England, UK
We bought this very nice dining table and chairs at a antique furniture store in Southport. England(about 7-8 yrs ago) when we lived there. It is a very nice solid wood table. May be Mahogany or Walnut not sure(it has a dark stain with a hint of red in it) The Cabriole legs are ornate with ball and claw feet. Carvings of(acanthus) leaves and flowers. The chairs are padded(removable) and have a tan flowered material on them. Chippendale style. The top of the table comes unscrewed from the base. Our family has outgrown the table for 4 and we are now selling it. It has had one of the chair backs broken, but it has been repaired. It has a few dents in the table top wood(no stain missing though) But overall is in beautiful shape. Sorry we do not know more about it.
